I was just thinking about this and I really can't decide. I love everything, but at the moment I do prefer Fallen. I suppose it's just because I've had more time to fall more and more in love with it than with the others!

I love Origin too... but then I love all of the albums and both of the Ep's... But out of all of them

Fallen,. so many of those songs touch me.. but then I've listened to them so many times i guess i interparet them all in my own way

Origin? *edit- ew in the time I posted this nine other people said the Origin thing..haha*

haha seriously though, I think I am liking TOD more. My reasoning is whacked though. It has more songs on it than Fallen, making it automatically more satisfying for me. But, the songs grip me more than they did on Fallen..I dunno what it is. ABH was lacking, imo. Vocally, Amy has given better performances than on there...but to each their own. The DVD that came with it was super hot, though.

Fallen and TOD are ,both, awesome CDs (Anywhere But Home I think it's like Fallen 2 version live) but I prefer TOD cause it doesn't have a depressing end but a very happy end, a strong end (I mean TOD can make you feel strong instead of more depressed if you are so)

The Open Door! Fallen was a great album, but I think the new TOD album is way better. Especially after a few good listenings to it. I love the emotion she puts into her music.

10-24-2006, 05:24 PM
It's really hard to choose because both albums are so different... I love TOD because of all the insane heavy guitar riffs and just the raw effort that was put into making the music... But Fallen I think is sometimes more powerful and emotional.

Mmmm... I think I'd have to go with TOD.

Wow that's hard! Erm, Origin isn't bad either. I'd have to choose Fallen

(I mean TOD can make you feel strong instead of more depressed if you are so)

I very much agree with you on that statement. I have noticed that after listening to TOD so many times that I have come away with a much happier feeling than I did on Fallen everytime. That is the reason why I like TOD the best.

Ohhhh, did not have more easy question not? I find that it depends on what you will be to still evaluate and thus, for me I find difficultl to choose an album… Still I find that I am with the The Open Door, because is well more mature than the Fallen and the voice of the Amy is better also…

SpectralRaven
10-24-2006, 08:24 PM
Can I pick none of the above and go with "Origin"? :p

In all actuality, I love "Fallen" and "The Open Door" a lot, but I think "Fallen" beats the latter by a hair. If "Whisper" and "Imaginary" were not on there, I assure you I'd be picking "The Open Door". :)

TOD. I can relate to it more. And I've listened to Fallen so many times that I am now sick of it.

sweetdelirium
10-24-2006, 09:32 PM
It depends on what mood I'm in. I still listen to Fallen, but I listen to TOD more, but that is only b/ it just came out only 2 weeks ago, and I'm still "exploring." It took me about a year to completely understand all that I could possibly know about Fallen. And on ABH the only songs I listen to are Farther Away, Whisper, Tourniquet, and Breathe No More, so it isn't really my favorite. (I still think they could have chosen a better concert.)

I have to say 'The Open Door'.
I love Fallen & Origin but The Open Door in my opinion is by far the best.
Something about it made me fall in love Instantly.
Usually it takes me like a month or two for me to really get into a C.D, not the case with TOD.

I absoulutely love thier older stuff, its raw and just amazing. Plus Breathe no more is one of my fav. songs of all time

heh, It's funny, a lot of people relate to Fallen more than TOD. Its the opposite to me, not to the extent of that of the events that have happened in Amy's life, but a lot of songs I can relate to in a sort of omg, someone kknows how I feel sort of way.
So TOD, although I can also relate to a few songs on Origin too....but deffo TOD all the way!

I Love so much the Open Door and Fallen, but i must confess that what touch me more, and what i really thing it's Evanescence "essence" and what i think that has some of the most beautiful songs i've ever heard are Origin and the EP's.

I bow songs like Field Of Innocence, Give Unto Me, Solitude, So Close, Forgive Me, Exodus and October..they have such a beauty and poetry that i think that Fallen and The Open Door don't have..

Definitely Fallen.

10-30-2006, 12:26 PM
I'd have to say Fallen as it is what got me into Evanescence, however I keep on listening to the Open Door constantly and I love their other stuff as well, however Fallen is the first stuff I heard and so because of that it has sentimental value to me.
The Open Door to me seems like an even more mature effort than Fallen and it took a few listens to grow on me but once it did I was hooked on Ev all over again.

Princess_Diane
10-31-2006, 07:09 AM
I had to choose the 3:

Origin
Fallen
TOD

There is no way I could pick between the 3 they are all good in their different ways and all have different ways in which they make me feel, maybe I like one particular one (Origin) more than the others but I like the others so I am not going to pick.

I don't know because, but I prefer the age origin, more the age The Open Door and Anywhere But Home also is good. Age ABH was good for tail of the Will, and because also (in my opinion) very it was amused to see the Shaun in dvd(aahhhh already I wrote excrement), all they in the truth…but the age The Open Door is well more mature

I am thinking I like Origin the best. It has more of the choral music and more of the creepy-ness! If Origin and all other previous works were recorded again, Evanescence would surely surpass the records Fallen made. With Amy's newer vocal abilities, she could add some amazing elements to the older songs also. I like Origin and the previous the best because there were male vocals at times, more songs about love (before the dawn, october, even in death, anywhere, solitude, give unto me the list goes on), more lyrically enchanting and it was balanced better. My second favorite would be fallen because it too had more of the enchantment and choral aspects. Thats what really got me with Evanescence. The Open Door is not nearly as lyrically enchanting.

I really can't choose. I mean, right now I'm 'm loving ToD because it's new and it has great music, but I've had fallen for years and I'm nowhere near sick of it, so I guess ToD will have to "stand the test of time." Right now, I just really can't choose.

I wouldn't really consider ABH, because it's the same material performed live, so it can't really be an era all its own. And I love Origin don't get me wrong, and if the whole album was polished up and redone I think it would be amazing along with a few of the other demos, but don't forget, that's exactly what they are, demos. Amy has said that "Origin is NOT an album." So I don't really think they're on the same level as the rest, but they're still amazing songs whether it's considered an album or not.

I'm trying to make sense, it's just not working out too well.

dreamchaser_83

i sound so clique when i say that i love everything they do. but i became a huge fan after hearing fallen, and a bigger fan when i listened to their demos.

now that the open door is out, i am an even bigger fan (which i never thought was possible) because it shows their growth. i love it, can't stop listening to it.

Evanescence's older work is incomparable. The lyrics are better, and Amy's vocie was better then. TOD is not the best album.....

im sorry to have to choose
but one day i laid down and listened to all
and i have to say that fallen took the cake
from going under till whisper
i held my breath and my heart pounded so hard i thought it was going to explode
it was like i was listening to fallen 4 the first time again
with amy singing to me like there was nobody else in the world besides me and the band
and that there was no other time or place than here and now
so id have to say fallen

Conquistador
12-29-2006, 09:35 PM
I'd say TOD

Just 'cause how far they've gotten, how much they've improved, and how Amy finally seems

Satisfied, if you will.

:] I love it all, and I honestly wasn't crazy about TOD at first

But I think the meaning behind it made it all the better.

well, honestly, i'm not a big fan of The Open Door. I was kind of dissapointed.
My favorite was definitely fallen.
to me, it just seems like all the songs on there flow together. And I love the vulnerability of the lyrics.
also, i think that in the open door, a lot of the songs are a lot more personalized to amy's expeirences. So, i can relate to them a lot less. And in falen i felt like i could relate in one way to each song.

I'm curious about how AbH can be defined as an "era" by itself?

I should think that it would more appropriately fit with Fallen to make one era...

The Black Parade
12-30-2006, 08:12 AM
I'll always say Origin. The songs that were on Fallen that were taken from Origin felt tampered with. Origin was bolder, more of a statement. And I didn't like The Open Door at all really.

The open door so much deeper and varied theres classical and rock and so much more used to create the open door and amys voice this time round is definetly the best her vocals are out of this world and her live performances have improved by far and finally the band is stronger all round

Hmm... chose TOD and Origin and before. I feel bad for not having chosen Fallen (it rocks so much!!!!!! >.<)
TOD just because of how amazing their new album has been *obsessed over it for weeeeeeeeeeks* and Origin and before because I just love their early stuff!!! It can be so simple yet so beautiful... and at the same time have so much meaning in it. That probably makes no sense but oh well.
ABH rocks as well... but it's just the songs live so from a song point of view... meh. But from a watching/listening point of view... awesome :D

I think each and every one have their own uniqueness and sense of speciality. You can't really compare Fallen with say TOD. I think Fallen had more of a presence with the message "I'm here, like it or hate it, deal with it" whereas TOD had a more liberal sense to it. In terms of impact I think Fallen had a bigger effect on me since it was their first album. I was blown away by it because i've never heard anything quite like it. Both lyrically and musically it seemed to have a more in-your-face attitude which IMO is a good thing. Same thing would go for their demos and EP's. It has a different sense of greatness knowing they're a new band without firmly planted roots. All in all, I think we can all agree we love them all.

The Open Door mainly because I prefer the album but i agree with what some have said, I prefer the fact that evanescence actually did a UK tour for Fallen not two dates and one cancelled date they never came back for.. and plus they actually released their singles here... sweet sacrifice had big potential here but not anymore, evanescence have been really foolish on a lot of their decisions recently and its a shame cause they still have such potential *sigh*

TOD! It's alot harder more to my taste of music, as well as a musical masterpiece! Although Fallen got me into Ev. I like all the albums, they all have differences. It's weird to listen to Origin, the EP's, outtakes and demos because they seem a world away from TOD to me. Obviously it would though because Amy is the only puzzle piece left to the early music. Amy's voice wasn't what it is now but it sounded really sweet and kind of innocent on the early stuff:) My top 5 song list pulls from all eras! 1)YS 2)Last Song I'm Wasting on You 3)Whisper 4)October 5)Where Will You Go tied with Good Enough and Lose Control, o.k. that's 7 sorry:)

When looking at the word "era", I tend to think about the exposure Evanescence received with that album.

That is why "Fallen" is my choice; it's an amazing album and Evanescence was on the top of a lot of charts. Not to mention that they received a lot of press and their singles were doing amazing.

Personally, I like TOD better as an album, but the TOD era was very quiet.

I find it strange that so many people preferred Origin. It makes me wonder, since they think Evanescence were better so early on, why they are still fans. If I thought a group got no better than they were at the start, they would have grown stale for me and I would have moved on to avoid being completely disillusioned. So I find it personally intriguing that so many votes went to Origin.

I personally picked The Open Door. It's an exceptional album.

They're both awesome, although the style of the Fallen era was definately the best, despite the fact that the best piano parts are all from the Open Door era.

I prefer Origin above all else. "Lies" just did it for me.

TOD of course. Like nothing I've ever heard before in a good way. :)

....I have a question??

Why does ABH have its own era?

Fallen: Nothing's as powerful or complex as it is on TOD, but there's still the magic in being able to relate to almost every song. The songs all get boring after a bit because there isn't any of the weird sounds or super-hard-to-understand backing vocals that make you back up and listen to it over and over until you understand it. The lyrics and vocals are all amazing.

TOD: Overall more interesting than Fallen to me, but since I've never had a drunk-dialing ex-boyfriend, been unable to see the flaming balls in the sky, or wanted to feel as high as the sky, I can't relate to many of the songs. I love the lyrics in most of the songs. [excluding Lacrymosa and CMWYS]

Demos: I can relate to most of them, and that's awesome, but the bad quality of the recordings makes a lot of them seem musically flat and boring. The lyrics are really cool, but Amy is [understandably] off-key, raspy or shaky at some point in nearly all of the songs.

I guess it's a tie between all three.

Consider it the time after Ben left.

Consider it the time after Ben left.
Ummm...how would it count though?

Musically, ABH was the same. The only difference I have ever noticed is the different guitar solo during Haunted.

The time when Ben left is TOD. That is when the music was not written by Ben and Amy, but Terry and Amy.

TOD hands down! more drama, better music, sexier amy! better live!
LOVE IT!

hmm... I like them all for different reasons:

Origin: The music is much deeper, in my opinion.
Fallen: That was just the most fun, I think. What with the band making it big, and all the awesome sh*t they did.
TOD: Very dark and intricate. :)

So those are my 3 faves. :D

I went ahead and said The Open Door. Not necessarily because I liked the music better, because I can't decide between Fallen and TOD, but because I really actually began to fall in love with this band after hearing Sweet Sacrifice. I know, I know, I was WAY late on that one, but if I hadn't heard that song I probably wouldn't have taken the time to listen to the rest of the music. TOD was the first Ev CD I ever bought.
