Ok I dont know if there is a post about this already or not but I just wanted to know if anyone has any news about Amy Lee being in the new Johnny Cash tribute. I got a news email saying she wear a long black coat from Tim Burton in the video, but everytime I try to search for news I get nothing. If anyone has any news I would REALLY appreciate it :D

From the Blender interview with Amy:
Two days ago, Amy Lee was dying in a cemetery. “It was a shoot for the new Johnny Cash video,” she explains. “The concept is all these celebrities – Justin Timberlake, Tony Hawk, P. Diddy- dressed in black like Johnny Cash. You know, expressing the pain of the world. They said I could do whatever I wanted, so I said, ‘Why don’t I go to a cemetery and lay some flowers on a grave?’ We shot it at Trinity Church”, she says, referring to the soaring neo-Gothic cathedral three blocks from Ground Zero in lower Manhattan. “It was really creepy,” which, coming from her, is high praise.

I can't wait for this to come out. Johnny Cash was a pivotal icon in music. Anyone know when it will be coming out?
One thing I thought funny....Justin Timberlake and Amy Lee in the same video.
The world hath seen it all.

I've already asked this question over at EvClub so I'm going to use this opportunity to ask it here.
Does anyone know when this johnny Cash tribute video is going to air? Because I think a lot of us would like to see it.;)

I heard it was supposed to be a video from Johnny Cash's final album V: A Hundred Highways, but there's literally been no word about what the song might be. I know God's Gonna Cut You Down was the first single from it, but there's no video for that song.
I'm going to go out on a limb and speculate that it's going to be for A Legend In My Time. Don't quote me on it though.

I still think Amy was absolutely insane to wear that velvet coat she talked about when it was 105 and humid as crap outside. I would've put that thing on and passed out instantly (I had a hard enough time breathing during my short walk from work to the subway as it was lol).
Just thought I'd get that out there :p Haha but yeah, I am actually very interested to see how this video will look.

When I first saw this thread I was thinking 'Ev's covering Johnny Cash now?!?!' which isn't that bad of an idea, although I thought it sounded strange at first.
That's pretty cool! I can't wait to see how it turns out. Will the celebs involved be singing lyrics to the song used in the tribute?

That'd be even better if ALL the celebrities took a shot at singing.

GAH! (sorry I already posted this; and then it double posted times 10 over...so here we go again ;)
So I was watching muchmore music, and they were playing videos, and then at the bottom they had music news (in text form) flashing at the bottom of the screen, one was saying that a Jonnny Cash compilation CD would be out November 21st, So it would be to the best of my assumption that the video will make its debut between now (Oct 20th) and the same time next month.

I can't see them using that song, as it already has a video, and they wouldn't re-release a single for an album that is most likely old songs as it is.

I wouldn't say the right word was it was 'priveledge' for Amy to be in the video, she has just as much right to be there as any of the other celebs in the vid. :p Honoured is a better word, they should all be.

Well the reason why is because basically, HE'S THE MAN!.
He was the closest person we had to Elvis and Mozart. He not only made music, he encouraged others to create their own. And he knew great music of all genres since he covered Soundgarden and Trent Reznor amoung others.

I think my favorite part of the video as a whole was when Woody fell into the water.
I wonder how the video was shot and when because it looks like it took a long time to shoot to get all of those celebrities in and a lot of different locations.

Yeah, I was wondering about that myself. It would be awesome if they did a 'making the vido' for it!

Good question, Chris. We know that Amy's part was shot in the summer (she mentioned wearing that coat on one of the hottest days of the year...when it was 105, which I STILL think she is insane for), so they probably got all the other celebs over the summer, too. That's my guess, anyway.

To be perfectly honest, I did not like that video very much. I didn't think it had a lot of action to it, I thought the song was very boring because the tone of the music never changed, and most of the clebrities got a lot more camera time than Amy did because she was only in it for, maybe, 30 seconds or so. It is good to see celebrities like Johnny Depp, Bono, Sheryl Crow, Amy, Justin Timberlake, and Chris Martin participate in something that is a tribute to a country music singer who is as good and as legendary as Johnny Cash is, but I just thought they should have been performing a heck of a lot more than they did.

More like 10 or less seconds...

^More like five... lol.
Danny I don't think you qualify to give a review of the video if you weren't paying attention enough to notice Amy's nowhere near in it for 30 seconds. Not that I liked it either (EXCEPT FIVE SECONDS OF IT), but still.

it wouldn't suit the song if it had "more action" i think its a very fitting video.

Actually it was more like 6 seconds or something. I'm happy for all the celebrities that got to participate in this video..especially happy for Amy.:D
At least she got to be in the video. A tribute to a legendary country singer. To her, it must be an honor. I'm satisfied with the video. Owen Wilson was pretty good at the end. I think that's him..

I second that. It's a tribute video...not the next 'Thriller' video. I think the way it was shot and the subtlety (sp?) to it were quite fitting for a 'tribute' video.
And seriously...do we need to time how long she was in it? Who really cares? She was in it...that should mean a lot to everyone. To have her alongside the likes of past legends as well as today's stars was an honor I'm sure.

I know it was an honor for Amy to be in a video like this with so many stars. Believe me, if she did not think very highly of Johnny Cash, she would not have volunteered to star in this tribute in the first place.
I didn't mean to start a debate with what I said. I was just stating my own opinion on the video, which I have all the right in the world to do. Even though I am obsessed with this band, it still does not mean I have to enjoy everything that they are given the privelege to be apart of. Sure, I liked Amy's part, but I just thought she could have had a much broader role or been in the video a little longer than she was.

To put this whole situation to bed, I am finally beginning to realize from what is being said by you and everybody else that tribute videos are suppossed to have a lack of action to them because they are meant to show sadness and sorrow. Plus, the lack of action fits the tone of the song in the first place.

I'm glad Amy did this. Much like Kelly Clarkson taking part in the Dean Guitars tribute to Dimebag Darrell, people will be surprised to see Amy in a tribute to Johnny Cash....but he obviously meant enough to her that she wanted to be involved.

Woah, that video was FILLED with celebrities. I read that it would be a few celebrities and more, but I wouldn't have imagined there being that many. But that was awesome to see so many people paying tribute to such a great man. It was a really beautifully made video. And, of course, what an amazing song. I'm glad Amy took part in this.

We can have Johnny Cash AND Evanescence on the countdown at the same time, how awesome is that? :D

Last I checked this was a Johnny Cash tribute video, not the Amy Lee Showcase. Honestly, people...just be happy with the fact that she was actually in the video. And despite popular belief, the world doesn't revolve around Amy Lee.

****, now i have to re-write my life.
it surprises me, the ignorance of some people...johnny cash was the man.... he wrote about things and spoke his mind even when they were too riskay [screw spelling that word] for the time period. he paved the way for all musicians to write and play how they do today. he's a freaking classic, only one of the biggest most respected people in music, and i'm seeing people here saying.. who's johnny cash?

I liked the video and the song that was chosen. Amy Lee looked very beautiful and victorian IMHO. It was kind of hard to see for only a few seconds. At least she wasn't 1/2 dressed like most of the other female singers on there.

It's great that she did it - and great of all the other celebrities to lend a hand - I get a kick out of collaborations like this. It's a chance to see a really...well, bizarre mix of people all together. Would have been better if Amy was singing on it, though....

I was in the middle of making a thread about this and listing the stars in it when I decided to do a 2nd search (my 1st search didn't find this thread). My fam was watching CMT when I saw this video...the whole time I'm pointing out all the oddballs "wtf Justin Timberlake....AMY?!?!...wth Jay Z?!?!?!!?"
Odd video to say the least. Sorry but I think they could have done better (those shots with the shaky camera drove me NUTS). Still, not a bad concept.

If you think that's bad. A while back at where I work in the electronics department of a major retail store, I had someone who wanted me to tell her what country music DVDs we had in stock. So I went down the list of of our stock which included Alan Jackson, Keith Urban, etc. And she would answer, "I've got that already." Then I got to "Johnny Cash: Live at Montrose" and she exclaimed, "Who???"
Thinking maybe this supposed country music fan misheard me, I replied, "Johnny Cash. You know, 'Hurt,' 'Folsom Prison Blues,' 'A Boy Named Sue, 'I Walk The Line,' which is the title of the movie about his life." She then says, " I still don't know who you're talking about. Is he cute?" So this lady's only reason she listens to country music is because of all the "pretty boys" populating that genre these days.
Talk about discouraging.

And because I'm lame, I searched for Amy's eye towards the end of the music video where they had the closeups of everyone's eyes. I don't think they actually used everyone though and I couldn't find hers.
This is neat. I'm not a Johnny Cash fan (though I do know who he is) and the shaky comera was annoying but it was neat to watch. Besides, where else can you find Johnny Depp and Amy Lee in the same place? Lisa Marie looked good, too.
