Has there been anybody you know that you'd least expect say that they like Ev?
When were writing these feature article things about each other in my 7th grade English class, I told the person who was writing about me that my favorite band was Evanscence and then my teacher saw that and said that she liked Ev, including her daughters, and she said she took them to a show and I was thinking to myself "oh man, this woman's the bomb!" :p But that makes me wonder if her daughters are either on Evboard or this board o_0 Or if them liking Ev was just a phase...I don't really know...
My mom said she liked Fallen, which surprised me becaue I thought it would be a little too heavy for her. Normally she listens to artists like Sarah McLaughlin and LeeAnn Rhymes.

When i was in high school the teachers used to let me play on the computer and so i'd play my fallen album on there and the entire class would hear it , most of them liked it and the teachers started liking it. One week i didn't bring and so they ask were it was so i started bringing it again.

Coach would know. ;)
I was talking to my parents about the Boston show last Sunday when we were going to see my brother compete in the marching band, and two moms walked by and were like 'oh you went to a concert? Who'd you see?' And I was like 'Evanescence,' expecting to have to reference BMTL and MI and explain who they were, but nope...both of them were like, "O.O REALLY? Oh wow, that girl's got such an amazing voice! How were they?" And I was like "haha they were fantastic." I was surprised that they both knew Ev and liked them.

My aunt, she said she wanted to go and see them on their tour in the UK but unfortunately they had sold out. Actually a lot of older people do like Ev which I should not be totally suprised about really. :p

Well....my father doesn't usually listen to female fronted bands or rock bands from today. But when I played Going Under in his car last year, he loved it. He loved the song, Amy's voice and everything. So I gave him a copy of the Fallen CD and Ev is one of his favorite bands now.

Me.
Seriously, when I first met my best friend Angela this is basically what we thought of each other (we admitted it about three months after we met).
me: *thinking* "Ew, it's another 'I suck!' goth girl from Hot Topic. Been there, done that, bet she doesn't even know what good music sounds like."
Angela: *thinking* "Ew, prep, probably a little slut who doesn't have any idea who Amy Lee is."
Later:
Angela: "Hey, you're not that bad. What kind of music do you like?"
me: "Well, I love Evanescence-"
Angela: "What?!"
me: "... I love Evanescence."
Angela: "You. So. Rock."

My father. I thought he wouldn't like them because some of their songs are really soft and he's mr. alternative rock.
Turns out he thinks they're amazing and wants to see them live again next time they come back to Philly.

One of my professors in 4th Year University. He mentioned them once during a lecture saying "My favourite cd, by Evanescence" I cheered from the back of the room and he and I have been buddies ever since :P In fact when I went to the show in Toronto this year and met the band I sent him an email sharing the exciting news. :P

My driving instructor oddly enough, he's into Ev. I was amazed, he's about the same age as my mum...44ish
I've still got to convince him to let me play ev in the car yet though ;) ... my test's on tuesday so I'll probably only get to play it when doing my pass plus :)

I only have one thing to say:
In last years show in Greece, as we were all standing in the queue waitin to get in, these 50 yr old ladies showed up, we figured theyre the mums of jst kids that had come cos they appeared to be so correct and nicely dressed....5 minutes into the show we saw them again......HEADBANGING like u wudnt believe!!!!
now if THATS not the magic of evanescence i dont know what is
My friend Daniel...it was a HUGE surprise, this guy listens to Barbara Streisand, Elton John and the Russian singer Liontev.
He really doesn't like any kind of rock music, so I gave him a CD of TOD and HE LOVES IT!!! His favourite song is Lacrymosa.
THis shows how much quality Evanescence's music has, people of all ages and all music tastes like it!
Draconian
10-15-2006, 05:15 PM
My dad likes them, mostly. Both my parents think Amy has a beautiful voice, but my dad is in love with Lacrymosa.
Which is odd, considering he usually listens to Celtic music, Colors of the Wind, and chanting Spanish monks.

My friend who's in love with R&B/Rap/Hip-Hop likes Evanescence.
Her favourite song is "The Last Song I'm Wasting On You" -- she loves it so much she's going to perform it when a talent show or what not opens up near her.
That's gotta say a lot if a R&B/Rap/Hip-Hop addict chooses Evanescence to sing in front of everyone :D

LMAO!! I'm not really sure you're right :p
Erm, most people are surprised that I love Ev, but the person that truly surprised me was my best mate. She hates almost anything, and first tim she heard BMTL she said it was "just ok". Second time she really loved it, so now she likes Ev a bit. Well, she did, until my obsession started
Beautifully Chaotic

Not that shocking, But my dad is completly in love with Amy's voice. He knows all the songs and sometimes tells me "Shelly, put Fallen in the Stereo!" :) And my dad is 64!

I don't really know anyone that I was shocked to know liked Evanescence,
but I was more shocked of how many people actually do like Evanescence.
Especially coming to college, I thought I'd be the only person who has ever heard of the band,
but surprisingly most of the people I've met here like Evanescence.

Well, the one night, a friend and I had to stay after school to run the booth for a v-ball tourniment. i had just bought TOD so we were listening to it, obviously. i went into the classroom that is just off the kitchen and my english teacher was there. i asked her for some scissors (not sure why) then she sed "here you go, and stop stealing my CD!" and then i saw that she was holding her copy of TOD, i was like totally shocked, lol. actually, come to think of it, i'm not all that surprised, she is like a really cool teacher, lol, and i realize how strange that sounds. I wonder what her fav. song is? lol

So, there I am, sitting in the salon chair, getting a haircut, with this 45 y-o woman chattering on while shearing my locks to a nice short length.
She pulls the cloth back to use a large pair of Hedge Clippers on the back of my neck and stops. . goes "hmmmmmmmmm. . . is that an Evanescence shirt?" as if amazed I was wearing one Well ..gee. . yes it is sweety !! And we go on for another 10 minutes about Amy and the Band. Turns out her husband had bought her the Open Door CD about 6 weeks prior, and she was just loving it ! !
i give her the Ev-site address. . the address for HERE, tell her about OutOftheShadows and urge her to join THERE as well, then pay my bill and head out the door.
Almost amazing where you run into that special group of fans. . the ones you seldom see or hear about because they don't wear Ev-shirts or memorabilia, and don't hang a sign on their neck that says "will listen to Evanescence for food"

It is kinda wierd seeing teachers out of school. Like we all think they sleep behind their desks, or something. The weirdest person I know that listens to Evanescence is my grandma. I was talking about them once, and she says "You like them, too?" Turns out she had Fallen, and an MP3 full of all their songs.

The fact that I love EV is shocks some people. Most people pictured me as someone who never listened to music and found it trivial (I never bothered to correct them). I also don't look EV-ish (if that even is a word) at all.
My mother likes EV and that shocks me. She usually listens to Celine Dion (*twitches*) and other pop-ish artists.
She always sings along when I'm playing EV on my iPod or in the car, which is sort of embarassing on my part...
But why is it shocking that some people you wouldn't expect love EV? I mean, of course they do, who wouldn't?!

Today we were sitting in class, murmuring Hello with my friend who is a fan like me. Just then our English teacher came in sat on her desk and started singing Hello. Loudly. I grinned and she said "I love Evanescence. Especcially Fields of Innocence and Bring Me To Life." Well, she knows it good enough to favourite a song which isn't released in an album. Cool. Do your teachers listen to Evanescence?
Field of Innocence is in Origin.
But then again, that's not an album. So nevermind. :X
A few friends of mine... but they only like Ev because the members are all Christian.. which kind of pisses me off.

Hehe... I have no clue how to answer this question. A lot of people are totally shocked that rock music is my favourite genre of music. We had a survey last year, and I said that I loved rock, and people were all like, "Holy crap! You're joking, right? I never would have expected that." I suppose it's because a lot of people see me all shy and quiet and stuff, and rock music is completely opposite to that. :p
But I wish one of my teachers would like Ev. Most of my teachers are into Christian music (well, I do go to a Catholic school) or classical music. Some of them like rap (ugh). But my homeroom teacher last year told me that she loves rock music and that she loves Greenday, so maybe I can convert her to Ev... Hey, it's worth a shot, right?

My dog... and i'm being perfectly serious. She likes to come into my room when i play Ev songs on my speakers. I think she particularly likes Thoughtless. She just comes in and lies around. When i turn the speakers off she gets up and looks at me as if expecting me to take her on a walk now or something. I took a pic of her during one of these moments.

Now that's just cute. THe dog, I mean. Sadly I don't really have any friends who are Ev fans because, well, they're not typically the type of music I like, but for some reason I've just fallen in love with them in the last year. Well, more like the last 6 months. In any case I am a HUGE fan now. I wish I knew someone who was an Ev fan though b/c I want to go to a concert, but not alone. And not with someone who's going to be like "Ugh, this sucks can we leave" every five seconds. Poo.

I'm a shy girl too and when I say I like Evanescence for the first time in front of someone they usually stare at me like if I should see a doctor. They act like this probably cause I don't look like a tipical ev fan (or any kind of rock music fan) and they think I'm that responsable, inteligent girl that is just boring but I'm not. I just don't talk a lot with other people just to closed friends and those are already tired of earing me talk about EV so they just tell me to shut up when I start. And I'm still surprised (not much cus they're fantastic) that I'm soooooooo obcessed. Pour of me I don't have anyone to go with me see them live (when they come to Portugal again):( So yeah I'm the person I'd least expect to like them:)

Did you know the group RBD like Evanescence?
They [meaning, RBD] listed TOD as the number one album of the year in Billboard magazine. I was surprised when I first read this because they are basically the epiphany of the ultimate pop group. That comes to show that you can't judge a book by it's cover. Also, that Evanescence's music could reach out to all type of people.

I can think of a bunch of people who I'd least expect to like Ev. First there's my seventh grade geography teacher who's drab and boring and odd. I walked in to class with an Ev t-shirt on and my teacher says, "Oh, You like Evanescence? They're good!!" Then there was my eight grade teacher this year, coincidently social studies again. I forget why the topic came about but for whatever reason he told the class he had TOD in his cd player in his car. I was pretty surprised.
Then there was my physical theropest who's like 50 years old and listens to country asking me to let her borrow TOD because she hadn't heard the full album yet. She loved it and went out and bought it!

The other day I was in a local Walmart in the electronics section, and PunchMuch (a music video request channel) was playing "Lithium" on one of the televisions. I stopped to watch, of course, and noticed an older man do the same, which I thought was pretty cool. But then, this elderly lady, probably in her 80s, came around the corner and was *singing along*! She knew all the words, and that kind of floored me. I think it's awesome Evanescence is a band that all ages listen and relate to :).
