I became a fan when a close friend of mine introduced me to Evanescence's music because he thought I'd love the lyrics and possibly relate to them. And I did. Plus the music is just stunning, Evanescence is one of the only musical artists I could listen to over and over again without tiring of them.

Evanescence was the first, and possibily the only band that I've listened to that I absolutely, without fail, love every song.

Their albums are seriously the only albums I've ever completely listened to, and thought every single song was amazing.

Most of the time, you buy an album because the artist released a single or two from that album, and you like those songs, so you figure "hey, why not go buy the CD, i'll probably love it", then you buy it, listen to it, and find out that it wasn't worth the $15 because the only songs you like are the singles.

Aside from just simply liking the songs and relating to their lyrics, I appreciate their dedication.

At the time you had Ben, Amy, and David...these were kids in their 20s if that, they worked really hard to hone their craft, and it has paid off ten-thousand fold. They were no "overnight sensation" even though the world says so...but the fact that they're close to my age and that they worked so long to at the end get a record deal AND be successful is amazing.

I am an ev fan for many reasons. first reason in their music kicks ass. next is because it is empowering and helps me stand up for myself and to cope with hard situations. i can totally relate to amy and she has (without knowing) totally helped me out through alot of rough times in my life. for example....when i was in high school i was going nowhere. all through the school years actually. i was a loner who longed to fit in. i would do almost anything to get in with the "popular" crowd. i tried to dress like them and act like them for years. it never worked, and i was often alone when school was out. no plans on the weekend or evening. after graduation i started work and that occupied most of my time. after becoming a huge ev fan in 2003, amy helped me realize that it doesn't matter what people think of you, and life is what you make out of it. i wish i could relive my school days just so i can do it as myself and not someone trying to fit in. i wish i was stronger then. evanescence has helped me become who i am today. and i have more friends now then i could have ever asked for back then. thanks ev, especially amy, i owe it to you!

To be honest...I have no clue why. I haven't lived a troubled life, so I can't relate to the lyrics. Maybe because its really dark subject matter, though not in the manner that I prefer. I agree completely. Obviously, the main reason I'm an Ev fan is because I like the music--I think that's the case for everyone. They combine basically every type or aspect of music that I love. Why am I an Evanescence fan? I don't know where to start. Here I was this little 14-year-old (in 2003) that was into nothing but Christian music. I thought everything else sucked. Then came Bring Me To Life on TV. It was love at first listen. I have been obsessed ever since. I listen to Evanescence every day. If it wasn't for them I wouldn't be into a lot of the bands I am into today. I never get tired of them. They have changed me in alot of ways. I respect them too much, so I buy their c.d.s no matter how much they cost. I first heared "Bring Me To Life" in the Daredevil movie when I rented it. I never knew who the band was who preformed it but I knew I liked them. I was too afraid to start liking it because back then rap seemed to be the only thing floating around.

Before then, I was clouded with crap rap, r&b, hip hop, pop and punk rock everywhere. I hated rap and rap related genres (not to mention I'm too fond of punk rock that much) so I didn't really listen to music that much till I ran into the band's music again. I was searching around on YouTube and found an AMV (anime music video) with the song called "Taking Me Over", I abosultley adored Amy's voice and the fact that there was a piano was a fresh change and it incited my attention. i discovered it was a band called "Evanescence" and was surprised to realise it was them who created "Bring Me to Life". I started delving into their history and other songs they created and after a few more weeks I knew this was going to be my favourite band. It was unique. i I was about the only one in my entire school who actually thought this band was amazing. Everyone else thought they were just emo **** (you can only imagine what I said back to them about rap). I felt a bit happy that I had found something that seperated me apart from the rest of the stereotypes at my school.

I love EV's songs because of course, Amy's voice is gorgeous and better than any other artist/band I've heared in ages. Most other artist suck live, but not them. They actually preform well. Their lyrics are true and actually mean more than most songs do. It has depth and meaning and dosen't drone on for five minutes about some "slutty hoe I did last night". I can always find a way to relate to their music even if it hasn't happened to me (example. Call Me When You're Sober). Their music helps me cope with problems in my own life (whether it be abuse, breakups, death or just some stupid things like failing a test.)

I now have all their current albums (Fallen, Anywhere but Home, TOD) except for Origin, which I don't even consider an album anyway. I can recite all the lyrics from memory and never get tired of listening to their songs.

I also love their personalities, they seem a happy for people who've written such sad/depressing songs. Amy is surprisingly modest about herself and still speaks nice about others, even if they've hurt her. (She's never once talked bad about Ben or anyone else, or at least as far as I know). She dosen't fit in with a stereotype and dosent' look like an overly makeuped slut (like most celebrities do, nowadays).

So, in short, I listen to them for many reasons and I can't wait to find out what great stuff they have comming for us in the next album!

I see my love for EV as an extension of my love for classical music and well-crafted imagery through song. I love genuine emotive tales told through music, minor musical masterpieces, and the quiet story about those lost and alone who end up finding something of themselves, or others, to reach out to -- all of which both classical music and EV have in abundance. I love classical music for the storyline element and, at the same time, it's something that I've come to love in EV. They're more than just songs sung and performed by talents musicians -- they're stories weaved by minstrels that likes of which haven't been seen in modern music for many, many years. These are the types of aspects that first attracted me to the music of EV. Since then, their style has evolved, as has my love and interest in their evolution.

While they, and Amy in particular, still have/has the classical roots I've found myself enjoying since the beginning... they are so much more now. The imagery-through-song element is still there, and perhaps a little stronger now through The Open Door, and at the same time, it still evokes the same types of feelings and interest in me that I've not felt from anything other than classical music.

I totally agree with you, EndlessPain. My mom passed away three years ago, and MI was really the first song that grabbed me and expressed how i felt too.

With EV i just believe they are genuine artists, not some fake, plastic band like sooo many others getting airtime right now. I love all of their songs, from the ep's, origin, fallen and especially TOD. All their lyrics are real and have true feeling and meaning behind them. The music itself is inspring and sometimes haunting. And Amy's voice! Need I say more? She is the absolute best vocalist i've ever heard...truly. I also love the fact that Amy and the guys all seem very genuine and really down to earth. After buying ABH, I fell in love with them even more. I love everything from their music to their videos to their interviews and interactions with each other and their fans. I also totally respect the fact that Amy doesn't use her beauty or sexuality to sell something, (and we all know how gorgeous she is) ;-) But, she relies on her real talent unlike some other fem artists who use their bodies to sell more albums or to gain more attention. I respect Amy because she is a strong, beautiful, intelligent and talented young woman, yet seems to retain an humbleness and genuine sincerity and kindness.

Include the piano in some of the musics and a female voice singing rock music are awesome (I also prefer female voice than male voice).

Because I think they are all amazing artists. They are the band i look up too. Amy is incredible at Piano, which is my favorite instrument and I look up to her a lot and I practice hard to be able to play like that, and she has an amazing voice. I've had people tell me I sound a lot like her and though I don't totally agree with them because there is no way I'm that good it is one of the bests compliments I could ever receive. Full of meaning, joy, pain, hurt, sadness, loneliness, hope, grief, longing, it's all there, and I am taken along with it. An emotional journey in each song from start to finish. What a ride!

Well, reason number 1 is because they are just amazing. They are so honest and brilliantly original, and nothing is beyond them. You can't beat them.

Number 2 is what they've done for me: they saved me on countless occasions. Not wanting to sound mega goth or anything, but I was in a really bad place and the words to Everybodys Fool fitted SO well with what was happening to me. That song saved me.

Number 3 - well, they're just hilarious, aren't they? I'm always laughing at things they say in Kerrang! and on videos. WHAT legends. I can't believe how funny they are :]

1. Amy Lee always seems to find such an amazing melody that fits the song that she writes. If you tried putting the melodies with different words, it just wouldn't work out.

I think Amy has an amazing voice, and the music is awesome. I like playing the loud, long, dramatic, epic songs like Whisper and Lacrymosa, but I also like the softer songs and the acoustic versions (My Immortal, October, All That I'm Living For acoustic). There is quite a difference in style from, say, Whisper to The Last Song I'm Wasting On You, but Ev manage to make it all sound great.

I tend to go through periods of listening to the different albums for a while. Sometimes I listen to Fallen/Anywhere But Home; it's dark and loud and has the metaphorical lyrics. Sometimes I listen to The Open Door, because it's louder and heavier. Sometimes (well most of the time :p) I listen to Origin - it makes me think "Wow, this is great!" every time. I like how it's quite relaxing (esp. songs like Anywhere) and it's a bit creepy (like Eternal and Origin (Song)). I tend to 'rediscover' each album every few days - by listening to it, it reminds me what I liked so much about it in the first place :D

I like how the lyrics are very powerful, yet they do not resort to swearing. I do listen to music with swearing in, but I have a big respect for Ev for writing fantastic lyrics without them.

I first heard BMTL and became interested in the band. Then I saw the video on MTV2 Rock and was hooked even more.

I almost didn't buy the album at first since I walked past it twice at Sam Goody's before finally saying what the hell and getting it. It was one of the only albums I ever listened to from start to finish first listen.

I've had some great memories with EV so I'll always be a fan no matter the line-up changes and other turmoil.

First of all, there is AMY. She's more than just my favourite singer, or my icon...she's all my life...I live because of her...without her I would never have been this way. I love her more than everything and everyone!!!!!
On second thoughts, the music that Evanescence does is unique, no one has never done something even near to it. They're the best. In these songs I can hear the voice of my heart singing all that I feel inside. That's awesome, I can't describe it.
I love everything about Evanescence, in a way, they really make my life has sense...I need them everyday to survive ^^!

Why would anyone NOT love Evanescence?!?! (stupid qusestion... I know!) Exactly like before_the_dawn said, I could write a novel about why I love them, but that would take up the next three days of your life... so I'll just make it short and sweet.

Amy is just someome remarkable. She might not know it (although I'm sure she does), but she has made such an impact on young women (and young men of course) all around the world, and I'm one of them! You feel like you can relate to what she's saying in her songs, and sometimes you need to know that someone cares and you're not alone. And she's not one of those brainless stars that sells her body just to get publicity! And that makes me really proud of her!!!!!!! I just can't even describe it!

I'm not gonna say that she's made me who I am today, but her music did help me through some difficult times, and for that I am forever grateful. And I'm also not gonna say that I love her more than anyone or anything else in the world, because I don't... but I do love her with all my heart!!!!!

Just as -Fallen Angel- said, Amys music did help me through something difficult in my life. By then I didn't even knew it helped me, but now I know it did. I'm not depressed anymore.
I had problems with myself, feeling that I wasn't good enough. All the pressures what was on my shoulders pulled me down. Nobody knew, I didn't tell anyone. I bet my friends would die in shock if I told them about it now.
Thing is, when I heared the music of Evanescence I was captured. Evanescence opened a new door in my life, a door into a new and better world. The world of goths, if I could call it that. x) The world where emotions is something you could talk about, where you don't have to wear those special clothes to be accepted. I felt so released, I felt like I finally found myself. I didn't have to live after the book anymore. I could be the silly and uncool nerd I really am.

No matter what someone is always going though a worse patch in life then you are, u look at ppl who die because they don’t have a choice, we do have a choice and we need to make the right ones, evanescence helps me get though so much hard times, listening to lyrics, finding a way out and not letting anyone hurt me again. Evanescence lyrics are strong and epic and it hard to understand but if you understand the lyrics, understand why the band wrote the lyrics then you can relate to it a lot. I admire Amy Lee. She stands strong in the face of adversity and isn't afraid to admit when she's been hurt and how it makes her stronger. She's a woman with a lot of dignity and self respect which I admire, especially since there are a lot of other women out there in her industry more interested in taking their clothes off than making decent music. Amy Lee is definitely my role model.

When I first heard of Evanescence and their songs "Bring me to life" and "My Immortal" on the radio I fell in love, and looked for more songs from them. And I was just like, "OMG! This is awesome!"
And since then I've been lost in Ev! Nothing could ever compare!
I must admit that I don't usually like to spend much money on actually buying CD's in these internet days... But I would spend the last dime I had on anything Ev related! Because they are worth it! :D

Because I can relate to every single song. That's why I love them. Their music is so powerful and beautiful. It's not ear-shattering and it definitely isn't noise.

Definitely because of their music. It's always spoken to me, and showed that I definitely wasn't the only one who was depressed or going through hard times. I didn't admire Amy at first, no. I admired the entire band for facing what crap they needed to, (except now, not...yeah)... but now...since everything is more positive and Amy has been opening up, I've been given hope..that maybe.. I won't be sick/hurting forever. If Amy can survive all of her emotion turmoil, then..maybe, so can I. Evanescence (and Within Temptation) have saved my life on numerous occasions. And then, I should add to my first post that Evanescence is the band who showed me the right path to walk when I was younger. I needed to understand some things of the world and Amy's songs explained me everything. Like, "why do they do that? why they react this way?" she taught me everything. Other people's mind is not so hard to understand now as it used to be. It's been all easier since I know Evanescence. And then they've been my first band, they're my fav band till now and I can hear other bands, but they will always be the best for me and have a great special room in my heart.

Nah, seriously... I believe that there are a lot of reasons of why I consider myself an EvFan. Most importantly, I believe, would be because listening to their music has always been very helpful for me in getting over a lot of rough times in the past and throughout my life. It's like, they've been there for me when I needed them the most. I always find them there for me whenever I need them.

I don't listen to Evanescence because I can apply it into my life. I typically keep entertainment and life seperate, just because there is so much corruption masked in entertainment, that it'd be too easy to be corrupted as well. Not that Evanescence is all that corrupted. ;)

However, I can't deny Evanescence has this grip on me that's so hauntingly pleasing. That's why I consider myself an Evanescence fan. :)
