Least Favourite Song

There aren't any Evanescence songs that I flat-out don't like, but... off of The Open Door, I'd have to say that Your Star is one of my least favorites, and I don't like Everybody's Fool nearly as much as the other songs off of Fallen.

There, I've said my two cents. I'm feeling much better now. ;)

I think mine would be Call Me When You`re Sober. I like it and all, it just feels more commercial, and everyone`s playing it everywhere, and so now, people are liking Evanescence just because. They don`t even listen to any of the music! And it just makes me mad.
I kind of agree, but I do like CMWYS. I don't like that Lithium's gonna be a single though...it's such a beautiful song and it's probably going to be overplayed and ruined.

Lyrically the song is the weakest one I've ever heard by Evanescence.
And I cannot stand Amy's singing in this track.
It annoys me so bad I find , myself wanting to choke somebody so hard :p

I never liked this song, not from first listening and even now after probably hearing ot for over 5,000 times.
It's a weak song lyrically, and apart from the "How could I, I burned paradise" part I just can't listen to it.

The song couldn've have been good even if it was happy (Good Enough was actually really great and still fir EV's style) but Anywhere is just, sadly enough, near crap. The lyrics are tolerant, but the music is just, bleh. So much more could have been done with it but wasn't.

I'm the same way! Like, when I first heard Your Star I hated it... well, at least didn't like it. But now it's one of my favorites haha, it's like songs have to grow on me. Anyway, I'd say my overall least favorite is probably... Tourniquet. Not to say I dislike it, it's just my least favorite. :)

It's tough. I was thinking October because i've never really been able to really listen to it proply...but i'm taking another listen. It's alot more beautiful than i remember, so scrap that thought. I've just listened to all i thought i was as keen on as alot of thers, and it's like i've discovered Ev again....they're quite a bit different to what we think of Ev today. I really don't know......and by the way, what's with the thing against Lose Control, that's one of my top songs!

Second, it's kind of slowed down. Not to mention the video being on 7 times in the space of the 45 minutes it takes for me to get ready for school. And it was played at every single dance during high school, sometimes twice as an encore.

The EP version of Imaginary, which Evfans on Evboard voted as the worst Ev song ever.

That means that Imaginary is my favorite AND least favorite Ev song of all time lol.

Ugh, EvBoard. Also, I can see why it was rated the worst: the audio quality. The guitar itself is gorgeous and all, but...the crescendos on FLOOOOOWEERRRRSSSS is just so LOUD! I hate having to fool around with the volume control during a whole song, seeing as the rest of it is so quiet even by normal standards. And it is sung pretty slow....

I've had all their songs at one point but sometimes a song bugged me enough to delete it, so I might forget those ever existed.

Yeah I see what you're saying, but I don't get over-annoyed by them. I can still listen to them. I absolutely agree with all of what you listed except for "Breathe No More," but I don't have the studio version of it so I can't really judge. What's this about a ten-minute long version of "Ascension of the Spirit"? That's the first I've heard of it. I googled it, and this came up: "Sound Asleep EP song "Ascension of the Spirit" includes 3:16 of orchestra, :10 seconds of a musical interlude, :07 of movie quotes (When a Man loves a woman) and eight minutes of silence. " Does anyone know where I can hear this?

Least fave from Fallen...err..PROBABLY Haunted, but I really love it. It's my least favourite but it's still FANTASTIC.

Least fave from TOD would be Lose Control. I adore the lyrics but I just don't hear Amy's usual passion in it.

I dono. I'm not too fond of "The Only One." I just can't seem to get into it. I've tried, but for me it's one of those in-between songs where you can't really rock out but then it's not really sad either...just my opinion.

Wow, people who don't like Hello... Like You... Good Enough... Imaginary... I guess they're the less 'rock-out' songs of Evanescence, so I get why people who like that aspect of Evanescence wouldn't like the quieter songs as much. But they're my favourite songs because I really like the more subtle and softer side of the band's music.

Anyway:
Pre-Fallen: Where Will You Go. For me, this song is ruined by the terrible singing (yeah, shoot me). You can hear that Amy is really not using her voice properly, and it makes me cringe. I don't know which version I have though, because I accidentally got a fake copy of 'Origin'. (By the way, I like Listen to the Rain, which a lot of people seem to dislike. Same reasoning as above, I guess.)

Fallen: Taking Over Me's music is nothing special, and I could never get into Haunted. I think that the chorus is too repetitive.

The Open Door: Strangely Enough, I like Lose Control. I think it's a very unique piece of music. Anyway, at first I disliked Sweet Sacrifice and Your Star, but now they're growing on me. I still think that Your Star doesn't really fit together well though. Now my least favourite is The Only One, probably because it doesn't stand out as being different, like all the others.

For those of you who don't like loose control beacuse you don't get it, you might just be too young to. What I believe she's trying to say is she's so tired of being in control all the time, she just wants to go nuts for once to see how it feels. Seriously there comes a time in your teenage (sometimes later) life when you juat have to try something just once, just to see. Kind of like the teenage version of a mid-life crisis. I, personlly really love that song.

Yeah, Sadily she's done so many remakes of the song I doubt she'll do another one, or atleast if she does it won't be published.

From Origin I don't particularly like.... no I adore all of them.
Fallen it has to be My Last Breathe or Haunted.

I really liked the YouTube thing...it's kind of how I've always imagined the song being portrayed. I know this is gonna sound weird, but in regard to "Lose Control" itself, I really, really love the song - but I can't stand listening to it. I think it's a great song, but the way it's arranged..I just don't like it. There's too much focus on the instrumental and synth sounds for me - and as a band, I don't feel Evanescence has enough growth in that department to make it work. I don't know what it is, if it's Ben's leaving the band, or just a differently developed sound, but it seems to me that a lot of songs on The Open Door are that way. I mean, I'm not saying it's a bad thing - I still enjoy a lot of them, but they seem to have a different quality, similar to some of their older songs that I don't really like as much. I do enjoy their music still...but recently I've been finding it hard to listen to a lot of it, especially off The Open Door without thinking 'ok, where's the boom! instrumentation?' It's just the arrangement of the chords in songs like "Lose Control" and "The Only One" that I can't stand to listen to. I still like them though.

No, I'm pretty big on grammar myself. I just missed that. I don't know...it's not that big of a deal to me, because with the way the English language has changed over centuries, the way certain things are phrased seem to me as though they can go one way or another, regardless of modern grammatical rules. For stuff like that, I tend to say it's artistic license, because I can't imagine how it would sound as "you and me," and it's not a recurring error.

That's what I love so much about Ev, is that they don't stick to just one specific genre and formula for everything. They branch out in different directions and experiment with different things, as in the songs listed above, and many on TOD. I think that's what separates Ev from other modern artists.

From Fallen: Really hard for me to choose because I love all of Fallen's tracks. But if I had to choose, it'd be My Immortal. I don't really like the version on track four. It's sort of boring and takes too long to get into. I do love it, but it's almost nothing compared to the "Band" and "Mystary" versions.

From TOD: Really hard to choose because I also love all of TOD tracks. But Lose Control takes the cake. But I do like it more now than when I first heard it.

From Origin: Anywhere. It greatly rivals Understanding (Sound Asleep) as my least favourite Evanescence song.

^I have a small issue with Where Will You Go. Towards the end of the song, Amy's voice changes key and it sounds flat...or sharp...just off. It really bugs the heck outta me, and though I like the song, I can't listen to it very often. It drives me crazy.

^I am positively sick unto death of My Immortal. I don't think it was ever the strongest song for me, lyrically, because I couldn't relate to it as much as the others, but it certainly didn't help that they played the hell out of it on the radio. On top of that, my chior sang it--at the time, that was the coolest thing ever, but not long afterwards, I just started fastfowarding to Haunted. To this day, I still can't listen to it too often.

^CMWYS is probably my least favorite song from TOD. I like the song, and I liked it even more after I watched the video (because I'm a sucker for anything w/ Little Red Riding Hood--see sig), but lyrically, it just didn't grab me. I tend to hate breakup songs. I will admit that out of all the breakup songs I've heard, it's my favorite, but I can't say I've been impressed by many in that particular subject vein. Also, the music itself just doesn't sound like Evanescence. Switch Amy out with someone else in that song, and it sounds like almost every other rock band out there. I guess the song is just too 'real world' for me. More whimsy, I say! :yes:

The one song I always skip on TOD is All That I'm Living For - I just can't listen to it, can't put my finger on it, but it drives me crazy. Snow White Queen I skip a lot too, although it's starting to grow on me more...

From Fallen I never really got into Haunted or Tourniquet, so I skip them a lot too...

For the record, Lose Control is my second fave on TOD, don't know why people hate it! :/

I cringe every time and it really spoils the song for me :( perhaps I'll mix the instrumental with the original and remove those lines, because I love the rest and the piano is gorgeous.

I love all of the songs, but if I had to pick my least favorite, it would probably be Call Me When You're Sober merely because it's gotten too popular for me.... playing alongside justin timberlake and fergie....I mean I still love the song.... but I guess it really has to do with my war against society, not the music itself...but again i had trouble picking my least fav.... haha. at least people call bring me to life halloween music :)

I just find that the lyrical theme in so many Open Door songs is quite similar (my ex is an idiot, Im now stronger). It wears a little after a while. I just find that some songs are missing the same passion and maybe innocence of the Demo's and Origin.

I love everything from pre-Fallen and Fallen- Taking over me seems a little cliche, but still great...

My Immortal: thats a tough one. I LOVE the Origin version, but to me it's Ben's song- since hes left I can't really make myself listen to the Fallen version (track 4, cuz my CD has the Origin version on it too) as often...
