I'm unable to find any mention of Evanescence on lippupalvelu.fi.

Tickets are not on sale yet. Still, this has been announced in leading finnish papers and radio-stations. It's even being advertised on tv.

It will be on lippupalvelu soon. Lippupalvelu starts selling tickets at 9.00 on saturday 31.3

Doors open at 18.30, playing begins ~20.00

I will definitely be there, -if I manage to get a ticket. I'm so worried about my ticket that I won't be able to find any peace inside before the ticket is safely in my pocket. I'm going to go to ticket service and my mother will at home. If I see a huge queu at the ticket service, I wil call my mother to try to get them from the net.

I was dissaponited before because of evanescencewebsite spreading fake information about Ev being on the Korn family values concert in Finland 11.6. Though it was only sold by Korn's name, I believed it and bought a ticket for that. But what comes to that ticket, I can sell it on (won't go to watch Korn).

This is so much cooler than the Family Values thing would have been. When I finally have my ticket, I will surely be floating on vanilla clouds.

But I didn't go to seventh heaven yet. Ev has a lot of fans and now everyone knows about his cause people watch tv. I might not get a ticket... I have to be realistic for a few more days.

I think we all get a ticket. Are there that enough fans in Finland that whole Hartwall arena would be sold out in a day? I come from Finland and I'm coming with atleast with one of my friends. I have waited that consert for three years and now they are coming, i can't believe it!

I don't actually know, -but I won't take any risk of not getting a ticket. Even less popular bands have been sold out really quickly sometimes. Even some Placebo (that I've never even heard) sold out two minutes before the official release of the tickets.

Tomorrow is the ticket hunting day. I'm gonna wake up at five.

I'm coming with atleast with one of my friends.
Concert with a friend may be a good idea, but I'm just going by myself, for I like these things alone so it can just be my moment, and I can sing along and enjoy the music without even noticing all the people around me.

They don't even sell tickets for the upper seats as can be seen in lippupalvelu...so there will be less tickets... I'm scared now. I wish I'll get a good place. I want a standingseat so I can be in front of the stage jumping and screaming along with the songs. You can't do that on the sittingseats.

I got my ticket too :D I had no trouble getting it. The queu wasn't very long and I was the second in the queu so I got the fourth ticket of that ticket service point. First I just stared at my ticket, trying to make me understand that I've really got it. But I don't know if I realized yet.

I could already start counting days. It's not even one season before they're finally here.

I'm dreaming of this already, wondering what I will wear and such. And I imagine meeting them in unexpectable places. It would be quite surprising to see them in a beach of a lake, swimming... or then they could stop right beside me in a street where I would be walking with my dog, and ask for advice (they should really get LOST if they ended up HERE where I live...)

I wish they'll have some kind of meet & greet or autograph gig but not just for the owners of VIP-tickets. Anyway, the most important thing is to get to see them live and that's already for sure.

We surely will :)

How early are you going to go waiting? I thought about going really early in the morning, but now that I've heard so many people say that they're going to spend two days and a night there, I wonder if I should do the same. I really want to see them well and get near the stage.

I wish I were allowed to take my digital camera, but acmeras are forbidden. I could just hide it in my bag but what if they actually check them?

There are still tickets left. I worried for nothing.

tsombi
04-01-2007, 01:06 PM
I'm not going there early, i have "sittingtickets" so i don't have to worry about my place. I wish i could take a camero too and i would film the whole thing but i'm actually glad that they're not allowed so i can concentrate on the show:D

Yeah i was so worried about the tickets i woke up at 8.30 and i had a huge hangover:D but in the end it's not a big deal.. can't wait!

Has anyone been to the venue before?

I was wondering if sittingtickets are at the back of the general admission/ standing mosh pit people?
Also is the arena huge, there are still tickets available for section 120 which is just off to the side of the stage, like row 16 or row 18, would they still be fairly close, I know it wouldn't be like general admission people right up at the stage but is the arena huge and therefore would sitting there be like miles back type of thing?

Cheers

tsombi
04-02-2007, 03:15 PM
Yeah I went today to get my tickets and the salesman showed me the places and i thought those places you were talkin about were really good, they were near the stage and i'm sure it doesn't even matter where your seats are you can see them from every where it's a reylla wide stadium i think. but maybe these are the things you should be asking from the ticketsellers? the probably have a better vision of it! : )

Thankyou for replying tsombi.

Unfortunately I tried ringing the place and contacting, but it is really hard as we are in Australia. I couldn't connect even with assistance I entered all the codes and number right it just won't work. I did however find a map that showed actual seat locations which is great and photo's of the arena :) That is awesome info the arena provides; in Australia when you go to venues you get basic maps and no help in that area, you have to have been there or know someone who has!!

Today I noticed they are selling in Row 9 which seems fantastic if you do have to have seating tickets. I'd love to be in the pit or even standing seats but I have a back problem that wouldn't last me being in there :(.

Flying to Europe for a holiday we have dreamt and tried to save for for 10 years now is a huge thing and I am happy to be in Row 9, although now I have 2 seats in Row 18 and wasted $200 if I can't resell them. We will have to wait closer and sell them a little cheaper, I doubt we'll get a refund they say none are given. I'm a little annoyed when I selected best available yesterday it was rows 16 and 18 and today it is 9, 10 and 11? Weird.

Oh well now I just have to pray I can meet them and give them the drawings I am going to do for them!!!! Trying to go somewhere they would be is our incentive to just bite the bullet and wear the expense of travelling (due to coversion rate to UK it is really dear, we lose about half our money's dollar worth) Now or never, we want a family soon so travelling that far once that happens is almost zero to none or far more difficult. Wish me luck...please ;)

Thanks matey that is so sweet.

We hope to be there for this concert then we are off to England and maybe France/Italy areas. Maybe Latvia if it's cheaper to go down that way, it's scarey planning a holiday so far away and so much to see and limits with money. We are unsure what we can afford but we are hoping we get to see lots of scenic sights. I've still got to research Finland but the weather sounds lovely at that time of year (I get so sick of heat) and it looks beautiful in some pics I've seen :)

Hope you get your dreams one day soon too.

I rang and was told ours are in the mail so we are thinking we'll have ours safe in hand in the next few weeks :) It did take a few weeks to process the order though.

Who knows duration of a concert??
Usually concerts are about 1 to 2 hours. In Brisbane they started a bit late after 8pm but went for over an hour, in Sydney they start pretty much on time and went for a bit longer. So allow a max of a few hours maybe? Atleast 3 hours all up including the supporting act and changing of the stage inbetween etc.
Has anyone heard if there is a supporting act for this show? Usually that goes for half an hour or more too. Hope that helps even though it's broard.

last question...what is the time from arena up to port by a taxi?

I'm not sure on that as we are coming from overseas. I enquired on a hotel and how to get from the airport to the hotel and I received information on Hotel AVA I think it was which is suppose to be about 1klm from Hartwell Arena, so not too far. The lady said this: "Also if you take the bus 615 from the Airport, you get close to the hotel as the bus stops on the way to the centre"
Maybe you can look into this bus it seems to go to quite a few stops and I read her statement as meaning this bus was going to the centre but we could use it to stop off to go to the hotel first. So we are pretty much keeping 615 in our mind as our means of transport, and walking if we have to for some of it.
Hope that helps if you can't get details on a taxi.

I was a bit late on getting the tickets, since I wasn't sure if I could be there. I'm glad the concert wasn't sold out in an instant. But it's cool to be able to go and see the band. They seem to be amazing live :)

last question...what is the time from arena up to port by a taxi?

If by port you mean the place where the ferries leave to Tallinn (you say you're from Estonia ;)), on a "normal" day without bad traffic it should take something like 20 minutes by taxi maybe. The route planner at eniro.fi actually says 7 minutes from the Areena to the west terminal, but I guess that thing doesn't take traffic into account at all. And after the concert there will be a lot of people trying to move out of the Areena area, so you may have to wait some time for your taxi etc. I'd say reserve enough time so you won't miss your ferry/boat/ship/whatever it is that floats on water ;)

Here's the web page of the west terminal of Helsinki, hope this helps: http://www.portofhelsinki.fi/default.asp?docId=12745

My friend who lives in Helsinki said that the concert usually end before midnight.

It depends when the opening-act starts. At the NIN concert they started playing around 9 and the sett was 1½ hour.

For the Finnish people here, there is a short interview with Amy in today's Ilta-Sanomat. It's mostly about how she wants to have kids soon (after couple years or something) and then they won't tour this much anymore.
She also hopes that she has time to explore Helsinki a bit.

Two things I'd like to say, Amy's singing was very good at this show, even when she rocked out. Really good. And the new guys fit in the band perfectly, I especially liked Will's drumming a lot. He was just crazy on the drums :D

I'll write something more after I get some sleep... I also got a crappy 30 second video from My Immortal with my digital camera before a security girl told me to stop filming :p But they do have their orders, so no hard feelings ;)

I really liked the concert, but there were a couple of things that bothered me:

1. There could have been more people there
2. People with seating tickets could have rocked out a bit more, generally people were just sitting down calmly and quietly. That was a rock concert, dammit :p. I had seating tickets too and there were maybe 5 or 6 people (including myself ;)) near me who rocked out at all. But maybe it's just us Finns, all calm and quiet and stuff...

So maybe these things bothered Terry too, or maybe he just didn't like his own performance for some reason. I wouldn't worry that much about it... The people who were lucky enough to meet Amy have told that she seemed to be happy about the show :)

Edit: And didn't Amy say something about technical difficulties too?

I wasn't sitting quietly.. ;) The man who sat behind me can prove it, I don't think he could see the band behind me:D lol

Thanks tsombi for posting the setlist. I was so much in the moment that I couldn't remember the order of the songs afterwards ;)

We went to our seats pretty early and Tim, Will and Beth (if I recognized her correctly) were hanging out near the mixing desk before the show, I think Tim turned up the bass on the speakers at one point :D

Whisper was my favorite in this show. I hope Ev continues touring later, even if Amy wants to take some time off now. I'd go and see them again in a heartbeat

vpv I saw Tim and Will too at the desk! i though that if i didn't have a seat and i would be on the ice too i would have went there like a rocket and ask them to give me their autographs! But i think nobody even noticed them.. i didn't see Beth though..

I also thought that Whisper was the best, it was so cool, i loved the intro and the outro and the whole song was so good!

I'd go to their concert again anytime!i hope they come back again.. Well Amy said at the end of the show "see you next year!" so who knows.. and i don't mind travelling to see them again, if they come to sweden or somewhere "near".

I guess everybody noticed some "official" pictures had been taken, any ideas where those might appear ?

P.S. Whispers was just superb, guitar theme + stroposcope flashes followed by Amy's dark-epic vocal...it was really worthy traveling to Finland all alone

Someone had asked the organizers before the show about pictures and they said that "normal fan pics" would be ok. So I took my camera with me. But I saw from the beginning that the staff didn't let people take any photos, so I hid my camera and just enjoyed the show.

My Immortal just seemed like a good time to try and I managed to get that much video before they noticed, then I put the camera away when they pointed their flashlights at me, I didn't want to get kicked out or anything :D

Katya

Dumbest. Comparison. Ever. Tarja is a trained opera singer. Amy is a belter. The one thing they have in common is that they're both powerful singers; other than that, they sound nothing alike lol.

Did any of you get to meet the band afterwards?

I'd take it as a compliment, Nightwish is pretty much the band in Finland again now that they have the new single and an album coming out. But yeah, they don't really have that much in common.

Some people met the band, but not me :( I had to leave pretty much right after the show.

Thank you, Evanescence!

That was the best night of my life! The band was awesome and Amy sang so beautifully. I was in the front row and that was amazing:D Richie was also there with other security guys and he said "Hello, ladies!" to us.

You did? aargh i'm so sad that i didn't stay after the show and wait for them! i was almost certain that they wouldn't come, and my friends wanted to leave so there was nothing i could have done..

I'm a bit sad too that I didn't get to meet them, but my friend also wanted to leave. And we didn't see any tour busses so we had no idea anyway where to go and wait for them.

But I got Tim's pick! And now I want to make an official apology to that guy who was standing next to me (just in case that he's reading this). So, here's the story: Tim threw his pick right in front of us on the floor, so security guy went to pick it up. Me and that guy were both reaching for it, so I grabbed his hand and pushed it away while I was reaching the pick with my other hand. And because my hand was the closest one, security guy gave that pick to me. I didn't mean to be rude, but I just wanted that pick more than anything.:) And besides, you were cute and kind enough not to fight me back so no hard feelings, okay?;)

And one more thing...I'm pretty sure Amy said something in finnish at the end, so did anyone hear what she said?

IF they ever come back i'm gonna drag all my friends there to see them and make them realise how good Evanescence is! and i'm also gonna wait as long as it takes to get their autographs and i also wanna thank them:)

First of all, the concert itself was simply amazing, although there were some minor problems with the sound system in the beginning. I only got one picture, but here is the story I promised to post. I hope you enjoy it!

The black and white curtain was raised and the drums, base and guitars blasted out, when Terry, Tim, Will and Troy kicked the show off with the “Lose control” intro. Just moments later the whole crowd went wild, screaming and jumping when Amy stepped up to the stage singing “Weight of the world”. Amy was unbelievably beautiful in her black and snow white outfit. The atmosphere started to rise and you could specially feel it during the “old” songs from Fallen. Amy was her lively self on the stage and rocked out from the bottom of her heart. Will and Troy were both extremely talented and energetic as expected. Not to forget Terry and Tim who were also rocking and head banging the hell out of Hartwall Arena.

The time seemed to fly and suddenly most of the crowd thought that the show was over after “Lacrymosa”. At least some of us knew that Amy would return to stage shortly and certainly she did. They played the wonderful “My immortal” and the crowd was naturally singing along as Amy suggested. “Your star” was a very powerful live song and the whole show got a worthy ending. The crowd was happy and pleased. We clapped and screamed our thanks to the whole band.

I had already decided before the show that afterwards I would do my best to find the tour buses. I circled around the arena and finally managed to find a ramp that lead to the parking hall beneath the arena. There were already some fans waiting there behind a low metal fence and a security guard was also standing in front of the parking hall exit. I counted three black “Beat The Street” tour buses and two trailer lorries. We waited patiently and suddenly I recognized Josh, who was standing inside the first bus and grabbed something that seemed to be beer bottles from the bus storage compartment and walked back inside the arena. One of the trailer lorries started its engine and moved in front of our line of sight. Under the big trailer lorry we barely observed that Amy came out from the arena wearing a black skirt and black Converse shoes and ran inside the first bus together with Josh.

Luckily the trailer lorry moved away and our waiting was finally rewarded! Amy came out of the bus and was jumping and walking towards us in a funny way together with Josh, Tim and Richie who walked close by. The friendly and warmhearted Amy said kindly hello to us all and we greeted them. Incredible but true, I thought, and pinched myself just to be sure before Amy personally started to write autographs with Tim. I barely got my mouth open when Amy came next to me. If I remember correctly, I first thanked for the amazing show and managed to ask how they liked Finland. I also pointed out that I was the only male fan waiting there and that I was shivering a bit just because it was a rainy and cold night. Tim noticed my shivering and said something I sadly can’t remember in his intriguingly quintessential way. I smiled and laughed.

Josh was also friendly and seemed to be a sweet and a caring husband. Josh was handing out Mars mini chocolate bars to us saying: ”Who wants chocolate?” – ”I know you guys want it”, while Amy and Tim continued to write autographs. I asked Tim where Terry was and he replied that “He is drunk” and everybody laughed. Amy asked us about the warming up act and wanted to know more about the artist, Hanna Pakarinen, a Finnish Idols-winner and the Eurovision 2007 song contestant. Amy asked us how do you say “Thank you” in Finnish, while Tim insisted us to teach him to spell the name “Hanna Pakarinen”. "Hana Pakhari?", "No, it's han-na pa-kari-nen". "Hana Pakharinen?", said Tim satisfied and smirked.

Finally everyone willing got the chance to have a picture taken together with Amy by Richie. I stood against the low fence and Amy put her hand around my shoulders. Richie had some problems with the digital camera so Amy had to keep on holding her arm around me a bit longer to the point that Josh commented to me something like “Remember, that she is my wife” and everyone, including Amy, smiled and laughed. When the pictures were taken Amy said a few words and thanked us for waiting them and hoped to see us again soon. We gratefully thanked Amy, Tim, Josh and Richie and hoped that we would meet again soon and we promised to wait.

I was utterly amazed about the whole experience and it felt like I was on “Cloud nine”. It was simply one of the best experiences in my entire life. Priceless.

Thank you Amy, Tim, Josh and Richie. Thank you Evanescence!

Well I too agree with you all that it was an awesome concert. Amy spoke a lot more than I remember on the 3 othr ocassions we've seen them. The guys were rocking, Tim was going for it, it all looked awesome. My partner saw the drummer drop his stick as he had been twirling it and it was funny when Tim threw it bsck.
We used our allowed stopover on our UK/European holiday we are now on to see them in Pasila at Hartwell and we don't regret any of it. We had planned to try to get to say hi afterwards but we ended up not being able to stay so I was bummed about that. We had seen where to go earlier when we checked the route their from our hotel but I truly felt I was rude and am not good at being one of those fans that go weird or expect their attention, it was their down time. I appreciate how they felt getting there in their travels too first hand so thought they'd be tired afterwards, wewalked past and were going to wait but couldn't. Sound like they were very gracious, glad you guys had some dreams coming true as you've said.
I hope Amy heard me reply "NEVER" to her when she said she hoped we weren't getting sick of listening to her, after she had commented about whether she belonged on stage, I felt like I was the only one saying stuff in the seats. For us it was great seeing them as they were the first english speakers we'd encountered and were feeling a little far away from our usual lives at the early stages after a 2 hour flight from Brisbane to Sydney, then an 8 hour to Bangkok, 10 and a half hours sleeping at Bangkok waiting for our 10 hour Helsinki flight!!!!

And it was all worth it to get a unique chance and experience to start our holiday.
It's great reading others experiences and thoughts, I am unable to get much time on net so didn't get to read much aboutit.

Amy Lee finally brought Evanescence to Finland

It was a rare moment for Evanescence fans when the American band finally came to Finland. Their breakthrough album "Fallen" and super hit "Bring Me To Life" took the band to the top of the charts around the world. After that Evanescence has released one studio album, "The Open Door", and a live package "Anywhere But Home". They've had a lot of setbacks during this time.

The founding members Amy Lee and Ben Moody went their separate ways in 2003 when Moody left the band in the middle of the European tour. Since then all the other members have left for different reasons. Drummer Rocky Gray and guitarist John LeCompt left in a lousy atmosphere only a bit over a month ago. Many were in doubt whether Evanescence will go on tour ever again - or do anything.

Yet Amy Lee found stand-ins for the tour and showed at Hartwall Areena where Evanescence's good touring reputation comes from. Lee herself was in a good mood and talked a lot to the audience in the beginning of the show. After that there was less talking, but Lee's energetic dancing and jumping around the stage convinced that she and the band haven't yet faded out.

Evanescence's performance was a concert with a capital C. The grand show topped off towards the end and Lee won over people even beyond the loud first rows. Especially the hits "Call Me When You’re Sober" and "Bring Me To Life" were terrific. In the middle of the show a piano was brought on stage for the classically trained pianist Lee's more ethereal performances. The pair Lee and the piano especially shined during the encore. The great songs "My Immortal" and "Your Star" deservedly got a long applause from the audience.

The gig lasted a bit over an hour and surely left the audience hungry. The future lies open for Amy Lee. For the end of the summer and fall the band will join the Family Values Tour but Lee has talked about taking a break for a couple of years after that. Maybe even Lee herself doesn't know what happens then. The gig certainly raised the expectations.

If I remember correctly, I first thanked for the amazing show and managed to ask how they liked Finland.

Amy asked us about the warming up act and wanted to know more about the artist, Hanna Pakarinen, a Finnish Idols-winner and the Eurovision 2007 song contestant.

So, what did they say about Finland? And do you happen to know did Amy and Hanna met each other? What did you tell them about Hanna?:)

Oh, I have so many questions! I just want to know everything that happened there that night after the concert:D

Again, if I remember correctly, they said that they like it here and someone replied something about the clear sky and the sun that doesn't seem to go down. I am not sure if Hanna and Amy met but I would guess they did not. Amy didn't ask much about her but we told that Hanna Pakarinen is the real name of the artist and that is how "the spelling bee" got started. ;)

Awwh... I would do almost anything to get a chance like this.. I am happy for you! :)

By the way... Does anyone remember what music was played during the break between Hanna and Evanescence (or was it even before Hanna, I'm not sure)? All I can remember is that I heard Closer by Nine Inch Nails but that's it... I must have been soooo excited 'cause usually I remember these kind of things! :D

It is the same stadium. And no, it wasn't full. The highest seats weren't even in use but still there were some empty seats in the "not-so-good" sections. The best seats were all taken, though. It's hard to say how much people there were and how much could have been in the standing area but I think that wasn't sold out either.

Ev's concert was in the beginning of the Midsummer week which is usually general celebration time in Finland and a lot of people get out of the big cities. As wikipedia puts it: "At present, the midsummer holiday is known as juhannus (or midsommar, for the Swedish-speaking minority), and is the year's most notable occasion for drunkenness and revelry." :D

There were also a lot of music festivals either right before or right after Ev's concert date, I think a lot of rock fans were there and not watching Ev...

Anyway, Ev was awesome there and they definitely made my summer :)

Well, actually, while we were waiting outside I heard one guy talking to someone and saying that his friends wanted to come there too but couldn't get the tickets anymore 'cause it was sold out. But I don't know for sure... Maybe I just got the wrong impression 'cause I heard that by accident, I wasn't trying to listen or anything:)

There were two ladies that came to me and my friends seats and they looked really pissed and they said that we were sitting on their seats.. then we checked that we had the right seats and guess what.? they had also the same tickets!

i was almost afraid because the security came to clear it out and they almoust believed that some one had made the tickets or bought like these fake tickets:D but nothing happened luckily.. those ladies got other seats and they seemed quite ok with it.. and hey they came like 5 minutes before the show started and we had been there like two hours so we weren't going to move:)

but it would be nice to know how much people were there.. like 2 thousand or 3 or 4? i have no idea..

For the Finnish people here, an article in Helsingin Sanomat website:
http://www.hs.fi/viihde/artikkeli/Evanescencen+laulaja+kehuu+uutta+kokoonpanoa/1135228679069

I'll translate it if I have time, but the main point is that things are great in the band and they're having fun together, so Family Values is going to be great.

Bump. I was wondering if there already is a thread for us Finnish fans?

There was a thread on EvBoard called "Finnish talky thread":

http://www.evboard.com/finnish-talky-thread-13695.html

Should we maybe set up a similar thread here also?

There's one active board you should visit:

It seems to be pretty quiet in here... Maybe we should really have a thread for Finnish fans as now this thread seems to be like one.

Where is everyone?? :D

It sure does and I agree. Many of the active Finnish fans I know are mostly on IRC-Galleria, but I guess there are many non-registered users who visit EvThreads frequently.

Should we set up the new thread in the Chatterbox section? In my opinion we should name the thread "Finnish talky thread" just like the one on EvBoard.

Oh, I didn't know that. As a comparison The Finnish Topic on the official WT forum, where all the conversation is in Finnish. Maybe EvThreads should have more Finnish mods...
