Thats is absolutely horrible. I don't get how people can do that. But then again, its the internet. How do you know what to trust and what not to. I feel bad for the die hards who think they are buying something fantastic...and maybe will never know its not real!

i know me 2. i can pretty much tell all the bands autographs to see if theyre real (i have enough of my own lol) so i would never buy one. but to someone who never had one to get a fake is messed up. only buy an autograph if they have pictures of them signing it otherwise i would never.

even then I still wouldn't. How do you know they didn't just steal a pic offline of the band signing something and then put a fake up. People can be so sketchy! I also have enough autographs of my own so wouldn't buy them. its sad! if you fake ebayers are reading, you're mean ha ha ha

Well, I once bought something online (From eBay UK) and about two months later we had been scammed: Someone purchased international flight tickets on our account. Its not great to lose the equivalent of over $8000 (we use another currency) over Christmas Time, lol.

Yeah, if you want an autograph try and get it at a concert..even with a C.O.A. there is never any guarantee that the autograph is authentic. People can buy a C.O.A. for the right price which is why they cant be trusted.
I know, I really don't trust much that I see on Ebay. The one time someone had a signed Beatles album. However, if you looked in his recent items that he purchased (via his feedback), you could see he bought the same album NOT signed. It was the same one because the corner was creased in the same place on the album cover. People just suck.

People on ebay are ridiculas, another thing never to buy is concert tickets, my friend bought some on there a few months back, and they werent even real tickets when they got there!!!
Also, some bright spark keeps putting up "REAL CD ORIGINAL ORIGIN REAL MUST HAVE FOR ANY FAN" and its not at all the original, its the re-made origin. Ebay can suck so much sometimes, I remember the case of the tesco bag (just a regular plastic carrier bag) that sold for £4.50, and the square of USED spongebob square pants kitchen roll that went for about the same price, absolutely pathetic.

i am personally a huge fan of ebay! yes guilty as charged.
i would not buy autographs - most are fake
i would not buy concert tickets - they are all scalpers trying to rip you off
i find with ebay you have to be real careful - and read fine print and feedback,,, sometimes u can score real good deals, but if u dont do ur research, its really easy to get scammed. i myself had someone hack my ebay and try to sell 2 motorcycles on it as me...luckily ebay monitors that stuff , ip addresses and all, and took it down and put a watch on my account, its been smooth sailing and lots of deals since then!

i am guilty of ebaying as well. i mean i would never buy an autograph but i do buy loads off there. actually that is where i got my ev concert tix for toronto. ya i overpaid but i dont care.....2 tickets came to like almost $200. (ya i paid ALOT more than i should have) but it was sooooo worth it.

I wouldn't want to buy an autograph. Getting one is part of the fun of acutally meeting that person. If that made sense. hahah. I'd rather meet Amy and ask for a siggy then buy one that's fake! bad eBayers. hahahha
but I have found good deals too. hahahha.. so it's not ALL bad...

You can never trust anything on ebay, and that's the end of the story really. I personally would never bid on anything over £50 because you just cannot be sure your going to get the item or it's going to be real. I've paid for an item before and never received it. I was heartbroken. I wouldn't ever sell by Amy autographs on e-bay. If I was going to get rid of my autographs I would give them to someone for nothing. Autographs are only really valuable when you receive them from the famous artist yourself. I've just put some concert tickets on e-bay for sale, though I can understand if nobody bids what with all these scams some members have under there sleeve. It's a challenge to try and get bidders to realise that your item really is real.

you said what I was gonna say. Why would you want to buy someone's autograph in the first place? I have autographs from a few people (Ev band members included), but to me they're memento's of the time I met the person....not just something I bought off Ebay because I wanted to have one.

I love Ebay, there's lots of good deals, especially off the new Ebay Express (all brand new stuff you just buy, no bidding), but you do have to be REALLY careful. And I agree with everyone else on here, autographs are only as valuable as the memory attached to them. Well, until the person passes away or something, but that sort of thing should never be bought without seeing it in person first, definitely not an Ebay buy.

This shows that people would do anything for money...and yet people decide to buy into it anyway
But I'd rather go to a show and try and get an autograph myself, that way, I know it's the real deal, and it's just that much more special!

i use ebay a lot. you just have to be really careful. i've got tickets on there for several gigs and they've all been legit. but that was because i was very careful. and if you do get tickets that are real you can take action against that user. you can get some of your money back and that user gets banned.
autographs are just pointless in my opinion unless you were there when it was signed. the artist signs it FOR YOU not for joe blogs. i just dont get why you'd want a 2nd hand autograph which is probably signed by the seller!
i think some people are just asking to be conned! ok maybe thats harsh, but theres a safe way to shop online. i saw this one woman on the news who sold her laptop on ebay. she sent it before she had recieved payment. anyone knows that you wait til you've got the money before you send the item. if you're buying an item and it doesnt arrive, theres a system to making complaints, you dont just ignore it.

Like others have said, what's the point of an autograph at all if you didnt get it yourself. I'd rather actually meet the person and then have them sign something. It has no value if I just bought it off of someone.
Aerdna

I bet the only reason some people buy these fake autographs is because they want to make money off it themselves. They buy it just so they can sell it for even more. But yeah, then there are those who actually take those autographs for the real thing...

to ger autograpf in reall I think be more cheaper than buy it (and you don't know what you'll get for that price) why? couse you could meet the person somwhere in the street or get to the concert and get it after the show I think this way is better couse you have a great feelings from concert and will have a autograph...:) anyway, it's so silly to sell autoghaphs....people are not stupid...

haha has anyone seen the amy lee expose interview... i dont know where it's for. anyway it shows her doing all these interviews before she goes to film much on demand and just as she's leaving the hotel theres a few "fans" waiting outside. so amy signs some autographs but she senses something fishy and says to the guys "this is that ebay **** isn't it?" haha the guy was collecting autographs to sell on eBay and amy does not approve! but there is one real fan waiting and amy acknowledges him, really sweet.

For those that are afraid to buy anything off of eBay - personally, if I'm going to be spending a lot of money at once, I won't buy if they don't offer shipping insurance. If they do and you accept it, and for whatever reason you never receive the item you bought, then you get your money back, hands down. If you don't buy insurance or if you buy from a seller who doesn't offer it and this happens, then I'd say it's on you.
As far as autographs go, as many people have said, most of them are fake. The best thing you can do to help is to just report users to eBay when you know for a fact that they're fakes. They'll be taken care of, especially since selling supposedly-real autographs is a major crime.

Haha, I think Amy got suspicious when I tried getting her to sign my unopened copy of TOD. She talked me into taking the wrapper off. I wasn't planning on selling it, of course, I even told her I was going to buy an extra copy to listen to and keep that one as a keepsake. Hehe.

very good point! shipping insurance is a must if your item is expensive or breakable!

i bought an autographed photograph of angelina jolie off ebay a few years ago...and later found out it was fake. very sad

This isn't a fake autograph, but it's highly amusing, and I didn't know where else to post it.

I saw several "autographs" on ebay this week. And no two were the same.
JK Rowling was sueing Ebay or at least thinking of it about some fake autographs in her name and Ebay refused to do anything about it. A lot of those had "certificates of authenticity" too.

i was just looking at random things on ebay and i found a bunch of autographed stuff. this one in particular made me laugh. i feel bad for the person who placed a bid on it!
they have an open door promo pic and a pic of amy signing it for proof. so when i checked it out, the pic of amy signing has ben sitting beside her. like, ben left over 3 years ago. so this person obviously isn't a fan and the autograph is obviously fake. that person who placed a bid on the pic must not know much about ev!

Wouldn't you be able to sue them if you can prove they are fake because you get a certificate of authenticity and it states that the pictures are 100% :S weird that's all. and wouldnt all signatures not be the same because they could be in a rush and just scribble one day and try harder on another one. i know everytime i sign for something, my signature is all over the place lol

I don't understand the appeal of buying something autographed anyways. . .the entire point of an autograph is to BE there when they sign it. Otherwise, you might as well have a fake bc outside of the experience its just a name on a piece of paper. When it comes time to tell the story of your autographed piece, its not cool to be like "oh, I bought that online" lol. . .just my opinion!

Totally agree! MUCH more meaningful when you get them in person... why waste money on something like that... especially if there's no guarantee it's real..
Although, I do admit that the other two autographs I own (One by my favorite actor, Gerard Butler, and one from one of my fave authors, William Nicholson) were not obtained in person... But I didn't get them online either ;)

there's still no guarantee it's real. and anyway, it can't be personal unless you're there really. it's just not right. if you want an autograph it's easy enough to get one yourself by going to a gig or anyevent the band are at. they happily sign for fans.

Maybe if she's in a ****ty mood she doesn't draw a heart. :uhoh:
Pretty much all the legit ones I've seen have at least the long letters. Maybe an older sig of hers would be a little different. But I'm saying I would use the long letters and quite possibly heart as a bare minimum comparison.
Everyone knows nobody wants to part w/an Amy Lee sig though so I'd never want to buy one, even if I didn't have two already. I don't like the uncertainty.

(= My thoughts exactly. I have real autographs from them, and I would never sell them. The mean a lot to me because they were signed just for me, not for someone else. What's the point in having autographs from someone if you've never met them and it wasn't intended for you? It's not the same.

Who's that other sig belong to? I didn't know they were allowed to share the same space. I'd be like, "umm, sign the next page, pls." jk.

My Amy Lee autograph doesn't have a heart. But Ritchie was hurrying her and Terry up, and it was just on the back of my paper ticket so I think she tends to put hearts more on framed or CD type things. Just a guess.

Nah... I think it depends if she's in a rush or not. I usually see the heart on alot of autographs it just depends on the situation. I have a couple of 'sloppy' autographs and they still have the heart on it.

A while back I was actually gonna get one. But then I realised ones that I'd lost on just kept on going back up for bidding. It was then I realised they were fake.

Uploaded this to myspace a while ago... you can see Amy's autograph.
One that I've found that seems to change a lot is John's. i got his autograph in sydney (so obviously I know it's real) but when I see some other peoples signed stuff, it's different. Although I must admit he was a little tipsy after the sydney show :p
Anyway, selling fake autographs on ebay to hopeful fans is really, REALLY low.

Yeah I was just gonna say that. Everybodys else's autograph is pretty much still the same but John's seems to be changing quite a bit. Rocky's old autograph from like Fallen time use to be a fancy R but now he signs bigger and sometimes draws a skull (if ure lucky). I only have a few more things to get signed after that I will be pretty much done with autographs from them.

if you go to an evanescense concert how is the best way to get an autograph, do you have to leave the concert early and wait around the back entrance, how do you do it.

Dam. Ebay sucks sometimes. I see lots of Amy Lee autographs. They seem so fake. I search for Shirley Manson. On ebay. She's the lead singer of Garbage. And they look real. But I think they are fake. I have a real autograph from her. Including other things she wrote to me. I don't know when I looked at the one on ebay it just "feels" so fake.

Most of the auctions tell you if it's a print of the signature. Authentic ones often state in big letters stating it's authentic. If they do that and send you a fake one you can simply report it to ebay and usually get a full refund including shipping. This however can be very time consuming and problematic. May be weeks before you get a refund. The one biggest piece of advice I can give as an experienced ebay user is to fully read an auction before you bid. Sellers can put confusing or misleading words in to technically tell the truth but mean something else. For example "like new <insert product here>"

well there is no way to really prove that an autograph is real. just coz its not a print doesn't mean its actually that of the artist. i could sign a photo with amy's name, making sure it looked real and sell it on ebay. but theres no way to prove that it wasn't amy that signed it so you couldn't really get your money back. the only way to know for sure is to be there when its signed! even photos of amy signing doesn't help. i saw an auction for a signed guitar that they said they got in something like 2005 but the photo was from 2003/4 coz ben was in the pic!

I have an autographed picture of Amy that I got for a gift...it came with a certificate that said it was signed for someone or for an official from somewhere...but it looks just like Amy's signature and you can kind of tell by the sharpie marks that it's real. At least I hope so :[

That's forgery and is punishable by law, but I agree it does happen all too often

I'm pretty sure my autograph is fake...I did some handwriting analysis (gotta love Forensics class at school) and it's pretty different. I'll post a picture on here later.

It was in the vicinity of $300. I feel really cheated now. But the guiter still hangs on the wall, it's just known as "the fake Amy Lee guitar" now.
I'm contemplating selling it on Ebay as a fake Amy Lee autograph and see how many people buy it simply for the guitar.

Here's another sample of Amy's autograph. I got this at the Las Cruces concert. And yeah it's signed twice.
