I'm not too sure if I'm allowed to post this, so please let me know and forgive me if I'm in the wrong forum.

Evanescence is coming to South Africa, and I've got Golden Circle tickets. I was just wondering if anyone knew a way I could meet the band or just see them up close, without seeming like a stalker, lol. I'd especially like to meet Amy. Any tips?

Thanks!

I agree. At the Boston show on 10/07, we waited after the show and it certainly paid off! I got to meet all the band members (except for Rocky :( ) But yeah, as long as your patient, it should work out fine.

Though I HAVE been wondering myself if it's even possible to meet them at a huge arena show... I mean, with all those people, you know?

I would say exactly what Chris said at big venues wait near the tour bus. :) You just have to be prepared to wait a long time if you want to meet them.

Im going to the show in Reading PA do you guys think if i wait after the show they will come out cause this is a big arena i met them before after the show but it was at a venue please can someone tell me.

i dont think anyone can predict if they will come out or not. chances are slimmer at bigger places just go and see what happens.

Thanks for the replies guys! I don't think the venue is that big, so maybe I stand a chance... It would be awesome if I DO get to meet them. I'll wait up all day and night if that helps, lol.

We met them by going up to the fence that was were they walked past into the venue. Tim and Terry were both happy to come over and talk, sign stuff ect. ;)

Yeah and Amy came out after the show.

Wait around afterwards would be my advice. That's how I met them.
If the venue isn't too big, then you have a better chance of them coming out since it's not as many people.

LovelyPoison
02-09-2007, 01:29 PM
I doubt I'd get to meet them, as much as I'd like to. The venue I'm seeing them at holds something like 20,000 people. :( Probably not a chance there. I really want to join EvClub, but I don't know if they're having a Meet & Greet in Nashville anyhow.

-Kristen
02-09-2007, 01:43 PM
Yeah, at a venue like that a public meet and greet would most likely not happen.
Your best bet would be trying to get one through EvClub, or waiting around awhile after the show.

dreamchaser_83
02-09-2007, 02:02 PM
yeah it is harder to meet them at a bigger venue. if there aren't loads of people waiting then the chances are better. just be patient, as everyone has said, and don't listen to security. they tend to say "the band isnt coming out" or "the band has left already". they usually say that to try to get people to go home so that they can. i think it also helps if there arent crazy fangirls around screaming and crying! lmao! i noticed a difference between toronto (a couple crying fangirls) and ottawa (a calm group). after a show it can take a long time for them to come out. in winnipeg they stayed at the venue til 2am. so if you're willing to stick around, you should be able to meet them.

fyi, there is no talk of yet on evclub about meet and greets.

I'm wishing I had been more assertive and told peple to get out of the ****ing way once they'd had their turn so I could get my album cover signed. *sigh*

But yeah it was cool. She walked past with Josh ans saw us and was like 'hey guys'. At first it looked like she was just gonna leave but when they reached their car she told him to wait a minute and came back with a pen and signed some stuff and had a chat for about 10 - 15 mins. I think this one chick who started out with the 'you changed my life, I live for you, I got kicked out of home for you etc..' may have ultimately scared her away.

I'm hoping I'll get a shot at an autograph from her (and a permanent one from the rest of the guys) in Sydney. I actually went and bought another copy of TOD in a jewel case just so I could get the booklet signed and then framed and I don't like wasting money.

where can you get a jewel case at.TOD is available in the jewel case now at most record stores, I noticed. Actually (around my area anyway) I'm finding copies harder to find in the original cases, and there are more being sold in jewel cases.

Like everyone else has suggested, wait at the end out the back entrance.

When they came to Melbourne on the 10th, My friends Bec Jake and I checked out the layout of the area when the arrived there and found a back gate. At the end of the show we stood there, and then a few others came over, not many in the end a total of 10 including all us. We waiting about a whole hour and John, Rocky and Tim came out but ignored us and went in a car and drove away, but then Amy and Terry came out and came over to us. It was awesome She signed everyone's stuff, she and terry signed signed my ticket and my poster (which is now laminated and pinned on my wall) and then Bec got her arm signed so I put my hand through a whole in the gate and Amy signed it as well :p - it's still there right now, but faded a fair bit :(

She was really funny, posing silly for photos and talking about the Australian why of things, like it's weird calling 'the woods the bush"

ive been lucky and met the band several times at shows and other events but its always 50/50 depends on the venue and how they feel. just dont go there expecting to meet them cuz sometimes it takes a few tries to meet them. going to a show doesnt guarantee meeting an artist. that goes for any musician i guess. keep in mind its ALWAYS easier at the smaller venues.

If the stage door is at all accessible then there's every chance you'll get to meet the band when they arrive and come out even if it is behind a fence. I managed to three times all at large venues where I though it'd be impossible.

I also managed to randomly run into Terry and Josh just standing round outside the venue but that was just dumb luck.

the guys usually like to get out and walk around depending on where it is. i dont know if terry smokes anymore but he use to go out all the time for a smoke. just a heads up ;) and yeah if the stage door area IS accesable then youll see them if its crappy and underground then it will be harder :(

Do you really think life is going to be more complete and meaningful after a thirty second chat with Amy? What do you expect to gain from it at all? You people need to start thinking seriously. Get real dreams like curing cancer or becoming a MTV presenter.

How kind of you.

Do you realize how much of an impact bands can have on people's lives? I'd say that getting to meet any Evanescence member in person would make my life more complete and meaningful...good conversation starter, and the chance to say "I met my idol in person." Everyone should at least be given the chance to say so.

And how on Earth do you relate MTV presenters to cancer or making life more meaningful??

The Elmeister
03-11-2007, 07:26 PM
What, you don't think curing cancer, one of the biggest killers on the planet and a disease we are still rather powerless against, would make your life more meaningful??

Also, the impact Ev has had on my life is absolutely ridiculous. They've completely changed my life in so many ways, and pt me on th path to a better future so don't lecture me about that. But there is still more to life than Ev and a LOT more to life than Amy Lee. I waited utside a gate for a long time to meet her yes, but I just wanted an autograph. I had no illusions that I'd be happier/more complete because of it.

Edit edit: If you were an MTV presenter you'd get to meet lots of bands.

Yes, of course it would - I just don't think that curing cancer should be put in the same category as being an MTV presenter for making life more meaningful.

I never said Ev put me on a "path to a better future," or changed my life in any manner, nor would I lecture you about these things as they are not true. Yes, they have impacted my life - their music inspires me and helps to get me through the day, but that doesn't mean my life would be any less purposeful without them. I never said that, nor will I ever. If a band is what saves someone's life, they need serious professional help. A band can still have an impact on me without it being that dramatic, so please stop assuming that is the case - for me or the person you responded to.

The person you originally posted in response to never said meeting the band would make their life happier or more meaningful, they simply said that it was their dream to do so.

People should be allowed to dream - and they can have more than one dream.

Ok for starters I was just throwing out random things people dream of doing. I wasn't trying to compare curing cancer to being an MTV presenter.

Secondly, when people say 'my dream is to meet Amy Lee' thats a pretty big statemeant and I stand by my grounds its a pretty weak dream. There is so much more to life than Evanescence, there are bigger stars to reach for than Amy Lee.

Thirdly, I said Evanescence put me on a path to a better future. For the record I didn't say they saved me and I don't need professional health thank you very much. Whatever you imagine the music did to change my life I asure you you're dead set wrong.

You did say that meeting Evanescence would make your life more meaningful

I'd say that getting to meet any Evanescence member in person would make my life more complete and meaningful

see.

Finally, **** I can't remmeber what I was about to say. But I continue to urge you all to dream bigger.

Lumynescence
03-13-2007, 08:26 PM
It won't make your life more meaningful, but it would certainly be nice. I love her music, Amy Lee is awesome, and I would like to meet her. But what sucks is if I go my parents might have to come with me, and they wouldn't like to wait around.

Ok for starters I was just throwing out random things people dream of doing. I wasn't trying to compare curing cancer to being an MTV presenter.

Next time clarify that because that was the impression I got.

Secondly, when people say 'my dream is to meet Amy Lee' thats a pretty big statemeant and I stand by my grounds its a pretty weak dream. There is so much more to life than Evanescence, there are bigger stars to reach for than Amy Lee.

That's a matter of personal opinion. I'm merely saying that if somebody states that as their dream, you shouldn't shoot it down simply because you think there are better dreams out there. It's a matter of opinion.

Thirdly, I said Evanescence put me on a path to a better future. For the record I didn't say they saved me and I don't need professional health thank you very much. Whatever you imagine the music did to change my life I asure you you're dead set wrong.

Matter of misinterpretation...I misread your post and thought you were trying to tell me the idea of that happening was ridiculous, I was simply arguing the point, but since I see we were trying to make the same point, my whole post is completely redundant, and I apologize if it sounded as though I were suggesting you needed professional help - I wasn't. I wasn't referring to you at all, actually, but I understand if it didn't sound that way. I misread your post, so sorry.

You did say that meeting Evanescence would make your life more meaningful

see.

I said that after the fact, but it would. And for future reference, I am well aware of what I said. And I'm sticking by it.

So yeah sorry for offending you or whatever, seriously I thought you were trying to offend me, I had to go back and reread everything, and I realized my mistake...so yeah sorry.

Personally, I KNOW there is more to life than Amy Lee, believe me. I'm not as naive as you think I am. I was just standing up for those who are, because I don't feel it was necessary for you to attack someone's dreams because they're not as you see fit. So don't pinpoint me as thinking curing cancer wouldn't be as meaningful as meeting Evanescence...I assure you it's quite the contrary. I just don't know that I'm going to cure cancer, whereas I do know I am going to meet Evanescence, and therein lies the difference. Meeting the band that's had a huge impact on my life is more meaningful to me than wasting my life doing something I know I'm not capable of. In a sense, having a conversation with Amy Lee is a more realistic dream than curing cancer, to me. But this is all my opinion. Please don't tear me to pieces for it.

I'm trying to figure out the same thing. I'm going to the Nashville concert also. I used to be friends with a guy who worked security there sometimes (I voluntarily worked security there once with him and some friends & we got to see Weezer for free), but I wouldn't know how to get in touch with him anymore. I do have several friends in the music biz though... perhaps one of them knows. I will definitely wait around to meet the band if it's possible, but I don't know the whole layout of the area.

Maybe not. At their last show here I told Terry it wasn't unheard of for bands to do Aus twice in their tour (hint hint, nudge nudge) and he said they'd probably come back here and it was like a holiday for them. I'm not 100% sure he knew exactly what I meant and if he did, he might have just been sayng it but who knows.

Which show did you go to?

Well, some people think this is wrong, but I met Amy while waiting 2 hrs. in the freezing cold after a BIG concert so maybe just find a group of people who are waiting for the band after the show, like I did. Or possibly a meet and greet pass (expensive, but WELL WORTH IT!

Katya
04-05-2007, 08:22 PM
How is waiting afterwards for a couple of hours wrong? I mean...if you're waiting by a designated area, or by the tour buses if they let you, there's nothing wrong with that. The band usually comes out afterwards for fans, anyway.

Now, if you were to seek out the buses if they were hidden or out of the way and stalk them until someone comes out or something, THAT'S wrong. Or trying to sneak past security or something. But just waiting afterwards is okay.

Yeah don't get your hopes up. Even if you do wait forever after the show they still might not come out. I'm not saying they won't, but they didn't when they played here in upstate New York cow tippin country. And it doesn't matter how big or small the venue is, our arena only holds about 1,000 people!
I hope you have better luck than I did though! They called the cops on us for just standing quietly!

Actually she was just recounting her experience at an Evanescence concert... so therefore it DOES have to do with Evanescence. I highly doubt she was trying to put people down... she was just telling the truth and warning people not to get their hopes up too high.

Anyway... I have yet to meet the band. Hopefully I get to do so soon. That would be awesome. :D

Their price was fine...it was the additional fees and the fact that the stadium was charging $3.50 for a bottle of water that killed me. But the sound and lighting was amazing, and I was in the same room as Amy Lee, so it was worth it :]

Still... $135 for three people... is a tad ridiculous.

the venue is pretty much closed in like the hartford dodge center....BUT..there are gates on the side where the buses pull into so there is a chance you could see them over there. plus the venue is on a hill and you have to walk down to go to a store so if any of the guys feel the need to walk around theyll do that. Chances are though theyll sign through the gate but its not a face its just a huge beige or white gate. I forgot cuz I havent been there since like 1998 lol. you can also see the entire back area where the buses are its out in the open behind the gate.

i wish i had thought of waiting a while after the show. i went and saw them in hartford on 3/31/07 and i was also in one of the very back rows :( but the concert rocked...so it was still great even though i didn't get to meet them
Me too!! That was the best concert I've ever been to, even if I was in the back. But we didn't know where to wait or how to get wherever it would have been, so we just left.

I was gonna ask this thing too!I mean i just saw it. My friend and I are going to see them in Athens. I went the first time and i was so frikcin close. I must've been like 7 feet away from the stage, but i had to leave early cause i was with my uncle and aunt. this time i am going with my friend. and my dad is gonna sit in the seats while my friend and i are gonne be in the crowd. the thing is the venue they're playin at is also what soccer team my father and I are. so like if i stay there after the concert, like maybe they (ev) might go to the restaurant that's in the venue. i don't know! i soooooooo wanna meet them!

They're coming to Turkey 6 days later. I'm really excited and I want to meet them too. I have all the things I will say in mind, a half pancard and some of my poems stored in a file and maybe a present for Amy. I'll take my camera too just in case. It is my biggest dream. :)

I went to the Oklahoma City Concert in March (a huge arena), me and my friend sat in the seats to the right of the stage (where the bands came in and out) As Amy left the stage right before the encore...she walked through the door, and we really were the only people who saw her do that so we yelled at her, and she looked up at use and flashed the \m/. Haha anyways...after the concert, we walked around trying to figure out where they were coming out. We saw a fence, and looked down, and the buses were parked underground! :( However, we knew they had to come up to streelevel, so we found the ramp they used it was guarded though. So since it was spring break, and we didn't have anything to do the next morning, we stuck around. There were only about 40-45 people waiting for them to come out. So we were all just chilling. This was around 11pm, we saw Rocky, John, and Tim but they never came up for autographs. Then around 2 am, there were only about 15 people left waiting. We see Terry and after he went on the bus to get his booze, he came up with Richie and signed autographs/take pics. So we kindly asked him to convince Amy to come say hi.

So 30 mins later it was down to about 12 people waiting still. Then Amy came up, and we all got autographs, and pictures :). She talked to Sam (my friend) and I for like 3 mins, telling us that she remembered us from the concert, and when she took the pic with me, she looked up at me and said ,"Wow you're tall" as she stood on her toes. (I'm 6'7")....

That night rocked :)

Do you think that they will come out for the Family Values Tour? Or only for thier concerts? At WMMR, (8 bands) there was only 5 of us Ev fans but only Tim came out. But it was in Camden so...

I had to go to five shows (over 3 months) before I was able to meet Amy. At every show I held up a sign that said "Amy please sign my tattoo of you!" Richie saw me at every show, but it wasn't until the last show that allowed me backstage to meet her :) It was well worth all the miles put on my car and the money spent on tickets and gas! I think persistance is the key.
