Well, you're traveling from the middle of (kind of) NY to the bottom of RI, and that's quite a trek! You're better off going to the Hartford, CT one, to be honest, lol.

Well thanks to Wind Up (I assume they're responsible for dates) and my crappy religion I am unable to get to any of the shows.
HOWEVER.
My dad is going to try and get me to this show, it'll require luck but I really, /REALLY/ need to see Ev live. I've been trying for three years and it's never worked out ;_; So I hope I can go to see them at RI, I'm really hoping...

Question guys...
I have my GA floor seats for this event now, bought them this morning on ticketmaster. Question is this... there is going to be no actual seats on the floor is there? I know this might sound kinda silly thing to ask but when i got my confirmation number ticketmaster gave me a row and seat number for the GA floor section where Glens Falls, NY event didnt give me any of that...
What do ya'll think? Do you guys get that as well?
Jordana if you are reading this... did your confirmation email say stuff like that as well?
Get back to me!

even if there are actual 'seats' i dont know if those #s really matter. if it says ga it will probably be like a normal ga shows just with seats. ive never been to one of those so i dont know lol

Yeah to tell you the truth... I really cant even imagine them having seats on the floor with General Admission and such.
1 - The seats wouldnt last as they would be knocked over with people standing all the time.
2 - From every Evanescence show Ive seen, and the one that I have actually went too, there we no actual seats in the GA floor section. Im guessing this is not going to change in Providence, RI. There is really no reason for it too.
So Im guessing it is just basically a formality or a way of them counting how many bodies they can actually fit into the floor section, and then selling that many number of theoretical "seats" if you will,
Understand? Heh I hope I came accross clear. LOL!

Since they re did the Civic Center (Now the Dunkin' Donuts Center) they alow very little, many restrictions.
Not like the old days.
deesha
01-27-2007, 04:18 PM
So is the floor just like stadium seating then?
I dont really get it lol.
EDIT!!!
Ok I just phoned the Dukin Donuts Center to get down to the bottom of this. The GA Floor section for the concert... is rush seating and all standing. Which is what I figured. However she said they assign you seats in another area that you can go sit down at if needed. I am happy about this. So again RUSH seating on GA Floor area with backup seats incase you get tired or something. So first come first too the barracade at the stage... which is where I shall be, again!

But if this is the case I will be switching my tickets for lower arena.

however i noticed one thing. on the ticket for this show, it doesn't say anything about cameras. on the ticket to glens falls it says big on the ticket "no camera/video/recording". maybe at this venue we will be able to take our cameras? odd...
and to answer some questions and clear up some confusion, (i think deesha already pointed this out but i will reinstate) the floor is all general admission, first come first serve. however, if you wish to sit, we have a section for us (right beside the stage). so either way, you'll see everything awesomely! :D

I think im going to be there wayyy earlier then that. when i went to the avalon in october i got there at 12 and there was already like 40 people there. So im going early in the morning around 8ish. The GA floor area at the dunkin is pretty big, so there are going to be alot of people that are going to want to be there early that have GA tickets also, because if your in the back then you cant see crap! i went to a concert there a while ago, and the people in the back of the GA floor couldnt see that great. But at that concert, they had chairs set up in the floor area because it wasnt a concert where you mosh at.

Yea, my plans keep on changing of when im getting there. My boyfriend is still in school too and now hes saying that hes not going to get out of school early to go to the concert... so i might have to wait for him to get out now! i live down in newport RI so it only takes like 45minutes to get there. Either way.. i really want to get as close to the stage as possible. That huge guy at the avalon, seriously blocked my whole view of amy lee! and this chick standing next to me would not Budge one bit, so it was just as bad as being in the far back.

got my ticket in the mail!! :D
however i noticed one thing. on the ticket for this show, it doesn't say anything about cameras. on the ticket to glens falls it says big on the ticket "no camera/video/recording". maybe at this venue we will be able to take our cameras? odd...
and to answer some questions and clear up some confusion, (i think deesha already pointed this out but i will reinstate) the floor is all general admission, first come first serve. however, if you wish to sit, we have a section for us (right beside the stage). so either way, you'll see everything awesomely! :D
On my ticket our sets ( if you don't want the floor) are WAAAAYY up top far from the stage.
You are alowed cameras but no video recording. Little do people know now digital cameras have video too!!!

Just got back from the concert. WOWZWAWEWOOO I dont know where to start.... Ive been listening to EV since 2003. Ive seen countless performances via the net and loved them but always wondered what it would be like to be there. Ive read what its like to be there live countless times but always wondered would I know what it would truly feel like. I never thought I would get to see them live. I had accepted it and I could lived my life 'fine' if I had never seem them live. I thought Providence was the last place they would EVER play (we're the smallest state in the US for christ sakes you can barely see us on a map! hehe). And even though I bought my ticket online back in January I didnt think it would be reality until I literally saw them on stage. That bring us to today. Show started off with Finger Eleven. They were ok. After listening to a few of their songs I went to the bathroom and watched the RedSox game out in the hall (Ha!) and basically just watched it until I heard....her....It was like somethin was calling me...then I realized the REAL concert is starting!@ So I rushed to my seat and saw they were here! And most importantly.... she was here! It was not a dream it was freakin and I MEAN FREAKIN reality. What proceeded next were the most amazing performances I have ever seen. Just amazing. Im not going to point out any thing specific but it just amazing show. It was like those youtube clips came to life to me hehe. How they put SOOOOOOoooo much effort (Amy especially) on a night to night basis I dont know. You have to be really dedicated to your craft to be able to do what they do. And before you knew it....it was over. The true sad end but what a wonderful night. It goes by so fast too. Your rocking and groovin sooo much and before you know it...its over.....I think cried a little (just a little I am a guy after all hehe  ) when I got back home. Then I wrote endlessly on here about it. Had to. The End. Thank you Evanescence! Now I just have to worry bout that damn P-E-D...but its worth it......THANKS AGAIN EVANESCENCE!

I complete agree. This was my first concert ever, and it was probably up there with the best nights of my life. First off, I was ridiculously close to the stage (literally as close as possible) for which I am eternally grateful. Next...HOLY FREAKING CRAP! I have never been as excited or had that much adrenaline running through me as I did while Evanescence was performing. I completely freaked out when I saw Amy (which was earlier than I had expected...but I won't give the surprise away!) Seeing them on stage, rocking out to their music, screaming at the top of my lungs, and being around other hardcore fans was an experience unlike any other. Unbelievable. (Next time I'll take my camera--I took crappy pictures with my cellphone, but noticed that there were people taking digital photos right in front of the body guards, and they didn't lift a finger!)
'k, I'm done now.

I MET THE AMY.
To all of you going to Glen Falls, you better tell her to feel better.
She has an extremely terrible case of a sore throat, could even be strep.
It was pouring rain and I waited for them to come out, knowing Amy may very not come out.
But she did. That takes a ****ing lot. I love her for that. So, Amy, thank you for risking your health for us.
Anyways, I have to go, but last night was magical. Though her voice was really screwed up, she was, amazing. One of the best vocals she's pulled off.

My super spectaculer recap:
Ill skip all the boring stuff..like waiting for 4 hours. So we were pretty much at the front of the line, and as soon as the doors open, I RAN across the floor to the front. I was directly infront of where Terry was, at the banister. SO awesome. OMG. One dream come true. Finger Eleven was ok, Chevelle was all right, and I got a pick from the Chevelle bassist. :D Prize Number 1. Then OMG EV. I've never rocked out so hard in my life! I kept smiling and waving at Terry <3, and telling him I loved him, he is my new love, and he would smile and wave back :D So he threw pick number one in my direction, which DISSAPEARED. So after a few more loving gestures he threw another, which fell on the floor infront of a bouncer. I kept looking at him giving him a sad face and he would tell me "one minute" and he finally got it for me!<3 Prize number 2. Then I guess Terry threw yet another pick at me and that one vanished also :( Sorry love! So at the end he took like, 7 picks and threw them all at me! I got another one :) Prize number 3! Then when Rocky came over, he threw a drumstick in my direction and, miraculously, I got the one prize I truly wanted. Although 10 other hands grabbed it, I ****ing ripped that thing towards me like it was my baby. OMG. Prize number 4. :) Then, I got the Ev setlist, which I gave to my friend. The girl next to me was quite angry that I ripped it out of her hands:p
Im officialy pissed they came out after! We were gonna wait in the rain but had NO idea where they would come out, if they did. Did my love Terry come out?? Ill be pissed I didnt get to show him more affection. To the kid nex to my friend that we talked to all night=you rock!

I also met a father and son who wanted a pic with Terry. The son had a cell phone camera. So, I went up to Terry, introduced myself, and asked if he would allow me to take a pic of him with the boy. He graciously accepted.

I really wanted to stay after...but my mom said its so late, and you have to go to school and stuff. So that really sucked. But I was outside for about an half-hour. Yeah, Amy is really comitted to her fans, she is a very strong woman. Yeah, and somewhere I heard pretty singing somewhere. ^_^

The concert was awesome! and the wait was well worth it! i got there mad early in the morning around 10ish because i wasnt sure when other people were going to start getting there (most people didnt even come till like 3-5ish), i was the second person to be there. I saw a few people there that i saw at the avalon in boston. But i was soo happy to get a GREAT spot, i was right upfront to the leftish middle(tims side).
I thought it was funny though when amy threw her towel to the crowd and the chicks right behind me went crazy and there was 3 girls hanging on to it at the same time.. and also when she threw part of her skirt (the part that was ripping at the bottom) to the people next to me, and that person was nice enough to rip it into a few other pieces for some other people.
The snow was awesome, i have to say! i got the chills soo many times during the concert.. Her voice is just soo beautiful (just like her), even with a soar throat, i couldnt even tell until she talked

I wonder If I could comment on a few things on the journal:
I'm sorry but... I have never experienced such a ****ing terrible audience in my entire life! Evanescence fans blow my balls. They don't dance. They don't move. They don't mosh (though that's a given, but still).... they don't do ANYTHING. They just stand. They don't sing.
First off there was a firm warning there would be NO moshing or you would be escorted out. I believe one almost began and two security guards went over. We couldn't really move on the floor. We were very close together (yes we did move. Really all you could do is jump up and down. Also give us a break we were standing for 4 freaking hours.) LOL
I don't know where you were sitting but we were singing and screaming pretty loud. I could bearly hear Amy at all.
And man... the fans. Since when is the average Evanescence listener a 50 year old parent of 4 teenage girls?
Hate to break it to you but many Ev fans are teenagers.
I'm angry... I didn't get my tickets until a week after they went on sale, so I never got the chance to get floor tickets. PEOPLE DIDN'T EVEN FILL THE FLOOR TO THE HALFWAY MARK. WTF! I'd have done anything to be on floor! Sheesh.
Thats all the tickets that were sold for the floor. Remember the Station night club fire. NO were in RI will they chance that happening again. That's why the floor was not filled. I was shocked they allowed standing room only.
Sorry If I'm going to pay to see someone perform. I'm gonna hear them not fight off some smelly kid who keeps slaming into me! :-D

Haha yeah it does, kinda. Colorful scarves FTW.
And for another thing in that blog...Amy was really sick. FlamesHaveDestroyed said she looked awful afterwards, and she really DOES look sick in those pictures, poor thing. The fact that she came out in that weather when she was that sick is something to be considered in and of itself.
And yeah...the older guys with their kids are the ones who sit in the back. The majority of the fans, the younger generation, are usually towards the front and in the pit.

Then a security guard came over to me and said "The lead singer of the band doesn't want pictures taken so if we see you taking some, we'll take your camera away".... I just stared at him. I don't know if it was really Amy or the venue, but I ****in hate it when people claim they don't want their picture taken. It's a concert, deal with it.

IAW Wade. If they don't want cameras, they don't want cameras. It's really not that hard to put your camera away and just rock out. That's what you're there for, anyway, right? Personally, I bring my camera and sneak it in but only because I don't feel like running all the way to the car and back. I take pics of us before and after; during the show, I rock out and have a good time. :p
It's always based on the artist, btw. Whether the venue strictly enforces it is up to security, but the artist dictates what the terms are. A security guy at the Hartford show told us that when we asked.

In my oppinion, i think a gazzilion flashes takes away from the performance, she's there to perform and she and the guys are getting bombarded with flashes, that would be enough to make me go blind lol and probably fall off the stage tbh, even the press passes dont they only get to shoot for like 2 songs or so? and then thats it? because its bothersome?
Anyways that was really sweet of her to come out and say hi same with tim, she looks very pale and sick in those pictures, i hope she gets some well needed rest, i rem standing in the cold for the toronto and ottawa shows, and being sick like a dog for a week after and thats just cold imagine cold and rain! deadly combo!

I didn't know they said no moshing. I think it's actually kinda lame that they would even say that at a show. If someone doesn't want to be on the floor, then that's what the seats are for.
It's unfortunate about the club fire, and that now there are all new restrictions for shows. I've been to many shows in Providence recently and I haven't heard anything about these new rules about how many people can be there and such. That's why I didn't understand why not even half the floor was full.
And I didn't see too many teenagers. Maybe you were all down in the front, but compared to other shows, I didn't see too many.
I actually responded to that blog, 'cause it pissed me off o_0 She was ****ing lucky Amy came out period. So. There. D:

Frankly, I've been to dozens of shows, and this is the first time I've ever heard of a band requesting no flash. If anything, the lights behind, above and infront of the stage are more blinding than flashes on cameras. A band should be used to the flashes at shows, and I highly doubt flashes from the audience (and way back, which is where I was) would have any effect.

Ive been to many shows, and these rules have applied to all of them. Nothing new to me  Im pretty sure people way back took pictures, the bouncers up front are way more strict than staff walking around. I look at it like, you cant take a camera when you go to the movies and you cant when you go to a show! Its just the way it is. Who cares. The End.

I wasn't complaining to you directly.
Trust me. I don't bitch people off in forums. You indirectly caused me to rant, don't take it personally, kthx.

I agree. I wholeheartedly believe that the reason i even have any of these "complaints" would be because of the venue. That's why, I am incredibly excited for Family Values Tour, as I think the audience will be more into the music, compared to the show on Wednesday, which was a lot of parents taking their children. That and Family Values is gonna kick ASS.

I dunno about that. It's gonna be an even bigger venue, I assume. Also, there's gonna be a billion haters. The fans that will be there, I think will be great but...I don't think the fans of the other bands like Ev too much. The smaller the venue the better...But, we'll see. I'm excited too. I can finally see Ev in Boston :D

It's unfortunate about the club fire, and that now there are all new restrictions for shows. I've been to many shows in Providence recently and I haven't heard anything about these new rules about how many people can be there and such. That's why I didn't understand why not even half the floor was full.
The floor seats were sold out. Because in case of a fire or whatever they can't have people crammed together. Not to hard to understand. That's also why they repeated the emergancy drill (locate all exists)
Many clubs are waving the new rules. You might want to watch the news. There are many restriction now.
Everyone is ragging. I think they are just pissed they didn't get floor "seats" Sorry should have got tickets sooner cuz up front where I was everyone was having a great times without making asses out of themselves!!!!

The way it looks to me is this:
If you want to go and see a good live band you don't go and see evanescence. You go and see the mars volta or muse or the yeah yeah yeahs or enter shikari. I'd go and see all of those bands live, because they're known to put on a good show, despite only knowing one of those bands well (muse, woo.) People that go to see evanescence should be absolute hardcore fans of the band. The kind of people who'll get a thrill even if it's a bit rubbish, just because Amy's there. I wouldn't say evanescence are a bad live band - they're solid enough to please their devoted fans, but if you're not really, really into them you won't have a particularly good time.
From what LV is saying, it sounds as though it was a pretty run of the mill gig, nothing mind blowing to stick in your memory - UNLESS you're massive fan of evanescence, which most of you are, which is why you'll probably have a go at me for saying that.
But yeah, just remember, a good gig to someone can be a bad gig to someone else. And LV isn't even saying it's a bad gig.

How the band played is not why people are ragging. It's how we reacted. Even seeing a good live band (i'm not a hardcore fan I hate most of todays rock/Alt music most of it is usless noise) I don't go thrashing myself around. That is for when the band sux and people need something to entertain themselves with.
That IMO is not someone who likes music just a clubber who get his/her jollies out of acting like an ass!

I find that if the band is ****, I WON'T dance. Dancing is not something to do when a band sucks, dancing shows you're into the music.
Maybe evanescence fans can't dance. Or they believe the music to be bad to dance to. In which case there is little point buying standing tickets.
I suppose what I'm trying to say in my rather inept way is there are other ways to move around at a gig without acting like a berk and pushing people about.

Alright, lets flash about 1,000 camera's going off within seconds of eachother all during the evening, concentrating more on the beginning of your performance, and lets see how much you enjoy that every night?
Yes the lights must get into their faces, but dont sit there and tell me its normal and someone should be used to it and therfore they should enjoy it? just because you cant respect someone's wishes? you are there for the music last time i checked? not a photo shoot. thats just my oppinion.
Like someone said, the last shows i have been to, richie has said no camera's no video, and even outside no flash, the first canadian tour i was at, they allowed pictures without flash, just no video. Anyways im done ranting about this, i dont agree with your points, you dont agree with mine, so no use me going on any further.

Before the show while everyone was waiting in line someone was passing around a magazine that they just got at starbucks that had an interview in it with amy lee. THe whole flash thing isnt just about taking away from the performance/lighting or whatever, it really is what amy wants. The security guards werent "just saying" that the band didnt want pictures because they just wanted people to not take them because of there (guards) own reason. She said something in the interview about it taking away from HER performance, how it loses her concentration and takes her away from what she is doing. She doesnt want it to effect her performance, ya know. WHich is why some guards were ok with people taking pictures without the flash. The guards up front told us we could take pictures without the flash on. I wish i had the interview infront of me so i could show ya guys.. i'll look around for it online
But also including the fact that she doesnt like her picture taken anyways, shes always worried that she might look bad or something :P (silly amy, she will always look beautiful, no matter what)

I don't really understand what the deal with flashes on cameras is about anyway. Because now that I think about it, using flash at concerts doesn't work. I've been 5 feet away from the stage, and flash just washes away the picture. And if you're far away, like I was... using flash just lights up the peoples heads, but you can't see the stage. So technically, it's stupid to use flash at concerts anyway.
How the band played is not why people are ragging. It's how we reacted. Hahahaha. Oh man. If a band sucks, you DO NOT dance. If you're not into it, you don't move. Why would you want to dance to crap music?
If you love a band, you ****in rock out as hard as you can! If you wanna stand around and just listen to the music, then go sit in the seats, or stay at home with your headphones on. But the reason why there are such things as live shows is so you can go see the music live, be with other fans, and dance and rock out with other people!
I don't know what shows you've been to, but if you think people dancing to music are asses.... then you've never been to a concert before.

Dance No. If I want to stand on the floor and do nothing thats my right. If you want to be on the floor get tickets soon. If not quit bitching!' I met some really cool people and we had a ****ing good time without pushing and shoving everyone around us...Got a problem with that? no? then walk!

Well you people have officially brought me down for this thread for. As the first responder after the show (back on page 11) all I was hoping to read was a more positive reaction of what it was like for people there. These last few pages here is just.....BLAH. I wont call out anyone specific but collectively its just....BLAH. And at the end of the day it really is just nonsense.

I was at the avalon show a few years ago and this one just BLEW that away.
Being front row, in the exact spot that amy or John would run to of their right side didn't hurt.
Thanks again!
John tossed a pick dureing the last song and it popped me right on the head just as the lights went out for the lightshow...man...I wanted that!
