First balcony for both tickets. One second row, one third row. Pretty decent seats.

Maan, I would sooo LOVE to go. But it would be me going solo, and I would have to ditch on some plans that unfortunatly were setup before the concert was announced. But ya'know... if a ticket SOMEHOW appeared.. it would be a REALLY REALLY hard choice. Especially since the concert is on my birthday [Not so significant 28... but EV Live would be a perfect B-Day present to myself =)]
Whomever goes, make sure to have enough fun to make up for those of us who are not able to go... and pictures if possible!

A bit of info on Mcfarlin. It is SMALL I mean you can sneeze from the last row and hit the stage. It backs up to HIllcrest so its easy to find. Its REALLY OLD so the vibe of a rock band is gonna rule in there. The backstage door is literally a door on the back of the venue. This is going to be a small intiment show so its gonna rock ass. Plus dallas is sold out big time so its gonna be full. I plan on being down there about 3:30 if you see me say hi. Ill be in a Kelly Clakrson Crew Shirt. WHy cause she lives next door to me and gave it to me. Camreras the venue will always say NO. Pants em thats what I do. Sometimes when the venue and the production people have a meeting before the show before fans are let in thats when venue security will be told Small cameras are ok blah blah blah. If they are going to allow them in. It is up to the band not the venue. So a word of caustion just sneek them in.

Guys take some photos, please... ;)
I just got back and I have to say I was impressed. I went in there skeptical for several reasons but ultimately was impressed. They have definately improved alot since their last outing. Their setlist I wont go into cuz my memory sucks, but it was pretty much the same except they didnt play SWQ.
The vocals were amazing! I was shocked at how good they were, and the pianowork as well. The only flaw came with My Immortal. By the time she got to it, her voice was pretty much shot, and was starting to crack.
Also, I liked BMTL with less male vocals.
Revelation Theory is a strong opener too.

After waiting in the freezing cold for an hour and 45 minutes, I hugged Amy.
It was totally worth it. They weren't allowing pictures with Amy:( , only autographs.
Excellent concert. Amy sounded purely amazing, and Rocky definitely rocked out hard. It was better than their last concert I went to.
I got a picture with John, I'll post it later. Right now I'm so tired and cold, I'm going to bed!

Yah, Amy's voice started to give out at the end. Hopefully it'll get stronger as the tour progresses.
The show was awesome. Revelation Theory was a great opening act. And I had to laugh when Amy had problems sitting down in that skirt at the piano.

Oh my gosh. I went last night, and it was AMAZING! It was my very first concert ever, and it was EVANESCENCE! So, the McFarlin Auditorium is a very old theatre. We walked into the lobby and there was a huge crowd of people. We made our way to our seats in the balcony and waited for Revelation Theory to begin. They had some music playing over the radio to keep us entertained. Revelation Theory played, and they weren't bad, but I could hardly hear the singer's voice. They only played for about forty minutes, too. Before their last song, they thanked Evanescence for giving them the opportunity to go on tour with them. After a 15 or 20 minute break between bands, Evanescence finally came out. It got dark and everyone started screaming. Once everyone saw Amy's shadow, though, things got unbearably loud. It was amazing. The lights came on and Amy was in a flourescent, frilly pink skirt. They opened with Sweet Sacrifice. After one or two songs, she talked to us and told us that she was amazed that their rock album was #1 its opening week, and then thanked us. Then they played Going Under, and the whole audience was singing along with her. Between songs she would stop and tell us to rock out, and she kept mentioning that she saw us way up in the balcony, and was glad that we came, also. It was funny, that once the piano rolled out, she tried to sit down in her skirt and couldn't. It must have been the first time she wore it. While she was getting ready to play, people were screaming all over the place. It never once got silent. They screamed even louder every time Amy put her hair up to play the piano. She was impressed with that. She played Lithium, and then went solo with Good Enough, which was AMAZING. Then Call Me When You're Sober came, I think. She did just what she has done on all the TV shows. That was another song everyone was extremely excited to hear. Whisper was awesome, too. Bring Me to Life was next, and it was good, but John didn't sing the rap part for the whole song. He only did the bridge and the end, not the chorus. Lacrymosa was beautiful live. Once they went off. We all screamed for about 5 minutes, and they finally decided to do the encore. They rolled out the piano again, and everyone knew what that meant, so we screamed even louder. Amy was onstage by herself for most of My Immortal, but once the bridge came around, all the band members came out on stage, and got a huge applause. During the little break between verses, though, Amy said she was surprised we were all screaming so loudly because she was losing her voice. She sounded amazing anyways. Then came All That I'm Living For, which I don't really listen to all that much on the CD, but the live version was GREAT, and now I LOVE the song. Amy sounded BEAUTIFUL at the concert. She sounded just like the CD. It seemed to be a flawless performance. I was a little bit nervous that they wouldn't sound as good live as they do on the CD, but they sounded even better. It was one of the greatest days of my life.

When they played "THE ONLY ONE" I was really exicited although the bass at the beginning was unbearable at one point. That song translated live perfectly and the high part at the end she NAILED IT. Then the second surprise for me was "GOOD ENOUGH" that was amazing live.

A couple of cute moments were...Jon & Rockys families were at the show. Jon and his daughter came out after the show and were throwing guitar picks to the crowd. Then after the show Rocky and his kids came by everyone waiting by the busses and were high 5ing everyone. Terry was with is dog and his girlfried or wife not sure what she is. They were playing with their puppy that was cute.

I've been an Evanescence fan since the Daredevil movie but had never seen them in person before this show -- for one reason or another it just never worked out that I'd be able to go when they came anywhere near here. So I was SO glad to be able to score 15th row for this show. Although, this venue was so small I think you could have had a great view from the *last* row on the floor...dunno how the balconies were as I didn't go up there.
Setlist was awesome....Lithium and Imaginary were particularly special for me.....I've always had a "connection" with some of the lyrics in Imaginary so to finally hear it live was really, well, special...I don't wanna say "touching" b/c that sounds all girly :)
How about that *massive* crowd of people trying to meet the band after the show? I got a kick out of how about every 15 minutes another "chunk" of people would leave...and leave....and leave....as the crowd slowly shrank. But the wait was worth it, I got to meet Tim, and John (an Iron Maiden fan like myself!) and of course Amy...that in particular was something special, because I was talking with her about Imaginary and out of nowhere *she* gave *me* a hug....
(btw -- StarSprite posted earlier in this thread about going to the show with some friends, I'm one of 'em, just for reference)
it may have been my first Ev show but as I told Tim afterwards, it will NOT be my last.

I saw something flapping around the back of that shirt, but I couldn't tell what it was. I liked the collar on the shirt, too.
The skirt, though... It reminds me of one of those old-timey toilet paper covers:

I second all the great things the rest of you said about the show. It was so amazing I still can't find words... I'm still in total euphoria because I met Amy!!!! She was the warmest, kindest, sweetest, most BEAUTIFUL person and that hug was the best hug EVER!!!!!! And wow did her voice sound amazing live, I was impressed big time, and can't wait to see them again! :-)

Not such a good review....

Amy Lee kept the spotlight from her deadpan Evanescence bandmates Saturday at McFarlin Auditorium in Dallas.
DALLAS -- Celebrating a new CD that debuted last week at No. 1, Goth-rock band Evanescence performed Saturday at McFarlin Auditorium, one of the first stops on its quickie fall tour with opening act Revelation Theory.
Evanescence delivered a fairly prototypical set by sprinkling in old songs with material from the new disc, The Open Door, spotlighting the single Call Me When You're Sober and saving one of its biggest hits, My Immortal, for the encore.
In between were lots of chugging, churning chords and howling vocals, executed by singer Amy Lee. She was pretty much the entire show; her four bandmates, dressed in plain black shirts, performed stoically, leaving it to Lee to grab the spotlight.
She showed off powerful pipes, exhaling long passages of anxious moaning, sounding as if she were in distress.
Lee is not the first to do Goth-style vocals, but antecedents such as Sarah McLachlan and Curve's Toni Halliday have done it with deeper emotional subtext.
Lee has a flat, one-dimensional quality that, after time, grows dull.
Evanescence's sound is fine for three minutes, which in the end makes it a pop band, OK for radio but not for a 75-minute show.
The band's limitations became all the more obvious given the shoestring-budget nature of this small-venue tour, with stage props restricted to a few vertical strips of lights and her odd hoop skirt made from layers of red and black tulle, densely compacted so it looked like flowers or feathers.
Inside, throngs of alienated, outcast teens lined up to buy band T-shirts, presumably to help identify themselves to other alienated, outcast teens.
But with no alcohol sales and a sizeable sprinkling of adults, the show had a surprisingly wholesome, almost family vibe, which diminished the delightfully gloomy tone found at a typical "Goth" show.

Yikes. That's harsh. I'd call Ev's set pretty freaking entertaining, but Amy IS most of the show.
That's the skirt she wore in NYC haha...man that thing was freaking huge. She managed to sit at the piano just fine with it, though.

Rock: Evanescence not that impressive at McFarlin

By MIKE DANIEL / The Dallas Morning News
A voice, a look and a vision can lift a pop star to heaven-scraping altitudes.
DARNELL RENEE/Special Contributor
Goth rock's reigning queen, Amy Lee, should have performed better on Saturday night. So it is with Amy Lee, the reigning queen of gothic modern rock, who wields a gripping and husky voice and flaunts a coy aura, pretty face and a charming fetish for frilly skirts and corsets.
Her vision as half of Evanescence (the other half: Ben Moody) was to be the average adolescent malcontent's spiritual adviser through song: to be Trent Reznor without the self-torture and implied violence, or Marilyn Manson without the perversion and tittilation. Evanescence was darkness, lite. And mild-mannered teens ate it up by the millions.
Now with Mr. Moody long gone, Ms. Lee is all of Evanescence. Live, she had problems getting its platinum-ballasted load airborne alone at its long-sold-out theater show Saturday night at McFarlin Auditorium.
Part of the issue was Mr. Moody's replacement, guitarist and frequent co-songwriter Terry Balsamo, who was so stiff and disengaged he may as well have been offstage. Granted, he's reportedly still feeling the effects of a stroke suffered 11 months ago (second guitarist John LeCompt handled the few required solos); so some deference is due. But to face stage left instead of the audience for the entire show and almost never look at (much less acknowledge or feed off of) some of the loudest and most vocal fans seen at a concert this year is patently inexcusable for the supposed second-in-command.
But Ms. Lee is just as much to blame as both Mr. Balsamo and the 75-minute set's planners. Her meaty and mighty vocals dominated and occasionally inspired, only barely breaking on difficult high-alto and low-tenor passages. Yet her strutting, gesturing and genuflecting quickly grew as repetitive and bland as the pace of the show: play a song, stop, wait for the others to grab a freshly tuned guitar (after every song?) and start the next one.
Except for the encore, the 14-song gig seemed to be organized by band activity rather than for sonic impact. Ms. Lee caressed only a microphone for the first six numbers; then she tickled a grand piano for "Lithium" and the evening's high point, an unaccompanied version of the romantic ode "Good Enough." Then, she bounded from pounding on a stage-left keyboard to center stage and back during the regular set's final four tunes. Other problems: boomy bass and an over-the-top, six-tower light array that was brighter than many traveling carnivals.
A theater tour will have some corners slashed; backing tracks of harmony and choir vocals, synths and some piano were all blended in, for instance. Let's hope Mr. Balsamo, Ms. Lee and others have more thrust in reserve when the inevitable arena tour taxis for take off.

Evanescence Concert Review: (If you can't see the pics, copy and paste and enjoy!)
Ok, so we get there and EVERYONE is dressed in black! Everyone, that is, except for me and Manderz! So, we go in and take our pic next to all the black clothes peeps. Which of these 2 does not belong?
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a222/amyc0803/amzmanderz.jpg
So then we buy our stuff and go sit down. The opening band was really good, though their name escapes me at the moment. Something Revolution or Revolution something. Anyhoo, I take a few pics of them but it is kind of too dark for the pics to come out good. After their show, a photo natzi comes up to me and says if I take another picture, then I'm getting kicked out! Then he stared at me like a hawk for the rest of the show! Flucking photo natzis! Anyway, Evanescence comes on later and they are just FLUCKING AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!! I almost didn't know what to do with myself because I'm so used to being the photographer at concerts. So, instead, I just enjoyed the show and gave Anne a cell cert.
After the show, we went outside because rumor had it the band would be coming out to greet the fans. Well, it was flucking cold, i'm not gonna lie. We stood what seemed like ages. As the crowd began to die down, we "stood our ground" as Grendz so eliquently put it. The new guitarist Tim came out and went to our side first. I got my pic with him:
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a222/amyc0803/amztim.jpg
He was on the drink. Then another band member came out. This time it was John. I got my pic with him and Manderz:
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a222/amyc0803/amzmanderzjohn.jpg
Then we hadn't gotten a pic with Grendz the whole night, so we got that next:
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a222/amyc0803/amzgrendzmanderz.jpg
We met a girl named Ashley. I thought she resembled Amy Lee quite a bit, and told her so. Finally, Amy Lee actually came out. The photo natzis were telling us to put our cameras away because there were no pics aloud. So what are they gonna do? Kick us out? We were already outside. So, my brave self went over and got this:
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a222/amyc0803/amylee.jpg
Like I said, it was cold so she was pretty bundled up. She even had Napoleon Dynamite ski boots on, except hers were grey or white.
Then it was our time to meet Amy. Manderz was first. She got an autograph and asked for a hug. After the hug, Amy Lee asked her how many diseases she had. It was funny. Then Grendz went up and got his autograph. They discussed the song "Imaginary" and then Amy reached out to HIM and gave him a hug! Needless to say, he was about to pass smooth out. Then it was my turn. I got my autograph and commented on her cat pull-over. I then got a hug myself. Then I asked her, "no pictures?" She said she was sick and she was trying to make it fast. I said ok and I understood. Then I stepped back and let our new buddy Ashley go. I got a pic of them after their hug:
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a222/amyc0803/amyashley.jpg
Ashley was soooooooooo happy I had gotten that pic. But she said she was sad because I didn't get to get one with Amy. So, she gave me her email address to send the pic to.
So yeah I think we all know that they dont get much critical praises, espeically in Texas.

An awesome show no matter what the critics say! It was my first time seeing Evanescence in concert and I enjoyed every minute of it, though it all went by so fast! Here is my experience;
It took me a little over 8 hours to get to Dallas since I live near the Kansas City area. It wasn't bad, of course I listened to all of thier CD's on the way down to pass the time! Now I see that they will be in Oklahoma City, so I'm stoked about that! Since I wasn't sure about the camera situation I bought a disposable one and hid it in my long sock covered with baggy pants. I wish I took my digital camera because I could have took tons of pictures and movies. The thing that ticked me off was if anyone held a regular camera up, the picture patrol would tell you no! But if you had a camera phone it was all right?!! When Revolation Theory came on they were good though I couldn't hear the singer over the music. It seemed no one was interested in them because just about everyone was sitting down during thier time on stage. It was totally different when Amy and crew came out, Everyone was up and screaming the entire time! As I said earlier, it all went by so quick! After the show I went around back and stood for awhile to wait for an auto graph. It was a neat experience seeing all the people come out that I have seen in the "Anywhere but Home " CD. I didn't care for the top security guy (can't remember his name) he had a big ego, tough guy image to uphold saying "if you don't back up, I won't let her come out over and over!" It was just a bunch of kids excited to see amy and the band and to get an autograph! It was cold and I didn't know how the whole waiting for an autograph goes, so I left. But as I was driving away I swung back around and it looked like Amy and the band finally came out! Next time I'll be sure to stay until they do come out!! Well that's a wrap till the next show!
