How Did You Discover EvThreads?

I didn't find an identical thread so I guess this is a new one :D

EvThreads isn't quite prominent in advertising, so a lot of us would have had to discover it somewhere somehow :)

How did you find this site? I found EvThreads when I was searching the web for websites that have past Evanescence interviews and articles and such, and then I came across this site. I lurked around for awhile and then decided to join. I believe it was fate, cuz this is the best community that I have ever been part of on the computer.

I was always searching for new info on Ev and all of my searches led me HERE since every little piece of Ev was being discussed here :) I thought I needed to pay to become a member (which i couldn't do) so I just used to lurk :p but then I realized that it's free and I joined right away. I lurked this place for about a year before joining! ha.

Funny Question.. I knew of Evboard from the TOD Booklet and Evthreads from the Ev.com website. I didn't want to join because forums are for nerds but I did eventually and I was in awe at the amazingly positive atmosphere here. Everyone loved the music and so did I, how could I not love the place?

I didnt know anyone from the band posted here either, it kinda blew my mind when I found out.

I kept reading Amy quotes and information about Evanescence on wikipedia which was always quoted from Evthreads. I think I joined so i could read Amys posts and comment on them. Also whenever I googled a question about Evanescence it usually came up with a thread from here so it was inevitable really - Evthreads is my main source of information!!! The only thing that put me off for ages was my ridiculous shyness, but i eventually got over it enough to join!! Woop!

When I first became an Evanescence fan, like the end of my Freshman year, I was all obsessive and read everything I could on the band, and I discovered EvBoard and how Amy posted there, so I got one but never posted. Then I read about EvThreads and how that was where she was currently posted, so I got one but didn't post for the longest time until right before my junior year.

For a while, you did. Back in the day though it was free, and there was a paid subscribers section, where you could be a paid subscriber. It was only mandatory to pay for a few months in time(when the whole fight stuff went down), otherwise it's always been free.

I think i was searching for anything about new Ev.. it was around March of this year and I saw the post Amy made about L&L and then i saw it said "Love, Amy" at the bottom and like flipped. Then i read through all Amy's past posts and loved the fact she actually wrote on here.. Then i decided to join and it was the best decision ever!

how did i discover evthreads? As i recall shortly after columbus took off and discovered what he thought was the west indies, my crew and i left on a voyage sponsored by her majesty in Britain. We went wayy off course due to inaccurate weather reports and heavy winds. We ended up somewhere in central america. There we saw some hyper pixie type creatures and dark clothed, yet very pale individuals. We asked them their names and they told us they were the people of evthreads. We went back to England and reported or discovery immedietly

I joined Evboared after all the drama and didnt like the place - still a member there but seemed to be full of wanabe bullies - I mean what kinda sh*tbag is a bully on the internet lol - anyway someone said about the split and that most of Amys fans had gone to this place called Evthreads and I joined straight away - top place and never heared the word "lurk" since leaving Evboard

About four months, if that. So not very long lol. I was made a mod some time in mid- to late summer of 2006 and the drama sh*tstorm happened in October...a month or two later, I logged in and found that I was de-modded without prior warning. *shrug* I wasn't a full-fledged mod, either. EvBoard was so huge and so active that some of us were assigned to only certain forums (I had all the Ev-related forums + the Advice forum).

Actually, all of the mods were asked if we were interested in being mods here when this place was being built. There were something like 20 of us (past and current at the time) total for Sparkart to choose from. Clearly, I didn't make the cut...which is absolutely fine with me; I was so new at modding as it was that if I beat out a veteran, it just wouldn't be right (and I wasn't all that great of a mod anyway lol). So I'm perfectly happy being a normal member. :)

There was a period of a couple of weeks right after the drama situation when you did have to be a paid subscriber to post. Other than that, no, it's always been a free forum. Up until 2007, there was an option to become a Paid Subscriber - that is, donate to help with the costs of running the site. A message board on the scale/activity of EvThreads and EvBoard can get pretty expensive, and EvBoard was owned by a single person. I became a PS (we called ourselves Smurfs because our usernames were blue lol), and later on kept my access when I was made a mod.

And I totally remember all the drama and the angry posts demanding financial support from evboard. Ve-ry confusing for a noob.
