The Nightmare Before Christmas was unexpected, but at the same time it wasn't shocking. It's dark, and the content flows well with rock. But...Muppets? However I loved the album and I loved what Amy did with Sally's Song. I'm more than willing to give it the benefit of a doubt thanks to that.

I would have never guessed the Muppets. Not in a million years. The song sounds like quite the departure from anything Ev's done before. I wonder if this opens the door to a completely different sound for the third record.

I guess the beauty of doing a song on a soundtrack like this is to do something that is unlike anything you normally do, so I don't know...

^ yeah, I think it's a great way to branch off and test out new styles, although that doesn't necessarily mean that Amy will waiver from the rock-style that she so gracefully portrays in all her other songs. I think "Halfway Down The Stairs" actually really works for her. it sounds like a good fit and something that she can definitely tweak and make her own. I'm sure she'll lengthen the song too, just like she did with Sally's Song by adding the instrumental part and the harp.

that's another thing...does anyone else think she's gonna bring more harp into this song too? it sounds like it would work and I know that she was stoked about learning how to play harp, so I'm wondering if she'll throw some of that into the song...anyone else?

I think it's a pretty, little song -- very little -- about contemplation in the midst of your life. I'm very curous to see how Amy and Will-not-the-drummer interpret the song.

That's a beautiful little song, I'm sure we all can imagine Amy covering it, but I guess the most predictable thing is to think she'll start it quiet and soft and then suddenly BUM! here comes Amy shouting with loud percussion and guitars, letting her pain go and everything. I think it would be interesting to see if she can mantein that quiet atmosphere of the song just for once, and not use the appearing/desapperaing resource, we all know she can do that. It's funny because the other day a friend of mine who I considered a completly non-musical human been told me "she shouts in every single song" and when I thought about it, I had to admitt she was right. I mean it's not that I'm not excited and looking forward too it, I am, it's just not what I thought it would be. When Amy said she had a surprise, it all sounded like it was going to be something huge, like big news or something, but this isn't that big. There was no susspensful surprise post before "Sally's Song", so why is this different? but then again Amy said she had another surprise, so maybe we shouldn't complain yet ;)

Anywho, I never really payed much attention to the muppets, I remember them from my childhood, but that's about it. With that said I'm not familliar with this song, but I'm sure Amy will make it awesome, she has a knack for making awesome things :)

I totally agree. I could see in that 'Whats the surprise?' thread, that people were blowing it out of proportion and having too high expectations for something that was 'little'. And I agree that everyone should wait for the actual song. Amy said she made it different, you probably won't need to like the original song to like Amy's version.

I'm not a fan of the muppets. I never really have been. So I guess I was a little disappointed. But now I'm not because I just find that if I don't listen to the song she'll be doing, then I'll have no expectations of what her version will be like. and if u read the tweets, she did explain that when she told us there was gonna be a secret, she thought she was only telling us a month in advanced...instead its pushed back to next year (that seems to happen a lot with Ev releases). 2010 is gonna be amazing. This year, for those who went, all there was was Legends and Lyrics. But if we look at it, Ev isn't all that far now. In less than two months, there will be recorded sessions of a live show in Brazil. Thats a major up! Somewhere between 2 and 4 months after that, we will have L and L possibly on TV and DVD, this new album in late March/Aprilish, and then hopefully our 3rd Evanescence album shortly after. Give it a few months and then there'll be touring for a while. Plus music videos, radio, interviews, and special shows. Next year only gets better as it goes along.
Just gotta be patient.
AND...dont forget, any of you...theres STILL another suprise :o

Oh it will definitely feature some piano, its her main instrument but so far, with the new stuff (all 1 minute and 47 seconds of it xD), I haven't heard even a hint of piano.

It all depends when this change came on, in relation to when the song was written. If its a recent thing then it will most likely be piano based but if the whole Portishead thing was what she set out writing like then it'll be completely different.

Who knows? All we know is that its gotta be good because it has her name on it :D

okay so it's january and there's no release date back on amazon yet...i think it still must be feb. 16 cause it says that on cduniverse.com and amazon's uk site. i hope so *fingers crossed. it's only a month! that came fast.

I believe that is the same time as the album and the Muppets Revisited now. Imagine if they actual feature the Muppet's Song on the album and I am sure Your Love will be on there too, the MUppets thing on the album would be a bonus but unlikely. I am hoping that Disney do reprudiate their decision cause apparently thier is meant to be another halloween special thingy, I read it but lost the page :( so they cannot have to many things at once can they? but all the other websites state Feb? We need to find out somehow.

Let us all wait until February 16th as many of the sites state this and if it is not released by then then we are screwed, though Amy stated when she first replied about the surprises that it may be April? you can check that up I am not going to bother as it is on the evanescencewebsite.com but who knows when we will finally hear at some point this year!

Yes but how often do they update the site? Look at Evanescence.com. The official website states 5 members but there are only three members now so far, and also sales wise Fallen is stated to have sold 15 million but now it is 18+ or more, possibly 20 million so I would not rely on sites but official confirmation from articles like the ones I originally posted. If you cannot remember then I have quoted myself here to remind you:

So what you are saying is that an official member of the Muppets and by far the most famous one is lying on twitter about their updates? that Disney had delayed the album to the Fall 2010. Also the person who edited that Muppets wiki page is called Muppets Studio, the same one involved in with the album.

Amy said "april I think..." so not for sure, I guess she does not know herself. She would have confirmed the message too as well, I do not think she broke the news about the CD being released. In fact I first saw the release date for the Muppets CD being mentioned on Evanescencewebsite, so you can check that and / or the twitters for that both parts.

First the Legends and Lyrics, now this, next thing you know the album will be shelved! :| Also I cannot believe VH1 have not provided any news about the 2008 and 2009 episodes of "I Love the New Millenium." Man they really are testing our patience and I am normally a patient guy, :p but I have to agree with others that they are making us wait for everything related to Evanescence, whether it is an album, one song or 2 episodes on TV. :confused:

Maybe, we will have to wait and see, I am still convinced L&L is being used to promote the the third album and that You Love will be on there. I just fail to understand why the Muppets thing has been pushed back too and for what reason. Seriously if we get no confirmation by next week (tuesday) then I guess it will not be released soon :(

I know, I mentioned that earlier, but how regularly do they update sites? we just have to wait. And I am sure they won't get it wrong, after all they indicated the release of Nightmares Revisited successfully. I just do not understand why Amy has said nothing yet, the same with disney? ie official confirmation.

I also agree with AOG, that's not definite most albums will only released a snippet of the tracks at least 1 or 2 weeks before an album becomes available for purchase. I do believe that the Nightmare Revisited only begin releasing snippets 2 weeks prior.

We could only hope that Amazon makes another mistake and release the album earlier than the expected date, just like what happened with Lil Wayne's album. (I think it was his album)

When she state it was pushed back? she never did, that was the Muppets Official Site. She just stated she thought it was April, but it appeared on Amazon as February 2010, then the Muppets Site states it has been pushed back to fall 2010 so I dunno where you got that from. ;)
