Well, actually, 'tis more of a curiosity for EV fans living in Australia.
I'm curious about how one would, legally of course, obtain access to EV's pre-Fallen works.
Thoughts?

Didn't the band say people were free to download Origin songs because it was so hard to get hold of? I'm pretty sure I saw that somewhere.

Aye.
I recall hearing about that.
The question is... where to download them?

Try emp3 world (http://www.emp3world.com)
I'm not sure if it'll have all of their stuff, but if you have time, it's worth a try.
There used to be an awesome Evanesence fan site that allowed you to download all of their older music, but the admin shut it down. RIP MLB... *Weep*

Well I presume since theyv'e given their permission it would be from places that don't charge? I'd be rather wary of file sharing programs though. The temptation might be too great to grab something else as well.

I really don't know, all of us would buy this but it's so hard to. I have my origin now, but I'm looking for this since 5 years.... !!! I think searching is the best way:confused:

Ebay has Origin sometimes. But of course you can't always be sure that it's the real thing. I actually saw someone listing fake cds t hat had never been released a few days ago. Greatest hits and so on and calling them official -.-

I've bought my copy in a local metal shop, which doesn't exists anymore :( but after that I had uploaded it to my website (see link), but I think the link is now expired to the downloads. That's why I'm working on a new paid site, where I will upload the songs again.
But just try browsing Ev fansites, you'll probally find something!

I don't have a real copy of Origin, but I burned myself a copy with mp3 downloads which I got from fieldsofinnocence.com (http://www.fieldsofinnocence.com). I think they have other songs too...Only thing is that you have to sign up to download, but it's all good.

I just did my research on the pre fallen albums then went on a search and managed to find and download all the unreleased songs that we fans, have heard, and just burnt it on a disc in the exact album orders.
Mind you this was 2 years ago or more, so while searching for pre fallen songs, the band was fresh and so it was easy for me to find, as everyone was in a 'hunting' craze.

i have origin, i got it off ebay. as for the rest of the pre fallen demos and songs, i downloaded them all off limewire and bearshare. (i hate bearshare, stupid pop ups!) but ya, i got them all like 4 years ago, it was much easier to get their demos back then. the majority of them are on limewire though. or find a friend off the threads that has them and is willing to share! :p

I got it included in a DVD/CD package-thing. I'm not sure whether it's an official DVD or not. I can't remember the name either >.< we moved a year ago and there's still stuff I can't find including this. It was of a concert though. Not Anywhere But Home. I have that too. This was in a black case.

I downloaded all the old songs by limewire and symella!
I know Amy and Ben said in an interview it was perfectly fine to download Pre-Fallen stuff. They don't make a profit from anyway. Glad I found this site on this post http://www.evfan.net.tc/. I managed to download a few odd songs I havn't been able to find elsewhere:D

Damn. I thought I had completed my collection. I now see I need like 10 covers and 5 acoustics. :: runs off to limewire ::

I'm trying to find Origin on e-bay, and there are a lot listed. All of them only have 10 or 11 tracks, does that mean they are not real?
Katya
12-10-2006, 01:46 PM
Origin has 11 tracks. Any more or any less means that it's fake.
And almost all of the Origins on eBay are fake anyway, whether the tracklisting is right or not.
Lauren1
12-10-2006, 01:53 PM
So is there anywhere I can buy it and be sure it's real?
Katya
12-10-2006, 01:54 PM
Nope. Nowhere. Only 2500 copies of it were made.
Honestly, you'd be better off downloading them for free. The band has even said that they don't want us paying for some fake copy off eBay; they'd rather us download it all.

Original Origins around the time they started selling out (can you believe it took about 2 1/2 years before it did?) were going for as high as $300 on EBay.
I don't honestly know how much they're going for now, but I'm with the band on this one :p

i wouldn't say that. as previous people have said, pretty much all the origins and other pre fallen stuff on ebay is just someone whose downloaded it and put it onto a cd. i wouldn't call that legal! just download it. the lable aren't loosing out on money by doing so.

yeah but. its slighty more legal than just downloading it. and sometimes you may actually find a real copy with a case and stuff. but whatever.

so someone else downloading it and selling it for waaay too much money, and pretending its a real copy is more legal than you downloading it? i think not! its very very rare that they are real. not all the tracks are even on fallen/ev EP/ sound asleep EP. trust me, just download it. but only pre fallen stuff!! i dont condone downloading The OPen Door when you can easily get it in shops!:p

Exactly. These people take high quality scans of the CD, download the tracks, burn them to a CD and print out the artwork on the right kind of paper so it looks legit. There's nothing legal about that at all. Why pay money for something that someone did with way too much time on their hands? Just download it yourself...Amy has said that she's okay with it, so I say, go with it.

Most of the stuff you find on the internet, with people claiming it's authentic, most likely isn't.
Amy said in a concert, right before playing "Even In Death," that if the fans, in the crowd, liked it they can check it out on Kazaa or something.
You don't have to obtain a legal document to get all of Evanescence's old, Pre-"Fallen" songs.
That includes:
The three EP's
Origin
and the demos to "Fallen."

the easiest way is to go to torrents and just look up origin and whatever
they have all them there all bundled like a cd. i got origin from a torrent site where it also included all the album artwork for Origin, the back, the front and the inside
Neat huh?!

I have a question. Off the Evanescence Reference site, I`ve been playing the songs with Windows Media Player, and I`ve tried burning them to blank cd`s. But everytime I try, it gives me this stupid "Not synchronized" warning. Can anyone help me? I`m horrible with computers.

Things to take note of are the high quality music videos, especially for Lithium and Sweet Sacrifice. You can't get a hold of those easily. Also, extremely rare tracks like EPs and demo versions can also be downloaded for free from the EvaLair link.
Enjoy. :)

99% of the time, any pre-Fallen albums being sold on Ebay (or anywhere for that matter) are fake. So congratulations, you probably got scammed.

Oh I've been there - I've been scammed many times but I've turned that around. Being a deep Ev fan myself, I found it so frustrating that other Ev fans were getting ripped off on eBay. So I started selling on eBay instead. What I do is that I buy up the three CDs preceding Fallen, rigorously test them, and attempt to authenticate them. While I cannot guarantee 100% verification, when I'm done with them and put them back on the market, I'm 99.9% sure they're real.
What do I do with the fakes? They get sent back to their owners and I take their seller IDs and warn potential buyers.
At the moment I only resell Origin CDs because they're cheaper to buy. The Evanescence EP usually fetches $1000 and the Sound Asleep EP usually fetches $700. As you can imagine, I can't buy those up each time and test them, whereas the Origins I can.
So at this point you're probably wondering what I've got. I've probably got a dozen real Origin CDs (one signed by the entire band at the time), I've got two Evanescence EPs (one signed by the entire band at the time), and three real Sound Asleep EPs (one signed by Amy). Actually I have four Sound Asleep EPs, but one is a fake as I've discovered, so I'm sending it back.
In addition, I keep meticulous records with the CDs history from each person I buy from, each CD has some background to it.
By the way, Moderators - this is not an advertisement or anything of that sort - I'm just letting other Ev fans know what lies beyond EvThreads. If you want to learn more, just look up my eBay ID: drandre06
EDIT: I'm actually hoping to work together with the Wiki Evanescence Reference and share my authenticating tips and info with you folks. :)

I was wondering: is this legit?
And if it is, is it a legal site?

I have tried every site but i'm still having trouble getting a hold of the pre fallen stuff.I finally got it all downloaded but now i'm still having trouble.I think it's the CD now that i'm having the problem with.I need to get some new CD's and hopefully I'll finally have all the songs recorded.

I had the biggest problem with this site at first but eventually i got it to work by individually saving and downloading every song.Like i said now my problem is the CD either that or i did something wrong.By the way a couple of the sites in this thread don't actually work anymore but i can't remember which ones right now.
