I remember in a thread about the 'door' being on eBay, a lot of people were wondering where they could get the video on the making of the cover. Well, thanks to Evanescence Website (http://www.evanescencewebsite.com) we now have a video of it. Enjoy!

Yeah, totally, that narrator was over-enthusiastic! I know she fangasms over Ev but she really needs to calm her nerves down!
Yeah, that was kinda interesting, thanks for the link!
Wow I always thought the cover was CG.. not an actual photo.
In any case, they retouched the hell out of it enough to make it look CG.

lol, photoshop is so fun :p

I actually found that really interesting, despite the monotone of the narrator lol. I really appreciated how she went in depth with how exactly they decided on the size, how they executed it, where they got the finished painted design from, how they did the lighting and trials before the actual shoot, etc. Usually, people don't think about what goes into making an album cover and sometimes it can be very complicated, as shown here.
I liked how they took us step-by-step through the process, too. :) Maybe it's the creative dork in me, but I really liked the whole thing...I wish other bands/creative teams would do that.

Thank you for sharing. That's pretty awesome...it's easy to forget just how much work and how many people were involved in making the album.

I actually found that really interesting. A lot of people just think that an album cover is just put together in like half an hour or something but I liked finding out what actual works goes into it e.g the photograhy etc . I have to say that dress of Amys is stunning, Ive said it before but I just had to say it again. :p
The only thing about that video was the narrator wow she should have an award for the most boring voice.

I have to say I found watching this interesting too. It was good to get an insight on how they managed to get the cover looking the way it did. They went through more hassle than I thought! I was in the mind of thinking they used a green backdrop and just used computer graphics in order to create the door.

I thought it was CG or something too, that's pretty cool how they did that.

Guess what I found on YouTube?
It's a video (a bit boring though, but still interesting) on how the cover for "The Open Door" was created. And we get to see a drawing made by Amy! :)

I think TOD had such gorgeous packaging. Her dress reminded me of my wedding dress except my top was more corset-like.
