Oh yeah; that's the Astoria in 2003 I think...right when they went #1 in the UK. It's pretty well-known amongst the older Ev fans. Best response to an *******, IMO.

IIRC, she got a lot of that kind of bull**** way back when, which is kind of sad (at least...old articles and stuff mention it). Thankfully, it stopped. Stupid men :p You tell 'em, Amy. ;)

Amy's just too cool.

Even if this video is old, i'd never seen it before, I think it's good to bring it back and remind everyone of the no-**** attitude that Amy has, and that it is perfectly acceptable for her to reject him like that without being labelled a bitch. There aren't enough females in pop-culture these days like that.

Ordinarily, I wouldn't like the term "**** You, Pal," but when it is coming from Amy in that kind of a situation, it is undoubtedly the best phrase in the world.

Ok, I have never seen this video so I'm glad it was posted. That is seriously the funniest thing I've seen / heard all week! I think the "**** you, pal," is my quote of the week. ;) Yeah, I'm kind of fighting a cold (really bad timing, since I'm supposed to be going to Toronto tomorrow) so this was a pick-me-up. Thanks again for posting - it really made my day!

Huh...I can only find one song from that performance now, Farther Away.

If anyone is better than I am at searching, the concert that happened at was the Astoria in London, I believe, in 2003. And I'm pretty sure the song that came either before or after it was Even In Death.

I used to have the full concert but I don't anymore :(

EDIT: Ohhh never mind! This video has it, way at the end after the song. I guess the video I'd seen before had cut it so it was with EID afterwards.

Katya

It's hard to hear. But if you listen a couple of times you'll hear the guy yell out something like "HEY...TAKE OFF YOUR/THAT [something]." It's hard to discern, but the "take off" part is clear. He was near the front and the camera guy was up in the back, so that's probably why...clearly, he was heard very well from the stage. :p

Dammit- why do all the negative responses and pricks saying 'take your shirt off' come from the UK? No wonder they rarely tour here!:(

Anyway, i'm not too sure about the download performance, to me she seems so intimidated by the crowd so is really trying hard to win them over- her body language and words show this so much and she uses loadsa techniques to try to win over the audience. I'm not going to go into them all now because i don't want to bore you, but i really don't believe the whole 'she's drunk' thing. It's nerves and intimidation, due to Download's reputation and the fact that the audience is probably made mostly of Iron Maiden fans.
However, this is only my opinion and i could be wrong...

Except she said in an interview afterwards that she WAS drunk during that set. ;) I'll try to find it if you like.

Yeah i think i've seen that interview, but that's the perfect excuse to cover up intimidation or nerves.

And if she was drunk, yeah, it's funny to be drunk and a great laugh sometimes, but when you're performing infront of thousands of people who have paid a hell of a lot of money to go and see you, that's just unprofessional. To me it just shows little respect for the fans if she knowingly was drunk and didn't do her job properly.
Feel free to disagree, but that's what i believe.

Yeah i think i've seen that interview, but that's the perfect excuse to cover up intimidation or nerves.

Even if she was drunk, I think she still put on a pretty good show. I would have loved to have been there. Also, look at how many people are in the audience... I'd have to be drunk to get up in front of that many people, too.

Footballers play infront of loadsa people, Politicians make speeches infront of loadsa people, olympic atheletes compete infront of loadsa people, tv presenters present for millions of people, they don't get drunk while they're doing their jobs because it'd be unprofessional. Her profession is singing and writing, so why should she be able to?
I'm not usually bothered about things like this much, but for this i suppose i'm just disappointed in her. I thought she had standards for example the whole not taking her clothes off just to sell records. I respect her for that.. but after this...
I'm not trying to cause conflict or heated debates about this, i just feel i need to say this.

^except that you can't really compare the standards politicians and "TV presenters" are held to to those of a rock star. All those groups you named have their own issues that many view as unbecoming of someone in their field (scandals, drug use, etc.) You think Amy is the first musician to perform in an altered mind state? I'm surprised that's about the only show she's been noticeably drunk in.

She was opening for IRON F'ING MAIDEN... let her have her jello shots <3.

Exactly. I was going to write something like that, but I wouldn't have put it better. Besides, most of those people are infront of a camera (press, media, international t.v, etc.; not just petty(sp?) little interviews) WAYYYYY more often than her, so they have practice, she doesn't.;)

Haha, that last line is just priceless! AHHHHHhahahahaha!:D :p :)

Usually i hate people who complain and spoil fun, however for some reason i feel like i need to say this. I just feel disappointed that if music is something she loves, then surely she'd know she couldn't give her best performance drunk. If i was able to do something i really loved for a living, i'd want to do my best. And i still think that it's a lack of respect for the audience who love her work, to see her not giving it her best!
As for the example about other professions, it's not the fact about the situations they're in, it's the moral fact, the responsibility, and the message it sends out.
I'd be a hypocrit (sp?) if i said 'don't get drunk', but it's the situation, the responsibility infront of all her fans. Feel free to say 'get a life' to me as in some ways its not a big deal and i see that, but i can't ignore how i really feel about this.

Most of the other's are crooked, so they don't really send that message out. Why would they want to? What you don't know won't hurt you.;)

Besides that could have been the first and only time she did that.;)

its actually take off your "skirt" And she still said "hey f*ck you, pal!" So it's okay. I believe that after that she mentions the dress not being able to come off...?

She was opening for IRON F'ING MAIDEN... let her have her jello shots <3. *flash back to Anywhere But Home*

Although, I do agree with CheshireCat in that Amy should wait until after the show to get her shots. But then again, I'd have to be compLETEly hammered to play in front of that many people, so... I'm on the fence! (just like the respectable politicians who don't get drunk on camera! lol)

SpiritHawk7

I can see what you're sayng and i must sound like a right idiot for making this into such a big thing! But all i'm saying is that i'm disappointed in her... i guess i've appreciated her work for years now and to see such a lack of responsibility is strange. And she's always come across as such a strong person, so to see her tainted by alcohol is sad. I sound so naive!

That's okay. People have flaws, that's what make them human. Nobody's perfect, and if they were they would be an anomaly(sp?), which is a flaw in itself.;)

Hmm...I can't hear the "take off your shirt" bit but I do hear Amy clearly saying "**** you pal." I'll watch it at a louder volume at home...."**** you pal" and "take your shirt off" are not good things to be blasting at a CONSERVATIVE news/talk radio station....which is the studio I am in right now. :p
