Nope. Amy actually posted on EvBoard a while ago about her hair because there was this HUGE thread on it lol. Here's her post (http://www.evboard.com/showthread.php?p=562526#post562526), but she basically just says what she does to it and also says that no extensions or anything are involved.

I like the partial Gibson-girl style that she wore for some of the recent photoshoots (where half her hair is up in a pouf and the other half is down). I think it's really fun, and I do that with my own hair sometimes...but I can't get a hugeass pouf like that lol. I really like it down, though, I have to say. But hey, it's her hair and Beth always makes it look good, so whatever she does with it is fine with me.

I've always been very careful to be a respectful fan who is more curious about the origins of the music than Amy's hair. However, I recently had a total n00b moment at my first Ev concert. The first thought in my head when seeing Amy on stage in front of me was, "Wow, I wonder how she gets her hair so silky smooth." :p

It kinda looks like Amy's hair is brown in the AOL sessions pic that shows the back of her head -- did she dye her hair or is it just the lighting?

SpiritHawk7
11-17-2006, 04:37 PM
I liked Amy's hair when she was at the 2006 VMA's

Amy dyes her hair black. She said that in an interview that it hasn't been her natural color in a long time.
In the Born to Be episode on Much Music, about 3 min 33 sec into, you see two pictures of Amy in her high school year book.
Her hair is light brown to almost blonde(dreamchaser_83 has the pix in earlier post on pg 4). But a couple seconds later you see it as a darker medium brown. That might be her natural hair color. I don't think it matters about the color of her hair, just the fact that it looks great!

silver_mist25
11-17-2006, 04:39 PM
Amy's natural hair color is more of a medium brown anyway, so I don't think it matters if her hair is currently black or dark brown? But you're right, her hair does look brown instead of black in the picture.

My hair is really long too, down to my waist. But it's really thin. It pisses me off so much. Amy's looks so thick. Why can't I have Amy hair? Why?

Anyways, I like the bouffant style ones of late. The whole big fat bit on the top. hehe, I've tried, and it so didn't work.
And the Malice In Wonderland one. Tried it too. Nah, did not work at all.
And, of course, My Immortal hair. Sooo jealous.

QUOTE]

My hair is natuarly like really curly...and when I'm in the mood to have really loose just tamed curls...all I do. Is first you wet your hair...then you spray this product called Cat's walk Curls Rock it looks like this.
http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B0002V31AS.01-A3JHT1U3QMO9EG._SCMZZZZZZZ_V1116872430_.jpg
Its a spray...so you spray that into your wet hair...then you take a chuck of hair and twist it. Do that for your whole head.
After that is done spray more of the catwalk all over your twisted hair. And then after that put in some Curl Amplifier...that's also from the Cat's walk line
It looks like this
http://ec3.images-amazon.com/images/P/B000EYPCH8.01-A3JVDWO73DMQMO._SCMZZZZZZZ_V57125509_.jpg

After you do that retwist the hair that came untwisted while putting in the amplifier.
And then put in some waterwax or whatever you used to get rid of frizzies.
And lastly spray on some hair spray and let your hair dry and it comes out looking like Amy's from My Immortal.

****Maybe it's just me since my hairs already naturaly curly. The products I just mentioned only help to tame my beastly curls. :)

I really like her hair in the going under and my immortal videos. Mainly because i can't do ANYTHING with my hair, and i WISH i could!!!!! My hair stays straight no matter what i do, we've tried everything. One time, i put an entire bottle of hairspray on my hair when i curled it and literally in 5mins...it was completely straight again.

So yeah i wish my hair could do something and thats why her hair rocks in those vids!!!

Haha. I wonder if Amy finds it weird that her fans are so adamant on discussing her hair? :p

I'm pretty obsessed with straight hair, so I love Amy's hair when it's straight. Also I love it in the CMWYS video clip when it's down. She looks really good with that 'kinda wavy' hair. And, for some reason, I think she really looks good with curly blonde hair, a la Everybody's Fool video clip. Is that disturbing? Haha. And in the Going Under video clip, the ponytail is just so perfect looking! Heck, her hair just looks good all the time. I've always been jealous of her hair.

Note: I just looked over at the TV, and there's this girl on there dressed as Snow White, singing.. Man, is that freakishly coincidental, or what? I mean, I'm on EvThreads.. And Amy's name on EvThreads is Snow White.. And there's a girl on TV dressed as Snow White.. Singing.. Freeekay.

well if you want tips on how to manage your hair like amy's this is an old post from evboard.

10/13/2004

okay, I can't believe I'm being the expert hair consultant here, but I just can't believe you guys really think I have straight hair! My natural hair is like in the my immortal video. I know how frustrating it is to get your hair really really straight, and I'm kindof obsessed with japanese fashion, so after trying lots of different methods over the years, this is what Beth and I have discovered works best on my frizzy, kinky, Janis Joplin hair:

I shampoo and condition with goldwell kerasilk (get it at a salon). Its awesome and keeps it really shiny and healthy. If you cant afford this, dont worry. The styling part makes more of a difference than the washing part (dont tell beth I said that!!) Then I either blowdry it (which on my hair takes too long and my arm feels like its going to fall off) or just let it dry naturally. Then, I straighten it with a "chi" flat-iron. Before I straighten each section, I spray it with the most awesome product in the world of straight hair, the one thing i cant live without! - sebastian "laminates". It's a straightening hairspray. DO NOT FEAR THE WORD HAIRSPRAY! It doesnt make your hair sticky and stiff. It makes it silky soft when the heat of the iron activates it. just dont forget to brush after ironing the piece (its crispy at first). So with each piece, comb, spray, iron, comb. Thats it. No leave ins, pommade, or dear god- extentions. God i sound like an infomercial! I guess through having long hair for so long Ive learned alot. *sigh* you boys wouldnt understand this but frizzy hair sucks... especially when its like, three feet long.
love,
a totally sissy girlygirl who will probably get picked on for this post,
amy

ps- chi irons may be stylist only, if you cant get one or get someone at a salon to order one for you, just get the hottest straightening iron you can find. careful you dont fry your hair!

..Lithium..

Thats basically what I do with my hair. I know how Amy feels with the curly frizzy hair... and I thank god for whoever created the straightner.

You say you want it to look like hers, but in what way? Do you want it cut like hers so it can be styled similarly, or are there specific ways she wears it that you're wanting to try and need reference images for? If it's the overall cut you're going for, I THINK, based on what I've seen, that she's got an angled cut similar to how I had mine done a few years back. It's fairly simple to have done, and it's great for helping with breakage in the front for long hair or for bangs growing out. Once it's done (I'd definitely go somewhere the first time if this is what you're wanting), it's also pretty easy to maintain as far as trimming and whatnot. It'll almost look layered in the front, though it's not, and be even in the back. Hope this helps some. I'll watch the thread for when you post more info and see if I can help find pics to help you find what you're wanting. :)

definitely invest in a good hair straightener which you can also use to make curls (if the plates are about an inch wide with rounded sides e.g. GHD) like this:
http://evanescence.joueb.com/images/118555.jpg

I love how Amy styles her hair in the videos but i can imagine it must take her stylist forever to do it given the length :p

I love her hair in the Lithium video - i think that has to be my fav :)

Here's an idea. Really high pig tails. I think I read somewhere that if you see Amy in pigtails it means she's in a crazy, odd mood. Awesome :P

Ugh, my hair barely grows past shoulder length. It ends up in crap condition by that length so it doesn't grow. Then I need a few inches off so it's all in good shape. Takes a while for it to get back to where I strated. Damn. I need to borrow someones (i.e. Amy's) hair ASAP :P

She's right. The Chi is awesome. Mine is broken and I still use it, it's that good. One of the plates came loose and flops up and down so I just make sure it's stuck inside before I put my hair in it. Damn thing cost like $130, too.

Yeah, same here. i have a little longer than shoulder length red hair. Extremely frizzy in the morning, extremely kinky, and usually extremely knotty. So, naturally it requires styling. My recommendation is this spray called "ion" something or other. It works by taking the static out of your hair and making it smoother. I find it's great to spray in after you've woken up with bedhead, and it brings out the natural style of your hair.

Katya

Mine is getting pretty long. It's only a couple of inches above my waistline now. :) I'm growing it out longer so I can cut it for Locks of Love and still have hair left over (i.e. not too short, because last time I did that, it drove me crazy).

I don't think I could deal with hair as long as Amy's if it was that thick. Yeesh. Talk about a crapload of hair to take care of LOL. I'd need someone like Beth to help me out ;)

amy_lee_fan94
03-29-2007, 05:09 PM
I think that my hair is a little bit longer than Amy's is.I love my hair even though I have to brush it a lot.I'm 2 inches shorter than than Amy but my hair is like an inch past my butt so that's how I know that my hair is longer than hers and I refuse to get a haircut unless it's just a trim.

My hair is black and about waist-length...it's a bit shorter than Amy's, and it's not as thick as hers. But I wear it straight (yay for CHI flat irons!), and I often put it in pigtails or try out random wacky hairdos, and I've gotten several comments that it looks similar to Amy's hair.

I've heard a lot of people saying that long hair is hard to take care of, but I've never really had a problem with it. I get it trimmed every 2 months or so, touch up my roots as they grow out, and make sure I deep condition at least twice a week. I do have a problem with breakage, though, which is probably due to constantly straightening it. I imagine that as it gets even longer (I want to grow it another 5 inches or so), it will get harder to take care of.

My mom got me that kerasilk goldwell, sabastian laminates, and a chi flat iron and they work wonders!!!! I did what Amy said to do and watched what Beth did on ABH, cause in reality, Beth is my idol and it was so cool cause I had like a 5 min long conversation with her cousin at council bluffs, anywho...that stuff works wonders and my hair is very very thick and extremly curly, just like Amy's in MI and its just about as long as Amys and it only takes like 45-55 min whereas it used to take me and hour and 15 or 20 min. I worship those products!!

My Hair used to be about two and a half feet long, but I cut it a few years ago, and now it just about drives me crazy having short hair, and it isn`t growing back very fast. I don`t use anything whatsoever on it, but a small handful of mousse every morning to keep the frizz down. It`s a few inches past my shoulders, and when I let it out (it`s always braided) it poofs outwards and makes me look like I`m trying to grow an afro. Anyway, Amy`s hair is awesome. It must take them hours to do it. If you want your hair to look like Amy`s, I think it would be best to go with the long, straight look.

the chi iron will set you back the most.

try checkin out amazon. some run fround aroun 75 to 125 bucks. depends on the style, brand and size

same goes for the hairspray and shampoo/conditioner.

the price depends on the size of the bottle

for a 32 oz thing of shampoo it's about 23 bucks
32 oz conditioner about 25

the hairspray is the cheapest... around 13 bucks or so.

all those prices are based on whats available on amazon

shop around and you might find some stuff for cheaper.

Research more into other companies- LOL is not a good organization. I can give you more info if you want, (through pm probably- kind of off topic from this thread).

My friend actually told me today that the Flintstones gummy vitamins contain a high amount of a certain supplement that promotes hair growth. It makes your hair grow faster and better, apparently.

I've actually heard that there is no "miracle" vitamin or treatment that will make your hair grow faster. Hair grows at around half an inch each month, if I remember correctly, and while it'll slow down when you get split ends and breakages, it won't speed up.

I could be wrong, but that's essentially what I've heard.

This is true. Although if you are not getting proper nutrition, your hair may not grow to it's full potential. So by taking vitamins (and therefore proper nutrition), you may get a bit more growth.

Prenatal vitamins = TEH **** when it comes to making hair grow. Also works for making nails grow. When I was pregnant with my son, my hair grew about 4 inches in the last 3 months I was pregnant. I'm still taking prenatal vitamins, 2 years later. Love, love, LOVE them.

I've heard that if you want your hair to grow quicker, you need to cut it more often. Only get maybe a couple of centimetres cut off, and do this often. It'll make your hair grow quicker.

Tht is an absloute lie...I went to hair school, trust me I KNOW. It will not work. The only reason people say that is because once you get your hair cut the ends of our hair are strait insead of jagged and this makes it look longer and even thicker, but the truth is the more often you cut your hair, the longer it will take to grow it out. Your hair only grows about an inch and a half per month (that's only a average, some does grow slower and some faster but not by much) even cutting of a few centimeters a month inhibits the growth plus the more you cu yorhair the weaker it can become. Your best bet is to keep it clan and use a hair strengthing shampoo (or buy this wondrful product from joico called reconstructor, you smooth it on twice a week between shampoo and conditioner, leave it on for 5 minutes and it adds hair protein into your hair ).....if your hair is weak it'll break off easier and this too will keep it from growing.

Not really, no. Your hair grows as fast as it can on it's own, there really is no way to speed it up. If you've got short hair and want it long, you can either get extentions or just wait until it grows to the length you want it. though to give an example of how short a time it can take (really it doesn't take a long in retrospect, it only seems so because most people [me included] want it long and they want it long NOW), one of my instructors (he's a he) has really really short hair (I mean like less than inch long) He stopped cutting it for two years and in that two yeas it grew down to the middle of his back/almost to his waist. (he grew it out then chopped it al off for locks of love)

If you aren't growing your hair out (you're happy with the length it is now) then Ideally you want to get it trimmed every 6 weeks to keep it healthy (that's 1 1/2 months aprox.) If you are working on growing it out, every 3 or so months is fine, just don't cut more than an inch otherwise it's like two steps forward-one step back. it's best to leave the split ends until it's as long as you like, then start trimming them off every so often, a few split ends aren't that bad, and if yor hair splits like some fat kid's pants, you're hair is too dry and/or weak so try a moistureizing shampoo and conditioner, or get that reconstuctor I mentioned earlier....$25 (you can in it for $18 somewhere but I forget where) a bottle, but it lasts forever, and it's well worth it...I swear by that stuff, I love it so much.

well if you want tips on how to manage your hair like amy's this is an old post from evboard.

10/13/2004

okay, I can't believe I'm being the expert hair consultant here, but I just can't believe you guys really think I have straight hair!

*sigh* you boys wouldnt understand this but frizzy hair sucks... especially when its like, three feet long.
love,
a totally sissy girlygirl who will probably get picked on for this post,
amy

ps- chi irons may be stylist only, if you cant get one or get someone at a salon to order one for you, just get the hottest straightening iron you can find. careful you dont fry your hair!

amy is so cool for putting telling us her secrets! my hair is nearly as long as hers now, but she doesnt answer the one question im dying to know...how often does she have to dye it? my natural hair colour is similar to amys and i have to dye it every three weeks to keep the blonde roots at bay, otherwise i look like im going bold!! also, she says in this she doesnt use extensions, but in the behind the scences footage from sweet sacrifice beth is shown putting extensions in! so i think she must wear them now, for photoshoots and some videos!
i agree with her. frizzy hair sucks! and having your hair long atkes a lot of time and dedication! i just bought some extensions for mine to make it look fuller as im not as lucky as amy and have quite fine hair!!!

Yeah, go ahead and wait, then when you go in to get it trimmed, just let the stylist know you don't want too much cut off, becuase you like the length it is....It really, really helps if you go to the same stylist every time becuase then they know exactly what's up with your hair and what you want to achive with it so they can be super helpful and give you suggestions.

I love Amy's hair! My natural hair colour is dark brown, but I dyed it black about 3 months ago. It's kind of growing out now, but it looks like I've got dark brown highlights and blends together so well. I was afraid it would look like crap, but it doesn't. I used to hate long hair, but then I became aware of Amy and suddenly I wanted it long! Now it's really long (it took me almost 2 years to get where it is now). thankyou.
thats helps in my decision.

The moral: Patience, patience, and MORE patience, lol. :D

hey dude! not being funny but you stole my pic...and just incase you didnt realise...thats a pic of me and not amy, so i find it a little wierd its your signature....flatered, but wierd

Hey guys,
well, I donīt know if anyone asked such a question yet, but lately I saw some pictures of little Amy on a German fansite www.amy-lee.de . She was pretty cute so far, with maybe ten years, but her hair...it was blonde! I was pretty confused and so I dare asking it... do you know if she colors her wonderful, black hair?

Her natural hair color is kinda blondish brown with reddish highlights. Her senior pic was floating around sometime ago and also some family released photos on the Evboard. I think she also addressed this same question ALONG time ago on Evboard too.:D

She had almost blonde hair when she was little but looking at later photos it darkened up a bit like a lot of little blondes do when they get older.

I'm quite lucky to have hair that can be straightened with just a hair dryer (from wet of course) if I leave it to dry on it's own, I get the most awful curls and kinks.

Anyways, I'm also trying to grow my hair long - but not because of Amy. I've been trying for a long time, but unfortunately I've given in a couple of times through impatience and now I'm paying the price for it (I would've had the length I'm after if I'd left the bloody thing alone!) Anyways, my hair is quite slow growing and so I have it cut about once every 5-6 months. It's a long time to go without a trim, I know, but if I have it done more than that, I won't be getting anywhere :(

To keep my hair nice and manageable, I use the Herbal Esscences shampoo and conditioner everyday. And I mostly leave my hair down to avoid putting any strain on it and breaking it (though work requires me to tie my hair back - blasted people)

I did want to dye my hair dark brown, but I hate it when the roots come through and I couldn't be asked to fork out money each month to redo them :( I think I'm gonna go and kidnapp Beth, who's with me?!

Without blowdrying, my hair has issues deciding whether it wants to be wavy or not. That = superfrizz. So I blow my hair dry and it's pretty straight afterwards.

I've been growing my hair long again ever since I cut it three years ago for Locks of Love. It's just about down to where I used to have it...I want to cut it again for a similar charity, but I want it to be longer so I can have more hair left over this time lol. I like long hair...it's just a hassle to take care of all the time. I also want to go darker, EmptyChild, but like you, I don't feel like paying to keep it up. Woo college budgets. ;) Haha.

Mmm, I think it's great how hair grows 'cause you can have it cut as often as you like and it's always going to grow back. It's just hell on dyed hair. I swear scientists need to bring out something genetically engineered to change hair colour, that'd be awesome.

Mind you, I was blonde when I was younger (like my dad, whose hair is now a really dark brown) so hopefully in a few more years I won't need to dye it XD

box dye isnt so expensive, it just isnt as good for your hair than getting it professionally dyed. not to mention they do a better job than you normally would.

the past two times i dyed my hair, i did it myself. the second time i had my roommate help though and i didnt miss any spots, or if i did they are tiny and you cant tell.

ive always had relatively long hair, except 2 years ago i cut it just below the shoulders. thats as short as i go.

my hair is naturally poofy/frizzy and wavy. if i ever want it curly, i just have to put curl enhancing gels/mousse in it.

my hair is naturally dark brown but i went black back in february. box dye, depending on the brand, runs me about 10 to 13 a box. one box just barely dyes all my hair.

so if you wanna dye it, try the box dye. you only need to dye it, at max, once every three months. so 10 to 13 bucks every three months is managable, even on a college budget.

definitely invest in a good hair straightener which you can also use to make curls (if the plates are about an inch wide with rounded sides e.g. GHD) like this:

I'm really wary of box dye...haha my friend experimented with a few types in high school and I have seen them come out both horribly wrong and really awesome. In particular, I remember a supposed light auburn that came out orange and faded to a pretty strawberry blonde...but she was rather orange for a few days lol and the color didn't even come close to what she wanted it to be. I don't trust myself with that stuff and I don't feel like looking awful for a few days if I do it wrong.

So thanks Tara :) But I think I might stay away from the box dyes.

hey i used to get the hairdresser to dye mine too, but as im a student its way too much for my budget so i dye it myself at home!!
and my hair is really long! best advice is always do an allergy test, follow the inststructions well, seperate your hair into 4 sections and start with the bottom sections, put lots of vaseline around your hairline, on your neck etc cos you will get messy...oh and what i do, dont laugh, is put cling film over my ears, not the best look but neither is having grey ears for a week!!
oh also try and get it so you have a mirror both infront and behind you, that way you can see the back of your head and make sure you protect everything! cos that shizz is messy!!!!!!

Like Amy, I have naturally thick hair and its never straight (not even after blow drying) unless I straighten it. To straighten I use GHD irons, they cost a lot but they are my sister's (lol), still, they are worth every penny. Before I straighten it, I separate my hair into 3 layers, the underneath layer, middle layer and top layer (its not as confusing as it sounds, and its more effective and doesn't take very long). I spray a layer with GHD hairspray which softens the hair and protects it from 'frying'. then I brush it through and quickly straighten that part before the spray dries. I repeat with each layer. It works like magic, especially for extremely thick and wavy/out of place hair. I let my hair dry naturally, instad of blow drying because, like Amy said, it makes my arms hurt like hell.

I feel you. I want to dye my hair, but last time I tried with a box my hair wound up this nasty brownish brassy color... and it faded to an even worse color really fast. A few months before that I got it done at a salon with AWESOME results, it just cost a LOT and I, too, can't afford that on a college budget.

Thanks, that's really helpful because my hair is SO thick, that's all I ever hear about when I go get my hair done... and it's curly. SO normally it takes a TON to straighten it and even then it's not great.

AND finally, I'm thinking of going really dark... like black or near black... but I'm worried about getting tan this summer. I mean, I don't go to a tanning bed or anything but I get fairly dark just being outside, I'm afraid it'll make the black look really unnatural. Any comments?

hmm ive never had a problem with hair dye. then again, i was going from dark brown to black.

the worst thing that happened was my mom dyed it and missed a huuuuge spot. that was a pain.

yeah i dont blowdry my hair either because my hairs would be killing me and it doesnt get straight from it anyway. it's wavy and frizzy if i blow dry it so id have to straighten it anyway. so i figure i wont double fry my hair.

Haha yea. My life advice for the masses:

DON'T DO BOX DYES.

I used to dye my hair myself all of the time. Yea, it looked great, but when I decided I wanted my natural hair colour dyed back professionally, the colour I had in WOULD NOT COME OUT even after bleaching my hair. It took THREE HOURS and ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY DOLLARS to get my hair from a box red back to a normal honey brown. =|

Me too, I have dyed my hair with box dyes I buy from Wal-mart and I have been pleased with all the results. Except for this last time was because my friend messed it up and my roots were a different color but she didnt get the rest of my hair, so I went back and bought a new box and did it myself.

Same here. I've been dyeing my hair for about 10 years with no real issues. Also, there is a thing about red dyes. It doesn't matter if it's from a box or done at a salon: They will ALWAYS fade the worst of all colors and will ALWAYS be the absolute hardest to change. The next dye used over it will fade into a reddish shade. The least damaging way I've found to fix it is to alternate between light brown and blonde dyes the next three or four times it needs to be done, and that gets it back to my natural in-between-blonde-and-brown color without any red tints to it. *shrugs*

What type of box dye do you use? I'm just afraid of getting that black that's kind of a nasty fake looking black, you know? I don't know how to describe it, there is just a certain shade/kind that looks fake on most people. But judging by your little avatar pic your hair looks nice. :)

a lot of boxes will show you what itll look like depending on your starting color.

im not expert on this but i was lucky as far as going black was concerned because my hair is naturally dark. hell, my eyebrows are black but my hair was dark brown. so when i went black, if people didnt know my natural hair color was brown, they didnt question the black hair.

Hiya, the whole split hair thing is a myth by the way, hair grows from the root not the bottom so having split ends or damaged ends won't stop your hair growing, the hair growing from the root will not know whether the hair is split or not it grows about 1 cm to an inch- depending on your hair- every month.

Whilst hair with split ends will continue grow it can look fuzzy and damaged so it's best to get a rim every six weeks, although if your hair grows say an inch every month and you have an inch chopped off it's not going to grow, so have half an inch trimmed off for example. :)

LadyChaos
05-07-2007, 09:30 PM
It's an inch AND a half per month on average not half an inch...some grows slower than that...some faster. The split end thing is a myth as dandelion said. and hair is DEAD! well at least all the hair you see....your hair is only "alive" while it is inside your scalp so anyone telling you to cut off all the "dead" hair is basically telling you to shave your head. the only danger to your hair growth that split ends cause is breakage. of course if pieces of your hair break off the hair is then shorter than it was so mae sure your hair (concentrate mainly on your scalp, since that's where your growing hair will bennifit most) gets enough moisture and protein and you'll be good!
