Hey guys, one question posed to me is one i thought would make a good thread topic:
Which EV song holds the most meaning for you?
My Answer: Everybodys Fool
Everybodys foo,l holds alot of meaning and power for me, when, sometimes in our lives we become someone that we're not. for one reason or another, my story is i enlisted (joined the army) and was forced to become someone i didnt want to be, the internal struggles of our lives define who we are, and being aware of who you are, not who you pretend to be........makes the difference between life and death.
P.s i have listed this question inder the "ask evanescemce" section of the forums, hopefully we get an answer from the guys.

"Imaginary" and "All That I'm Living For" are probably the ones I relate to the most right now. I'm a very idealistic and imaginative person actually. I kind of live in my own little fairytale in an attempt to make some of reality a little easier to deal with... and it works! I'm actually quite a content and organized person for the most part even with my idealistic ways. :)
I can also relate to "The Only One" when I feel alone in the world.

'Tourniquet' and 'Missing' are one's I relate to 100%. 'Missing' mainly because when my parents first split 2 years ago, my mum and I moved from my town to Perth 4 days later, and I had to leave all my friends and family behind, and I was always close to my dad so it hurt me so much leaving him. Then he went through a stage for about a year where he wouldn't talk to me, everytime I'd go to visit him he'd reject me, so I stopped visitng, and then 'Missing' got released on Anywhere But Home a few months later and I just cried when I heard it. I always think of dad and my family when that song is played. That song for me is my thoughts, to my family.
And I relate to 'Tourniquet' in other reasons, but I won't go into them.

i think all ev songs hold some kind of special meaning... some a little more than others, but i think that's one of the many reasons why i like ev so much, the fact that every song means something and they're all special in their own way...

Missing, represents one part of my darkness life.
Tourniquet, Means part of my relationship with God
Bring me to life, it represents evanescence for me it wasn't the first song that I listen but I don't know why I love it so much
Where will you go, represents my life right now
The Only One, means that search for God that I am

All that Im Living For- cause right now im in a position where everyone around me expects a lot from me, and so do i, im really close to my dreams right now and to my own expectations that im almost forgetting all other things.
Imaginary- cause im always out of reality and i always make my way of things in my mind even if not in the real life, i always escape from reality in that way
Fields of Innocence- cause i actually had one of the best childhoods and now i think that all good things from that times are disapearing right now and i feel that i cant do anything to save them.
and also a lot that i dont want to say why

That's how I feel too. I can relate to each and every song, even if it's only one sentence. All the songs are special to me and I could never favor one over the other. Right now, though, "Lithium" is my song. Just wow. I guess I could say that the chorus is the story of my life. And "Good Enough." That's where I want to be someday - I want to open that door and see what Amy's talking about. I had it on repeat today. :p
All the songs are very inspiring to me. So far, I've been able to write things inspired by and related to "Lithium," "Sweet Sacrifice," "CMWYS" and "Snow White Queen." Most of the things I've written recently are things that I've wanted to get off my chest for so long. Amy is right - writing really is like therapy. It's been releasing some of the thoughts that are cluttered up in mind. And it's all been written from inspiration from TOD - kinda like my muse - and I have Amy to thank for that. <3
Sweet Sacrifice,Lacrymosa, and TLSIWOY and currently Good Enough. I explained this in a different thread lol but I'll explain again.
SS, Lac + TLSIWOY are basically how I feel about my "best friend" from school, I always felt like I had to be someone I'm not and she always made me feel like I was worthless, yet whenever she needed someone to talk to I'd always be there but she just threw it back in my face all the time, after she was feeling better. Last year I'm not joking, practically ALL of my friends turned on me coz of her and I felt really down. hence those songs.
Now I'm in college and have a new group of friends who have similar interests and are a lot more mature and we have a great time. I am being myself and I've never been happier :) hence Good Enough :p
Thats why I like TOD, I can relate a lot more to these songs than i could from Fallen (with the exception of EF - another that reminds me of her from school, but now I just laugh about how pathetic she still is.)

Tourniquet. I can't count the amount of times I've cried when I heard that song. It's the whole "Christ, Tourniquet, My Suicide" bit, makes me feel depressed :'(

I can pick two songs that have great meaning to me. I can choose one from Fallen and one from The Open Door. The first song from Fallen would have to be "Everybody's Fool" because ever since I started the 6th grade my life has been nothing but lies on lies. I had to hide who I really was, I coudnt just come out and say "I'm Gay" I had to make everyone think I was normal. But now that I dont care what people think of me I could care less if everyone knows.
The second one from The Open Door would have to be "The Only One" because it seems like all we do our whole lives is wait for someone to come alone and help us and be our "leader" but then it turns out that they are far from perfect and you see who they truly are and you see that everything they told you was a lie.
These are my personal opinions and if you disagree with them please keep it to yourself if you agree with them then please feel free to post a reply to me. Thanks

and the second part it's completely true!;)

haha, that's an easy question to answer...
it's definite "imaginary". there's no second song in the world i can identify in the way i do with "imaginary". i cried, when i heared it for the first time, it's like that i have written every word... i think i was 7, when i started to build a dream world, to escape my own world i hate so much... i always tought that nobody would understand it and then there was "imaginary". so there was amy. she helped me to break free from my isolation, although i still have big problems to trust people.
tow very important songs for me are "bring me to life" and "missing". i'm still looking for someone, who is missing me. so maybe this person will find me and makes me real again...
edit: SweatyPopRocks and YanshU
i agree with you. i think i don't i have to copy it again. i forgot "everybody's fool". my whole life consits of lies as long as i can remember...
i have also the same opinion about "the only one" and "away from me".

For me it is Whisper. That songs sums up exactly how I feel about my life. To me that song is about lonliness which I can so relate to.
I'm now listening to Weight of the World a lot too - it feels a bit like the TOD version of Whisper to me.

Oh so many come to mind but I'll list three. Top three would be missing, the last song I'm wasting on you, and my last breath.

Each Ev song is like a paragraph in a novel to me. There's no individual song with most meaning cuz I think of them all as one long story still being written. All together is how they mean the most to me.

I'd have to say "Imaginary" and "My Immortal".
Imaginary because of my tendency to be within my own thoughts and my own little world and be content with that and My Immortal because of my great-grandparents who passed away years ago. That song put into words how grateful I was for them taking care of me and also how much I still miss them.

wow, every ev song means something to me. but right now lithium and the last song i'm wasting on you mean a lot to me. also weight of the world, because it is so empowering. ahh its a toss up, i love them all! ha ha but those three stick out at this time.

Quite a few songs hold meaning to me someway or another but currently...
BTML since that's the song that made me fall in love with Ev, Sweet Sacrifice because the lyrics are kind of like the words I feel like I can't say to some people who step all over me, Imaginary because I daydream a lot and dream about things in general, and Lithium because I don't feel like I'm control of my life and I really don't know how to take control of my life...

heh, Give Unto Me has the most meaning to me and makes me cry everytime I listen to the dramatic parts. 8|
I'd like to say why it has such meaning to me but it's very personal that I dont even tell my close friends.

Another song I just thought of that I relate to really well lyrically is 'Your Star'. The lyrics just control me, it's what I like to call 'my song'. Infact I've often called 'Missing' my song too for reasons I've already posted, so that's 'Missing', 'Tourniquet' and 'Your Star' that I relate to the best out of Ev songs.

If I had to just pick one, I'd have to say Like You. Although what Amy and I have gone thru is different, it's still the same concept. Amy lost her sister, I lost my mother at age 11. It was tragic and although Amy may be almost 10 years older than me, the meaning behind the song doesn't change anything. Even when I couldn't hear the emotion in Amy's voice in the song, it struck me as an emotional song and it is absolutly amazing. I'm really glad that she wrote that song and decided to put it on the album because it's touched me in so many ways already.

Wow, there's so many...
I would definitely have to say Bring me to life *I've been living a lie ...there's nothing inside*
& Sweet Sacrifice *Fear is only in our minds,Taking over all the time*
and as much as I might not like the song, Lose Control *Just once in my life, I think it'd be nice, Just to lose control, just once *
and of course, Missing is a good one *You won't cry for my absence, I know. You forgot me long ago*

all of the songs mean somthing to me but :
Feilds of innocence - it makes me think of all of the abuse that happened when i was really young and that the person took away my innocence and how when i think about how things could have been if that hadnt happened
everybodys fool becuase i feel like most of my life ive been lieing to everyone i have ever known, including myself but now im more open
and the " you poor sweet innocent thing dry your eyes and testify " line in SS because now i feel like ive broken through and fixed a lot of things in my life but because of the guy that abused me isnt in jail( i never acturly told anyone) i should stop hating myself and testify against him so that hes out of my life (he lives next door to me and i cant do anything about it)
The open door has really inspired me do to alot of writing like Vampyre_Princess said amys write writing really is therapy
For me is Missing, it's say a lot to me.

My immortal. Definetely. This was the first Ev song I've heard. My boyfrend gave it to me. First of all that's when I fell in love with Evanescence. Second, what we've had together was the greatest love story ever. Every single line of the song is about it. Unfortunately he's gone. If I could see him again, I would sing this song to him and it would be powerful.
It changes.
At the moment, Lacrymosa and Lithium.

My Last Breath
Everything about this song gives me chills. I could go on forever and practically write a book about how much this song means to me.
It touches on how I wonder how this entire world works: what we live for, what we die for, how we know our purpose and when we know we’ve done enough. How do we feel the energy of others, or of God? Where do we feel it inside ourselves? When is it okay to be content with death?
This song means so much to me.
Breathe No More
For a very dark, upsetting reason that I won’t go into on this forum, this song has made a huge mark on my life.

lithium lyrics i can relate to
and the only one.
I've had some sour people come into my life.
and i guess this song is my words for people who are so caught up hanging off other people that they can't live for themselves, and when they lose that comfort they run back to me as if I'm a back up plan.
I always feel like the people around me need to follow someone and they can't live for themselves.
yet they look at me like I am nothing because I don't follow behind people.
but at the end of the day i can say that I am me and they can't figure out if they are themselves or someone else

Lithium, because I want to be happy but at the same time afraid of letting go of my sadness.
Tourniquet, because I've been there before, so desperate that death could be the only solution.
Currently, Solitude, because I'm falling fast for a girl who is one of my closest friends. She's got a boyfriend and completely in love with him.
Following that, Even In Death and Anywhere, for reasons that are pretty much obvious.
Fields of Innocence, without a doubt. Describes my feelings on life in general.
..Lithium..

Forgive Me
My boyfriend and I were fighting one day and I asked him to listen to the song and I told him that I was sorry. After he came up to me and just hugged me and cuddled with me .... :)
The Last Song I'm Wasting On You
One of my best friedns fell out with me for no reason and she still hates me and I have done nothing wrong. She then started making up a load of things like that I was selfish etc and I just canceled her out of my life. Everytime I hear the song it reminds me of her, but I realised I don't care what she thinks or whatever, shes not going to pull me down.
The lyrics I most releate to from the song are these.
'Hate me, if it feels good, I can't hear your screams anymore'
Birgitta

There are a lot of Evanescence songs that hold a very deep meaning with me.
The main ones are Hello, My Immortal, Lithium, Like You, The Last Song I'm Wasting On You and Understanding. Most of those are about an intense and dramatic relationship I was in a few years back, but has had a big effect on me.
Haunted, Breathe No More, Tourniquet, Imaginary and Missing are all pretty special to me too.

TLSIWOY...because I was at a point where everything I wrote was always about one person, and I got tired of it.
Lithium...I've always been scared to be happy, and always looked at happiness as a negative thing.
So Close...I don't really know why but I always feel a special kinda connection with this song.

first off I'd have to say October..the whole song really relates to me, especially "I can't run anymore, I fall before you. Here I am, I have nothing left..Though I've tried to forget, you're all that i am.."..wanting to get away but having nothing left and knowing all i have is a certain person..
id also say imaginary..same idea as countess im an idealist/romanticist and sometimes i just disppaer into my own world when things get bad..or i imagine things turning out differently:)
with all that being said, i think i can relate to a lot more Ev songs, just those two are the ones i have the strongest relation to .

Lithium - My happiness always seemed kinda defeatable.

I would have to say 'My Immortal' right now --- The day of my grandmother's funeral in November, my friends and I were leaving the cemetary after I said my last respects and as soon as we got into his car and turned on the radio - My Immortal was playing.
It threw me and I blarred the song and began singing along and it felt like a weight...I don't even know if that's the right word... had been lifted off of my shoulders --- there's more to the story as well, but, I don't feel like typing it out hahaha.

I guess, all EV songs hold some sort of meaning for me. Even if it's in some small possible way...
For those that hold alot of meaning....
"Hello" and "Like You" will always hold alot of meaning to me (for obvious reasons)

Everybody's fool because for the longest time that was what I was. I was in a relationship that was not good for me at all, and chose to ignore certain things because they where to painful, yet when I finallly realized that I was worth way more then that, he became the fool and I liked that song even more.
I would also have to say Away from me, because for the longest time I was unable to deal with certain events that haunted/consumed my childhood and was trying to lose myself just to forget. So that's why the minute I heard Away from me, I thought wow this song is just like me.
OMG I almost forgot about Snow White Queen, Yhea lets' just say I can reallly really relate to this song!

There are so many. Evanescence has impacted my life so much because with almost every song Amy writes, I feel like she's looking right into my mind and stealing my thoughts.
Recently, though. I'd say the ones I relate to the most are My Immortal and Missing.

Solitude - its about being in love with a friend, and that can be more painful than being in love with a stranger
Understanding - no matter how much you fight, it won't go away.
there was a thread about which ev songs representing you, that was closed. i don't think that representing and relating is the same. representing is more deeper but what a heck.
well, i can relate to many of ev songs. but which songs representing me that turned to be hard to find.
and it's strange cuz when you're ev fan, how come every song you like don't representing you. it's odd. maybe they don't representing me, i just like em. but at the same time i'm confused cuz i found myself thinking 'how can't i feel that all the songs i like representing me'. and then i found the songs you like you relate to. but only one that i feel representing my me.
Tourniquet.

There are 2 songs that seem to speak to me personally and have actually helped me achieve positive changes in my life.
Bring Me To Life
When this single was released, I was in the midst of severe depression and addiction - I was literally a shell of myself. I saw the video for this song first and was really captured by it. The lyrics seemed to urge me to FIGHT my way out of my self-imposed prison. They also encouraged me to ask for help (something I'm not very good at doing) ;)
I had always been so ambitious in life but during this black time I was a lump - merely existing - so the line "save me from the nothing I’ve become" was especially poignant. I felt like a dead spirit observing the living but unable to join them. "I’ve been sleeping a thousand years it seems, got to open my eyes to everything" and "without a thought without a voice without a soul, don't let me die here, there must be something more" described my sleep-walking existence to a T.
I shared my inner pain with my true love and he was very supportive. He helped me make some big decisions and changes and get on the road to bringing myself back to life. :)
Lithium
When you rejoin the living after hiding so long, it can be a little difficult to adjust, and thoughts of going right back into the dark cave are constant. These lyrics explain how the dark numbness can be a comfort sometimes, but that I really DON'T want to go back to that half-life: "Lithium, I want to stay in love with my sorrow. Oh, but God, I want to let it go." and "Don't want to let it lay me down this time. Drown my will to fly. Here in the darkness I know myself. Can't break free until I let it go. Let me go."

I guess it has to be Your Star...
the lyrics are just amazing. it's about feeling alone, and not wanting to be alone anymore, you want someone to listen to you at some point. That's what I feel about ceratain people. Not everyone, I'm not alone but.. anyway, I don't know I just love that song

This is a very difficult question to answer...
I can't be specific, mostly because I tend to draw something from each EV song at some point -- whether it be the music, the lyrics or (more often), a combination of them both.
At the moment though... I've had a lot of feeling for The Last Song I'm Wasting on You.

THE ONY ONE
cause right now i am going through serious like, not depression, but i feel like i am in this world i dont belong...cause i used to live in chicago, and moved to greece almost 3 and a half years ago..i thought i'd fine a good friend now, wrong! all these girls here are b^^^^es...and it's not till highschool when you understand what they truley are...and right now i feel so alone, i feel so lost like no one understands, cause they dont. they dont know what its like to live somewhere and have your friends and life there and then move some place else, where it's totally different and they just dont give a crud for anyone but their selves...

It has to be Bring Me To Life.
6 years ago I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease. I remember all of the medical tests to find out, then once we knew everything changed. I started to miss more and more school, my friendships were crumbling, and I just couldn't physically & mentally go on any further. I felt betrayed by my own body and that everything was my fault. I remember feeling like nothing, just a shell of my once happy self. I felt so numb to the world, nothing would phase me.
I remember watching a commercial for the Daredevil movie one night. Hearing the song playing in the background sent a shock through my body. I ran to my computer and furiously searched for the band who sang it. I finally downloaded song (omgz illegally) and burned it to a cd. It was the only song on the cd too. That night I put it on repeat and just cried myself to sleep. It made me realize how deep I had gotten into this hole, and that I desperately had to get out. I still listen to the song in a daily basis, just as a reminder.
Others would be TLSIWOY & Missing. Those reasons are too personal for me to post.
The triple threat of EV songs that can make me cry. :p
But currently the EV song that holds the most meaning would be "Cloud Nine". Guess it wasn't real after all..

There would have to be two songs that have the most meaning to me.
Good Enough- because i dont feel like i'm good enough for this one special person.

Definetly the first place goes to Tourniquet. This song says SO much to me and touchs the deepest part of my soul (I don´t have the suicidal interpretation, but is an anguishing interpretation), this song is very special for me.
The second place goes to Field of Innocence.

Tourniquet: Sometimes I thought on commiting suicide (now I don´t), and I always was wondering if I will see God.
Whisper: It represents my thoughts on death and the aforementioned reason. As well as my favourite song.
Missing: Though I don´t like it very much, it represents the loneliness I can fell from my family and friends.

I would Say Tourniquet ,The Only One, Missing , Imaginery
I probally can relate to alot of Ev songs but theese ones are most close.
Tourniquet is deffintley one of my favourites because i can relate to it so much when im depressed or down about my life and im trying to find help with God. The Only One because the song is just amazing and the lyrics can relate to what i feel alot of the time. Missing and Imaginery are just my soulfull songs. I get lost in Imaginery everytime i listen to it and Missing just encloses me when i have the lonliness feeling. All theese songs help me in one way or another:D

"My Immortal" defenately because it's what introduced me to Evanescence and opened up a whole new world for me. Seriously. I believe it is one of the most beautiful songs ever created, even though a lot of people probably disagree with me.
I can relate to "All That I'm Living For" a lot though. Oh, and Lithium too.

"Lithium", "Solitude", "TLSIWOY", and "Understanding" hold the most meaning for me right now. "Your Star", maybe. They all deal with feelings about one specific person.
The story pretty much unfolds once you connect all the songs, but yeah. Basically, I like someone who pretty much hates/never notices/whatever me. And it pretty much kills me, because I sacrificed a lot for my feelings for him.

i can relate to every ev song because the music has its own language that i understand...but in terms of meaning id have to say 'my immortal' and 'like you'.
'like you'-cos i lost my twin brother when we were 6 days old. i survived and he didn't and ive carried alot of guilt and pain over it but im slowly beginning to accept its not my fault and things just happen-and usually for a reason. maybe im meant to do something special someday-so i have to keep going.
'my immortal'-because 4 years ago i lost my soulmate and the love of my life to a tragic accident and i'd emigrated here to nz and felt like id betrayed him somehow. i feel him with me everyday though and he'll always have 'all of me'. =0)
i suppose i gotta say 'even in death' too lol!
now happy songs?...hmm...well i'm waiting on my 'good enough'...and when my best mate called me up totally wasted i said 'girl call me when your'e sober'!!....

Going Under + Weight of the World (and a bit of Lacrymosa)
Going under is a strong and powerful song and it has helped me toughen up and face my demons same with weight of the world
WOTW - Because people always bring back the past me (when i used to start trouble and ruin peoples lives, apparently i caused a girl to get ogoraphobia) and when they do that i feel like becoming who i was just to shut them up and get rid of them, but i never will
Lacrymosa (but only this part)
"i cant change who i am, not this time i wont lie
to keep you near me
and in this short life theres no time to waste on giving up
my love wasnt enough"
because im sick of people trying to make me what they want me to be and im not going to lie to cover up who i am
Your Star
Because in november last year i saw weakness in my mum (which is BIG) when she had a stroke and this song makes me cry when i think about my life without my mum because she thought she was going to die i knew this because she kept tlling me how much she loves me and my sister and my dad and she wants us to be happy, great, now you've made me cry

I think they all hold meaning for me. Thats the reason I like Ev songs. They actually have a purpose. I'm tired of hearing radio songs playing hollow songs over and over again. Simply sounding good doesn't cut it for me anymore. I've grown to appreciate music with deeper thought and meaning. Some are just plainly overdone and boring *cough rap, hip hop cough*

"Everybody's Fool" holds the most meaning for me, because its about how some one can hide behind a something that they aren't. And then hate themselves later for it, because thats not who they really are. I use to do this bit now I show my true self.

Lithium - "i wanna stay in love with my sorrow, but i want to let it go"
missing - "You won't cry for my absence, I know / you forgot me long ago / am I that unimportant? / Am I so insignificant? / Isn't something missing? / Isn't someone missing me?"
bring me to life - "how can you see through my eyes like open doors?"
all that i'm living for - "find the words to make me better / if i only knew...how to pull myself apart" "make me understand the lesson / so i will find myself / so i won't be lost again..."
all those songs connect with each other have a strong meaning to me. i think those songs are self-explanitory for me to not fully explain how they mean to me.

all that i'm living for
i have always loved evanescence, i have always been able to relate to their music. but this song just hits me so hard everytime i hear it. i know they had something else in mind when they wrote it, but it has pulled everything i feel, everything i'm going through, out of my head and on to paper. it's actually scary how dead on it is for me. but that's how music is suppose to work, so looks like they are doing a good job. i am so thankful for this song, it helps me deal with the things in my life.

One of the reasons I love Evaescence that much is because of really deep and emotional lyrics. My personal favorites would be:
Missing
And if I bleed, I'll bleed,
Knowing you don't care.
And if I sleep just to dream of you
I'll wake without you there,
Isn't something missing?
One of most emotional verses ever. And by the far my favoriite of Evanescence. :)
Taking over me
have you forgotten all i know
and all we had?
you saw me mourning my love for you
and touched my hand
i knew you loved me then
Bring me to life
Wake me up inside
call my name and save me from the dark
bid my blood to run
before I come undone
save me from the nothing Ive become
Imaginary
Swallowed up in the sound of my screaming
Cannot cease for the fear of silent nights
Oh, how I long for the deep sleep dreaming
The goddess of imaginary light
Lithium
Darling, I forgive you after all.
Anything is better than to be alone.
and
Don't want to let it lay me down this time.
Drown my will to fly.
Here in the darkness I know myself.
Can't break free until I let it go.

My two cents. :)

OMG solitude.. get out of my head. That song.. and Sweet Sacrifice.. both are helping to remove the toxins. This person, I'm purging, has a victim complex. Nothing is ever his fault, it's everyone elses. I heard..."You poor sweet innocent thing" and just FELT the sarcasm behind it.. and i cried... because yes... she got in my head, pulled out what I needed to say, and said it!

I can relate to almost every single EV song but I'd have to say Weight of the World stands out for me.
'If you love me, then let go of me. I won't be held down by who I used to be'
I just think that these lyrics are beautiful. They talk about moving forward in life, letting the past stay the past, and living for the future. Everytime I listen to this, I feel much better.

You don't need to see this post if you want to see it then good for you. Its going to be dumb, but this is what I felt liked.
Ok here I go. Well my songs are "Everybody Fool" and "Bring Me To Life" When I was 12 I was going through a phase or something, I was lieing about myself, and I liked Hilary Duff alot but my Mom didn't like that, because she knew I was better then to like Hilary Duff, and I didn't know why she was like that, I didn't get it in my head, so I just stayed in my room all the time, and I would fight with my Mom. I didn't know why, I just was going through a phase. And then Ev came out with "Bring Me To Life" and I really listened to the lyrics and I told myself "why Iam doing this to myself and to my Mom." So I got to know who were Evanescence and I really liked who they were. So I got their CD Fallen and I heard "Everybody Fool" and I falled in loved with that song, it helped me with everything. And now my Mom and me are really, really good buddys. Because of Amy I know who I AM now. I do think Amy is right about writing is like therapy, I been writing and stuff and letting all my feelings out on that paper.
So "Bring Me To Life" did bring me to life. It showed me life. But I got to say thank you to my Mum too, she helped me too she was always there for me. I know its dumb but that's my story .
Thank you for looking. LOL. :p

Hello has the most meaning to me even though everybody's fool and missing have one, too
Here's the songs that relate to me, and why.
"Sweet Sacrifice" - Basically I relate this to a guy called Nathan who I really liked about a year ago. He claimed to like me and we went out for a few weeks and he's the only guy I've ever REALLY felt something for. We kind of clicked from the first instant, and I really liked him. Then he stopped ALL communication until I broke it off. Next day he was with someone else. Soo.. "One day I'm gonna forget your name...... You're gonna drown in my last pain" is really significant and fitting to that situation.
Everybody's Fool - This pretty much relates to my dad and my family. Whenever he goes in REALLY bad moods and treats us like crap, he will put the biggest smile on for strangers or friends and act the perfect person, and it pisses me right off.
Field of Innocence - Pretty self explanitory in the lyrics. Basically, I miss being a child that knew nothing compared to the amount of worries I Have now.
Where Will You Go - There's one line that really stands out to me. "I realise you're afraid, but you can't abandon everyone". That sums up my agrophobia/fear of going out a lot. I always get nervous about going bowling or going to town or whatever, rather than enjoying it, and sometimes I back out. And this line is like... I know Im saying no to my friends and fearing I'm abandoning them.. Last year my friendship with someone hit the rocks because of it.
Missing - Basically, there's occasions I feel un-noticed and wonder if I'm liked by people and if I'd actually be missed.
Lacrymosa - Relates to my dads attitude to my sexuality. He kinda really dislikes me for it... which is why I can relate to "I can't change who I am... Won't lie to keep you near". And his pride is so important to him he cannot be wrong or take the blame.. relates to "Blame it on me, set your guilt free".
And Finally..
The Only One - Basically because of all the confusion during teenage years. I'm pretty sure that's what Amy said the concept was behind this song. "Never understood this life" etc. and "Don't look into the eyes of the world". Basically this to me means, how the worlds a pretty scary place and how everything can get really confusing.
Wow, had a nice little vent while doing that too. =]

They all hold such a strong meaning for me. But the one's that stand out most to me are.
*That last song I'm wasting on you (I was in a unhealthy relationship so this song I can really connect with)
*Like You (I lost my grandpa at the age of 4, but even though I never met her, I would've had an older sister she was born as a still born. She would've been 2 years older than me, she was born in 1988. I find myself wondering what it would've been like to have an older sister by my side. Also me and her were both born premature, that's when you're born really early. So basically we went through the same thing, yet I was the one to survive. And I just really wish I could meet the sister I could of haved. But there's nothing I can do about it.)

Going Under- I felt this way, not about someone else, but about myself pretty much up until this year. It's such a hard thing to describe.
My Last Breath- It sort of let me escape everything, I suppose.
Everybody's Fool - A lot of my friends can be extremely fake, so this song was my way of getting back at them without them knowing.
Sweet Sacrifice - I think I just love the song!
Basically all of the songs I listen to I have close relationships with, but I'm sure this post is already too long.

i can relate to a lot of ev songs but the one that strikes me the most right now is " [B]CALL ME WHEN YOU'RE SOBER [B]" because about 15 months ago i got with this guy thinking we were together and all that. i found out that he was a tweaker but by then i was already pregnent with my son. he had told me that he had given it up, but one day i go over there to see him and i saw a "utensil" on his dresser. he would say that he was sorry and there were times that he told me that he loved me. but now since i have had my son he has denied him and that can only mean one thing. but i dont need that drama in my life. so from me to him i say (to quote the song) " don't cry to me, if you loved me, you would be here with me, don't lie to me, just get your things, i've made up your mind" so see ya!!! my son will be 6 months old tomorrow and he is the best thing that has ever happened to me.

I'd say Lacrymosa has the most meaning to me cuz it's to Jamie. Also Forgive cause that's to Jamie too! hehe
Nothing on The Open Door but, I've always had a connection with 'My Last Breath'.
Other than being a kick-ass song, the lyrics are one of the best by Evanescence - metaphorical, lots imagery and can be applied to a lot situations (death, pain, feeling the need to escape, be free).

Well, I managed to pick up 'Fallen' at a very diffecult time... all of them just fit the whole situation ('Everybody's Fool' and 'My Immortal,' not so much, but otherwise)... But I think 'Haunted,' Tourniquet,' 'Imaginary,' and 'Hello' were the true core of the album for me. I will never forget what it feels like to have songs that roll all the fear and hurt and survival into such a nicely-wrapped package.
TOD... 'Snow White Queen,' 'Lacrymosa,' and 'Like You' all the way. Again, those are the core of the album in my opinion.
Origin? 'Field of Innocence.' 'Away from Me.'
Others - TLSIWOY. I couldn't say it better myself, even if I ever had the nerve to.

It is very true. All of Ev's songs have their own special meaning. Part of the reason why I like them so much is that they write their own music and put such deep meaning into the song which makes it alot more interesting to listen to than people who have songs written for them.

At the moment, the songs I can most relate to are Lithium and Good Enough.
In Lithium, as soon as I heard the song, I understood where she was coming from, and I can definetly relate to it. I have been in a major depression for over seven months, and sometimes I wish I could be happy, but without sadness I'd feel empty and dreamless.
Good Enough is my favorite at the moment, because it's so hopeful and has an extreme positive effect on me. I'm stuck in a situation, and I have a dream I want to follow, but I feel so lost. Just listening to her singing to me just moves my soul. I bet I sound so cliche, but it's true.

Like You - "You're not alone. No matter what they told you, you're not alone!!! I'll be right beside you, forevermore!!!"
Taking Over Me - "I believe in you. I'll give up everything just to find you. I have to be with you to live, to breathe. You're taking over me"
Field Of Innocence - "I still remember the sun always warm on my back. Somehow, it seems colder now!"
Weight Of The World - "If you love me, then let go of me. I won't be held down by who I used to be. She's nothing to me."
All That I'm Living For - "Guess I thought I'd have to change the world to make you see me, To be the one. I could have run forever. But how for would I have come. Without mourning your love?"

I really can sign this!
for me Hello has very powerful meaning... "don't try to fis me I'm not broken".... this was a right song in a right moment...
from TOD.... I guess Your star...
and I'm alone now... me and all i stood for...
and TLSIWOY is something more than just a song...
give up my way and I could be anything....
there are a lot meaningful songs...
(but the first place is Hello)

its really hard for me to choose because i think every song has a different meaning but if i had to choose id choose "Away From Me" "Hello" "and "Good Enough" i cant really explain why its kinda just like everything in the song, and, yeah thats it

I can relate very well to most Evanescence songs. However, the most touching and heart-wrenching song for me is probably
Good Enough, because I am at a point in my life right now where I'm tired of the hating myself and even though there are few days where I feel truly good about myself, those good days are the most important. Whilst I still enjoy dwelling in my depression occasionally, I need that reassurance that I'm "good enough" - for myself, for society, for my husband, for my friends, for my family... etc. I need to feel OK, even if I don't feel spectacular. I need some sense of self-worth in order to move on, grow up, and succeed in life.
The most specific lines that really get to me are:
"I've completely lost myself, and I don't mind"
"I'm still waiting for the rain to fall, pour real life down on me"
"Cause I can't hold on to anything... this good enough... am I good enough for you to love me to?"

Im lucky in the sense that I havn't been at an extremely unhappystage in my life, i've always just enjoyed ev for their songs. If I had to pick though, it comes between BMTL and GE.
BMTL: "How can you see into my eyes.." The idea of somebody being able to "read" me is terrifyng to me haha, probably because I am quite reserved. Also this song just reminds me of a special relationship i have with a girl =] (blushes)
GE: "I'm still waiting for the rain to fall, Pour real life down on me" Even if at times I can be unhappy with my life I know that ive always been very fortunate and on the whole a happy person, and therefore sometimes I wonder if my luck will run out ...

Everybody's Fool, basically people try and stop me from being who I am, and if I don't change for them, they have to give me a hard time about it. Also because the people who do this remind me of ditzy celebs who don't set a great example :P
My Immortal and Taking Over Me reminds me of the past year and a half and the difficult situation I have with somebody, so I can relate to them.
TLSIWOY is very touching, and whenever I listen to it I feel that little knot inside me, simply because it's so sad.
And finally Sweet Sacrifice. It's an amazing, powerful song, it makes me feel better about myself, and that situation related to MI and TOM is washed away, because I know I can rise above it, knowing I can just forget, it's not worth thinking about.
But those songs aside, I can somehow relate to almost every song in one way or another, and generally they all help me out. I think Sweet Sacrifice holds first place...just.

he held me back from happiness

If I had to just pick one, I'd have to say Like You. Although what Amy and I have gone thru is different, it's still the same concept. Amy lost her sister, I lost my mother at age 11. It was tragic and although Amy may be almost 10 years older than me, the meaning behind the song doesn't change anything. Even when I couldn't hear the emotion in Amy's voice in the song, it struck me as an emotional song and it is absolutly amazing. I'm really glad that she wrote that song and decided to put it on the album because it's touched me in so many ways already.
:)
This is a little off topic but I just want to say I'm sorry that happened to you. I lost my mum at age 12 and this is one of the songs that I can relate to most as well. The lyrics are just so true and it's exactly how I feel.
I would also say that Tournquet holds a lot of meaning for me. Last weekend I just lost it and starting taking an overdose, and through all of it I kept praying for God not to send me to hell and to help me. I survived it but it's still really painful right now.

For awhile it was So Close, and Solitude, I got to this point where this guy I really liked, just totally messed me up, didn't know how to act around him, didn't know how to express how I felt...which lead to me being pretty depressed.
As of right now I think Good Enough, holds some meaning for me, I'm at a place where I feel good about myself, sure I still get upset, and angry, but I'm more happy than anything else.
Going Under, it got me through some hard times about 3 years ago.

Mostly songs from The Open Door
Sweet Sacrifice; I think alot of people relate to it. Whether you've been picked on because you're different or anything else.
The chorus in Weight Of The World, especially the last line in the first chorus. I was in a situation where I liked someone but he didn't like me and he was a complete and total jerk. I would get so angry about it. He would pick on me and call me psycho. But i've grown out of it.
Lithium, since for the longest time I would be depressed because of said relationship. But I'm not that in love with my dark side. So, the relation to this song is just a little bit.
Somehow I relate to Cloud Nine.
Lacrymosa. The same relationship. Always taking the blame and stuff.
Good Enough is me and my current boyfriend's song. He's the sweetest thing and treats me so well.
Some of the lines from The Last Song I'm Wasting On You.
Give up my way
And I could be anything
I'll make my own way
Without your senseless
Hate
Hate
Hate
Hate
So hate me if it feels good
You lied to me
But I'm older now
And I'm not buying baby
The stuff from Fallen, I don't remember relating to it. Maybe my Immortal because it was about seperation and mt older brother has lived in West Virginia since I was seven. He wanted to go live with biological father and I never really forgave him for it. But thats all.

Well, definitely Missing. I think its kinda self explanatory. lol.
And Weight Of The World, because, I see it all around me all the time. Like, my friends will change, and everybody will be 'holding him/her' down, and they really don't care, they like the change, and there old self meant nothing to them. (I know the meaning that I take from it is a little different from others, but whatever.).
Lets see....Solitude. Again, self explanatory.
Imaginary. I'm very creative, and I day dream a lot to escape my reality. It works, too. I'm a very happy, content person, most of the time.
Um, definitely Lose Control. I never get too. And it sucks. Bottling up your feelings isn't the way to go, and well, I do it a lot.
And lastly, The Only One. Cuz, its nice to know that your never the only one. Especially if your a self conscious person like me =]

Anywhere- Because from my interpretation of the song, it's about two people that want to be together, but they can't for whatever reason. My boyfriend and I are now living apart, and it's really hard sometimes. I just want to run away from everything, and not look back, and just be with him.
Lithium- I know how it feels to want to let go of the pain that you've held in for so long, but then again, it's the pain that makes you feel alive. The pain that keeps you feeling things, and inspiring you. You want to be happy, but are so afraid of what may happen when you become happy.
The Last Song I'm Wasing On You- Again with my interpretation, it's about having the strength to push someone bad out of your life, and slamming the door and locking it. Someone that hurts you, you have to have the strength to know when they're becoming too hard to deal with, and get them out.

At one point I could relate to CMWYS very much, but mostly I would say Imaginary or The Only One, because I tend to live in my own little world and sometimes I just feel like I don't belong.
But as someone said, every song by Evanescence holds something I can relate to, that's why I love them so much, everything is just so real and true.

I can say I relate to most of their songs, which is one of the reasons I love Evanescence so much.
Like You & Hello- Earlier on in life, I had a baby brother, but after two months he passed away, which is sad since I had grown to love him. We know what these two songs mean, so I don't find it necessary to speak of these songs any further.
Forever You- Somehow I never thought I could relate to this song, but a few weeks back I realized, that a person I hold very dear to me was causing me pain day in and day out. I finally managed to see through her.
Snow White Queen- My own will to keep on and show that one girl that we are so alike, and I know one day she will see that she indeed is my Snow White Queen.

All That I'm Living For

Everybody's Fool, Forever You, Lacrymosa & Sweet Sacrifice

Good Enough
- When I finally became happy with my life :) And also about my best friend
Lithium
- Exactly how I was feeling growing up
Lose Control

Snow White Queen
- Internet stalkers...Grrr :p
Weight of the World

All the songs have a deep meaning too me but that doesn't mean that some are my favorite songs. Plus the songs are so open to interpretation that one day you could interprete, let's say "Missing" one day and have a completely different interpretation another day based soley on the way your feeling that day.
Art and music should be organic in the way it can change depending on your interpretation so for me all Evanescence songs have great meaning to me depending on which "me" is listening to them.

All that Im Living For- cause right now im in a position where everyone around me expects a lot from me, and so do i, im really close to my dreams right now and to my own expectations that im almost forgetting all other things.
Imaginary- cause im always out of reality and i always make my way of things in my mind even if not in the real life, i always escape from reality in that way
Field of Innocence- cause i actually had one of the best childhoods and now i think that all good things from that times are disapearing right now and i feel that i cant do anything to save them.
I agree with all of this. ;)
Dark Solitude
03-18-2008, 06:22 PM
...but it's not just one
Solitude -one of the most adorable lyrics for me. Every word goes right into your heart, it's just indescribable.
Everybody's Fool -it reveals the worst traits of the stupid pop-society, all the lies and stereotypes in our everyday life. And when you add the video... !
Like You -the most beautiful song about the sorrow in a human's heart. Amongst all the songs about grief, this one is my number one. It might be sad but the meaning... you know what I mean.

My top 5:
5) Imaginary
I'm always daydreaming. It's my escapism. When I'm bored or unhappy, I just dream that I'm somewhere else, living the life I want to live.
4) All That I'm Living For
It kind of shows my two sides, the passive and agressive.
I feel really alone, like no one understands me, and that no one will even know who I am until I do something drastic that will change the world.
3) Listen To The Rain
For me, this kind of describes the way I feel when no one else seems to appreciate something really beautiful. They just pass right by without giving a damn, and I wonder a lot if I'm the only one who really understands what beauty is.
2) Tourniquet
This song pretty much sums up how I feel when I get so furious and depressed that I just want to stab myself to death.
1) Understanding
This is pretty much me put to music.
It's about how even though you want to forget the terrible things that have happened to you, they're always there. They'll never really go away, and it can screw you up forever.

Probably Tourniquet for me. It was one of the first songs I heard, right after Bring Me To Life and My Immortal. There is a long story as to why this song is so special, which involves my Sophomore year English class, as well as the John Steinbeck novel The Grapes of Wrath, but I won't go as far as going through the entire story.:)

It depends on how things are in my life at the time, but most of the time I can realy relate to TLSIWOY and Good Enough. I know, they are two ends of the spectrum, but for some reason they just hit me emotionally. Understanding really ranks up there too, especially the live version.

I'd say All That I'm Living For holds the most meaning for me.
For me, it's about being different, about putting so much effort into something that it becomes your life-almost about having ambitions. It's fitting for the sort of person I am.
I'd say Good Enough holds a lot of meaning too, but that's more because I've listened to it at some of the happiest moments of my life :)

I think the Fallen album defines me completely, because I really had some awful years in my life that I just want to... And I had so much anger because of what I lived. I still have some anger, but less. I move on, I think.
Anyway, douring those years I found all my anger expresed in some Ev songs... well, not the whole Fallen album, but most of it. Hunted, My last breath, etc.
I think that some songs are about feeling hurt, about a life of believe lies and ended alone, with deception... :| I know I'm being a little bit pesimist, but that's how I feel those songs...
I'm not saying that there are sad songs, there are songs about life, about survive all the **** and all the bad things that hurts us. In the end, they have a little hope ;) and optimism deep inside of them.

For me, I think the song I relate to the most now would be Good Enough. I never get sick of listening to it, and I sing it to my boyfriend all the time. :)
I can also relate to TLSIWOY, Before The Dawn, and Sweet Sacrifice.
I love mostly all of them and have related to them at some point or another in my life, except maybe Tourniquet. I've never wanted to die, I'm actually afraid of it.

For me it´d be "GOING UNDER". I just remembered my past life, that rarely I had forgotten, but my psychologist made remember it,all!! So then I started to remember, I did many things for someone who didn´t deserve it.

I think tourniquet and TLSIWOY
Tourniquet because thats what always inspires me when I'm writing. it's lways been my favourite song :)
TLSIWOY because I can relate to it so much
I recognise all the feelings in the song, i feel the pain and the kind of relief at the end. this is another song that means alot to me :)

i think for me it would be good enough.
Tourniquet and Everybody's Fool!
Tourniquet because of a girl I'm in love with.
She is kinda emo and she already had slit her wrist like 5 or 6 times (still living though).
And Everybody's Fool beacause of that very same girl.
She has alot of love relationships (already had 15 in 1 year).
And if she goes on like this, she will be everybody's fool because then she already has dated everyone.
Yeah, it's really hard.
Oh I forgot My Immortal, that one describes how I'm feeling at this moment.
Wanna talk about this or do you have any questions?
PM me.

theres a special meaning for me with each ev song, and i relate to every one of them in some way or another.
but out of all the songs, i must say that tourniquet holds the most meaning for me because i was very suicidal for a few years and i always wondered what would happen to me if i did it, whether or not i would still go to heaven. i'd explain more but my head hurts x.x

which ev song has the most meaning for me....hmmm....i would have to say...pry Missing and Understanding....and throw in Your Star.....yeah just like the previous poster has said...each EV song has a meaning that i can relate to...but Missing....because its dedicated to my real mom and my ex boyfriend.....Understanding...that song has helped me out through the difficult times that i have had lately.....and Your Star....because it does feel like at times that i can be alone....there is more to that.....but my head hurts...(owwie)

definately hello. The first time I heard it I started balling my eyes out it was so sad. It reminds me of things like 9/11 and people that have lost someone extremely close to them. It also reminds me of people who don't know that someone close to them has passed away and they will never know even though they really love them. Even though I've never really lost anyone close to me, it means a lot to me.
